Before the surgery i was advised by some doctors to enter a controlled pain management program, as an alternative to surgery. Perhaps it can be a relief for some people. My problem was the ruptured discs were pressing the medula so it was necessary to remove the pressure and pain killers were not a solution, but might help you. The surgery did cost 35K USD and yes, it is expensive. The surgeon told me before the surgery, it is advised to wait for at least a couple of years before having the surgery if there is no neurological complications, because sometimes the pain may subside with time.

I had adr c 4-5 and C 5-6 about 6 months ago. Best decision I think although I still have arthritis type pain in my neck at times but it's relatively mild. I felt like 90-95% better. NOTE: This surgery is no cake walk, worse then my C section and longer recovery then expected. BUT my main ssue now is I woke up a few weeks back with rather severe pain. I also have C 6-7 not replaced but a bad disk. Mild herniation. The pain could be coming from there because I fell two months back. The disk may be worse now after falling. Unfortunately in the US you can only have a double disk replacement which I had but the other disk would need fusion possibly.. The surgeon said C 6-7 wasn't bad enough for surgery.

I had the Charite Disc in 2005 at 37, was one the first to have done, and that disc was removed from market in 2012. Chronic pain for 13 yrs as I am now 50 biggest complaint and something you discussed in video “cushion” one of the design flaws, IMO, with the Charite disc is it doesn’t mimic natural movement nor provides cushion. Many issues surrounding the Charite thus why removed. So much in Advancement only wish I didn’t have my issues. Research these devices ask questions as I know that this a cutting edge tech, and is a lot more advanced then what hit market in 2004. My surgery was L5/S1 in Dec 2005 on regiment of medicine to deal with pain and nerve pain. Procedure done in the US

The surgeon has recommended a fusion over a disc replacement and says its 70% success rate. Anyone else's opinion would be massively appreciated! Dire straights at the moment. Thank you.

@EnandeGmbH
@EnandeGmbH 6 жыл бұрын
Hello Assissi. For single level ADR with Enande/Dr. Ritter-Lang, it is 28K Euros plus 4K for additional levels. That includes all the hospital stay, hotel stay before and after (including a 5-star hotel during recuperation), and full brunches before and after hospital stay. And that is for you and a companion. We even provide hotel for your companion while you are in the hospital. The only cost to add to this is airfare and evening meals when not in the hospital. We do not rush people out of the hospital either like in many countries. 4-6 days in the hospital is common at Enande...if needed. Hope this helps. You can get more information and a complimentary consultation at www.enande.com/evaluation-form.html

What are the most recent results? I understand fusion is still 33% improve, 33% see no change, and 33% get worse. I've heard similar results for ADR. Is that true, or has the success rate improved in the last 5 years? I'm an L4 L5, L5 S1 candidate due to DDD. My doctors have never even discussed ADR. I have always been told there was nothing other than fusion. I found out about you on my own.

Mahoney Same here, my friend: I stumbled upon ADR out of desperation in severe L5/S1 herniation pain...just to find out that Spinal Kinetics manufactuers M6 IN THE USA and yet, FDA doesn't allow it (not sure if my info is up to date on that, but that was the latest when I looked a month ago). With that, I am saving serious money to habe it ready for when I need my L5/S1 replaced (the day is coming with the initial DDD diagnosis on my MRI. Maybe by then FDA will grow up and admit it based on international trials (quite successful, mind you)...if not, I will pay for it myself. I cannot have this pain again for the rest of my life (recovered about 90% as we speak). Good luck to you.
@EnandeGmbH
@EnandeGmbH 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Artur. We feel the same way about the M6. They are nearing FDA approval for the cervical version, but they tell us they will likely devote their resources to getting multi-level cervical approval in the US before turning to lumbar. Of course, we have been doing 3-4 level cervical and lumbar for many years with the M6.

ADR is better. Why would you want to take two bones and make them move like one when you could replace the disk and have the bones move independently? ADR is apparently cheaper too.
@skylyon
@skylyon 4 жыл бұрын
Actually not having surgery is better. Many studies show equivalent outcomes 5 years out with and without surgery. Why would you buy a metal and plastic object permanently in your body? Materials science studies show that the wear and debris from the implant increases exponentially as time passes. Inflammation and revision surgery get higher as time goes on. With each subsequent surgery, the probability of success falls dramatically. Surgery sets off a domino health effect.
@Dantesjoe
@Dantesjoe 4 жыл бұрын
@@skylyon 5 years out from what? A little arthritis? A bulging disk? A herniated disk? A severely compressed nerve? 5 Years of constant excruciating pain or 5 years of minor discomfort? The best approach is case by case evaluated by a professional. Sometimes those complications of surgery are worth not going through 5 years of something.
@skylyon
@skylyon 4 жыл бұрын
@@Dantesjoe the complications from surgery down the road will definitely add up. The risks far outweighs the benefits in the long term. Chronic pain actually is more caused by stress and depression than compressed nerves.

I became disabled after my spinal lumbar fusion at only 27 years old. I am 34 now and still on disability and just discovered I now have a severe herniation at T10-11 thoracic spine with severe stenosis. It’s so bad I actually have a visual bulge in my back that’s hard as a rock like a baseball is under my skin. Extremely painful and doesn’t respond to steroids or muscle relaxants. I am TERRIFIED of being operated on from the front side! I have to drive 3 hours away because no surgeons in my area even attempt thoracic spine surgery which really scares me. I feel like if I was offered disk replacement I wouldn’t be where I am today. Now that I have Fusion I keep herniating disks above the Fusion. I’ve had a ruptured disk at L3-4 above my Fusion for 3 years and now this T10 rupture. I’ve managed the lumbar herniation ok but this T10 rupture has really put me down. What really makes things worse is doctors think you have all the time in the world to live with this. When your spine is half cut off by a herniation I don’t understand why it’s safe to let patients live with it for months!! I can’t see half of my spine in the MRI image because it’s covered up my the large herniation. Zero urgency to help me
