Longboarding with Patriot36

For Christmas I thought I'd surprise my regular viewers with something a little different. Riding longboards happens to be one of my regular fitness activities and partially satisfies my need for speed! I decided to take you guys along so enjoy the ride. That was a fun watch. Buddy of mine liked the longboarding thing. I tried ridding my sons skateboard the other day...I've lost my touch.

Funny timing, I'm watching you and Kyle build a trap over on your channel...lol. Thanks Crocket, it's easy for me to lose my confidence if I'm off the board for a while. Since it cooled off, I've been out several nights per week with a headlamp on, skating for exercise.

Haha! We'll I try to be as safe as I can but it does satisfy that speed bug in me. I had the binos in my backpack, just in case I went down. ...and my Christ bless your New Year as well! :)

NICE! I loved the "gearing up" intro. One time when I was a teenager I wiped out HARD on a big downhill. My trucks were too loose and the speed was too great. It was road rash city. Nice slice of life there buddy. You're nephew is a wildman!

Eeek! I've never had a tank slapper but I'm careful to make sure my bushings are good and everything is tight. Can't say it would have been that way when I was a kid though...lol. Yeah, he was having a great time. Hey, maybe I could get you to come out and cover that parking garage floor in Ballistol for me. That could make for a good vid!

Very nice! I was surprised! My sun is also a fan. I'm more a bike guy, for long I was in racing but now more moutaine bike! Other kind of challenge. Hey cadrician, glad you guys enjoyed that one! I'm more of a bike guy than I am a longboarder, as well. Started racing when I was 12 and did it for about a decade before turning to mountain biking which is all I do now. My brother stayed with the road cycling and went on to race as a professional on a well known team. Maybe next Christmas I'll put together a mtn biking vid...lol. Good to hear from ya and have a great New Year also!

I watched Wild last night with Reese Witherspoon because it got great reviews. It turned out to be rather depressing and without many redeeming qualities. The hiking as a bit cheesy and limited. Didn't know if you had seen it?

Very cool. Haven't been longboarding in awhile. Broke my hand about 4 years ago from a bad wipe out bombing down a hill.

Thanks Rmartin. Hopefully it healed up okay for you but you might enjoy getting back out. Most of the time I just push and cruise to reduce my exposure to injury. The same evening that the parking garage footage was shot, I hit a parking block up on the top deck because I didn't see it in the dark. I went down so fast and hard that I barely had time to put my arms out in front of me. I had leather gloves on which saved my skin but I'm beyond thankful that I didn't break a wrist or bone in my left arm. The sound of the impact was so loud that Chacho was sure that I must have broken something. Knocked the wind out of me as well.

I grew up in the 80s and skated for most my youth, I could ollie up picnic tables back when it was completely unheard-of......unless you were Natas Kaupus (my hero) at the time LOL......Man dude I miss skateboarding and was totally looking to go pro in street :( Life didn't go that route and now my back is shot but watching you long board inspires me to possibly give it go for fun. I will never forget how to ride it's like a fish to water for me I can still hang ten and do manuals (floaters in my day) Rodney Mollen style;)

Dude, you're a rock star! I could never do that, even when I was younger. I was always just a cruiser and liked the freedom cruising gave me. Popping up a curb was about the best I could do. Yeah, I don't know how bad your back is but if you're able you should give it a go. If I can do it without hurting myself it would be like breathing air for you. I think it helps to keep you young as well!

looks fun. i'd have as much gear on as the little kid. i used to rollerblade and the better i got at it the more gear i wore lol i was probably a bit backwards

Yeah, my nephew has all the gear. Well, I'm guessing that as you got better you went faster, so... doesn't seem too goofy! I've found that I can usually slide on my hands and shoes for accidents under 10-15mph. If I go faster, I usually put on at least elbow protection.

We do have some nice roads! That parking garage that we rode in was smooth as glass! I'm trying to get better at it so that I can take on more challenging terrain but I need to learn to slide whenever I want. Right now I don't go much over 35mph or so.

+Hulado Thanks man! Yeah super fun on a road bike and pretty safe because you've got great brakes. I was a competitive cyclist for about 10 years and rode just about every downhill in AZ and CO. We'd get about 60mph on some of them and they would go for miles. I'm not good enough on a long board to do that kind of stuff.
