Hi from Nevada. Gonna be about 70 degrees and sunny for exmas here in Las Vegas. I migrated here from Jeffersonville Vermont in '93. Before that I was a Lieutenant of the NYC Police Department and we lived in Massapequa Park on Long Island. I really do not miss the 4 seasons including winter and the snow. I went back there in '97 and I couldn't believe how much smaller everything looked. The streets were so narrow and the houses were so close together. Much tighter around there than my memories of the past. Now pushing 80 (1/25/43) I can only dream of doing the chores of Mike the Morgan Man. Walking out to the truck is an adventure. I have a Goldendoodle of 30 lbs who had got to be the most energetic dog i have ever seen. She would wear out your Ardhie. By the way that is a fantstic name for your dog. Just stared on a new hobby: R/C airplanes. Not too much physical stuff but a lot of fun. Between that and my reloading of ammo and target shooting my dance card is kinda full. All I gotta do now is to find a gun loving young person to leave everything to. My collection of reloading gear and firearms would be worth over $50,000 and since my wife of 32 years has sunk into the depths of dementia and is in an assisted living home it would be silly to keep her as the executor of my estate or my beneficiary. I want my firearms to be treasured and used by somebody who can use them and not to be sold off for pennies on the dollar. A dude like you who has a firing range on his property. Along with all the above I have ton of Dillon reloading presses and a few others along with a ton of cartridge cases for the above calibers along with the proper reloading dies and other assorted tools and gadgets to cast bullets, reload ammo and to occupy yourself in your new workspace inside. And the best part of all this is you can leave it to Levi and then he can pass it on to his son etc so the carefully assembled and loved ball of decent stuff lives on and on. Seriously I am fast approachig my expiration date and I have no one to be the executor of my estate nor a deserving beneficiary to leave it all to. Also included would be my energizer dog Elsa the 30 lb Goldendoodle. Mike, LOVE the pavilion!! Should be able to do a lot of work and stay dry!! Outside the Chicagoland area, not much snow!! 2-4 inches in various spots. The bigger problem is the temps and wind!! 40 miles west of Downtown Chicago temps are currently -6 with winds about 20-30 mph with gusts into the 40’s. Wind Chill at -33 at about 9:50 Friday morning!! Stay Warm!!

Here in Lycoming County, PA we had about 3" of snow plus rain. A lot of rain apparently, overnight, which put a trickle of water in the basement, and melted that snow. It was 43 degrees last night when I went to bed and 40 when I got up at 7:30. By 9:30 it was 32 and dropping with the wind picking up. I am keeping an eye on some of my trees which will probably come down and make some nice maple firewood next season.

Mike, you have a nice setup for firewood. The chute on your conveyor where all the debris falls off you should think about putting a small tipping dumpster under it. I used one years ago and it was a big time saver when it comes to cleanup. Pick it up with the track loader and dump it wherever. Merry Christmas to your family and God bless 🎄

A nice 6’ overhang on both sides of the new pole barn would be great u can line the sides with ibc totes and have a makeshift walls to protect u from the elements and keep them covered would be a nice addition and protect the poles at the same time. We don’t mind the snow but the northwesterly winds make it extremely cold and can cause much damage. So far, so good!

Hi Mike, great start to your building. Just a thought and maybe you have addressed this before. You mentioned that you will be putting your sawmill at the entrance to your building. This appears to mean that you or someone else will be putting your logs onto your mill from the outside obviously. I think it would be a good idea to put in/bury in concrete a sacrificial post or a large concrete-filled pipe at least at the two corner posts/columns of your building. If you will be working or backing up to any other location quite regularly like the log splitter area on both sides of the building I think the posts/columns of your building should be protected. As you know you are operating fairly large and powerful equipment and if something should happen and you misjudge slightly by just a few inches they will destroy things quite rapidly. Just a thought and that came from experience! LOL!!! J.R.

But the minus 5 degrees low last night with a stiff north wind was tough. We probably won't see 32 degrees until Sunday morning for just a little while. In Northern KY we were in the high forties yesterday (Thursday), rain started about 7pm and by midnight we had about 2-3 inches of snow. Today we ended with 5.5 inches of snow around 3:00 am, temps -8 with a windchill of -35 and wind gusts at about 35 mph. BRUTAL. Hello from Pray, Montana, just outside of Yellowstone. Our temperatures dropped incredibly fast Wednesday morning, from 34 to -6F in about 40 minutes. We had 30-40 mph winds and an inch of snow the consistency of powdered sugar. Yesterday's low was -40F in spots with one DOT webcam recording -50. West Chicago, IL here. Got down to minus 8 last night, high winds. Only got about an inch and a half of snow from the system. Wind is blowing the snow around, but not nearly as bad as was predicted. Merry Christmas to all of you. I really look forward to all of your videos!!!

It is funny how buildings are never big enough. My cows were coming inside Thursday night after standing out in the rain all day. I put some extra bedding down in the barn for them and also to help with the freeze that is coming. This is the worst kind of weather, cold, rain mix and blowing winds.
