Long Term Shelter In The Woods - Making a small fence in front of the house and a small rock and wood table for enjoying time outside during the warm seasons - Building a small firewood shelter with a moss roof - Making a bushcraft wooden mallet that helped me with my work - Cooking soup over a campfire and using traditional vessels for eating - I had an unexpected guest for dinner: a noisy deer approached my camp. No talking, only peaceful nature sounds.
Vegetable soup recipe: add chopped vegetables in boiling water (onions, potatoes, carrots, green peas, pepper - various colors, cherry tomatoes, etc.), a mixture of spices of your liking (I added curry, salt, pepper, sweet and chili red pepper powder, garlic powder, dried basil, dried vegetable's powder made at home). When the soup is almost done also add some chopped fresh herbs (parsley, dill, basil, etc.) and olive oil. I also sprinkled a part of the fresh herbs and chopped green onion leaves on top after I poured the soup into my plate. It is a dish that is often consumed here (almost daily by my people) with different variations - some will make it sour, some will add pasta or spaghetti to it and meat, others will add eggs or cream.
I created a playlist with all the videos that I filmed at my long-term shelter - you can access it by clicking this link:

Ok! I’m calling dibs on Johanna as my partner when the zombie apocalypse starts! Absolutely love your videos! My Bushcrafting “style” is very different but simply love the elegance of your creation….some of us are doing bushcrafting but you’re doing something else that makes this almost rustic art…lovely stuff.

Each peace of wood, each rock, they belong there. I close my eyes and see this. You are on your front porch, the neighbors who live down the way a peace come by to say hello. Johanna, that is the best film editing i have ever seen. You filmed a few knocks on a pole, and immediately you’re doing the same on the other, while being in perfect harmony with the first knock, and then the second and so on, up to the end. And then the same on the other side without missing one hammer stroke of the last one you did. Amazing Oh, the evening visit of the deer. Johanna, your shelter in the woods is wonderful.

Interesting that in USA the word homely means unattractive but in UK it means attractive and cozy home. In USA the word homey describes attractive, cozy home AND in some of our many cultures it also means a good friend. I pity anyone coming to USA and trying to learn our language. End trivia rant....

Johanna, I just finished watching Dan Les’ National Geographic video (or better said the NG vid he was featured in). What a beautiful man. Yes, like you, honoring ancestors, earth, and country. Not allowing the ways of technology to drown out our important ancestry, our souls, that must be honored & retained. He is an amazing artisan, just as you are in your own way. He reminded me that no matter your situation if you allow God to mold you, you can be molded and miracles can happen (paraphrase). My husband and I shall surrender ourselves to being molded and healed. #SacredEarthHealing I stretch my hand out to you in healing and sisterhood.💙💫🌀

Your comments about the summer sleeping reminded me of the old country houses here. The houses had what looked like two front doors, but one was usually for the bedroom and they had screen doors for summer cooling, and sleeping comfort. I remember my grandparents place was that way when I spent a summer with them working with Grandpa when I was 15.

What an amazing job you've done. This beautiful house should only be seen in the fairyland, but you've made it come true! I think the deer was only coming to greet you, to thank you for making such a beautiful house there. Thanks for letting us know so many nice things about you home land traditions. And also thanks for the video you share.

It is a good idea to be in the woods during the Kovid period. I like your approach. I want to travel to Mongolia after Kovid. It is a good place to travel in the tradition of life. My words are translated by Google.

YOUR sawhorse is one of the sturdiest, best-design ones I have seen in my long history of Bushcraft video-viewing! I also admire the mallet. ALAS, when I didn't expect to do more carving, I gave away my fine mallet to someone who might better use it. NOW, I don't have a decent replacement to baton wood with. I LEARNED IMPORTANT TECHNIQUES from this and others of your videos about how to efficiently support wood for working. The Y-forked sticks, added to your sawhorse system, would save many of us from frustration and 'do-overs!'

Very much enjoyed the link to the National Geographic piece. Thanks for sharing. You've created a magical place that very few humans will ever experience. Breathtaking. That deer sounded pissed! Also... you make eating very little seem like a feast. The birds create the most sweet music.
