Try using 3-4 links of chain . Will stop the restriction of the stainless pads from stopping the flow. Darwyn from Honey Dew Carpenter used this when he designed the original foam mate. But I like your design looks much simpler.

@@PranaTech I think you design project is unique because it answers two very important projects. One is a clear explanation of a large volume wand that allows use with a cement truck. The sister project is also fantastic because it allows for air alone to be used to pump a large volume of valuable foam. I suspect that many Americans will be joining you in Mexico, Mezzo America or South America. ... I think that this project goes beyond life enriching to being life saving. ... @@PranaTech One other thing that might be relevant. In the future the use of concrete might be frowned upon. However, Aircrete should be highly favored in building use because it fractionalizes the amount of concrete use to build buildings. As a result, once Social Credit Scores start having an Aircrete home should improve your score. Prana-Tech as a creator of a new technology that reduces CO2 emissions from both use of Concrete and the Use of energy to drive pumps should be something that provides you added value. With the shift happening in African Nations you might find traction for your device in those nations as well. If you are interested I have a contact that was a Senior International Advisor for Africa - Covington & Burling LLP. If you would like I can make an intro for you.

One other thing you might want to look into is the strength of hemp rope / fiber. It is almost as strong as E-Glass. What that means is that hemp rope strands oriented correctly can add a great deal of strength to aircrete. Minoans made their boats out of hulls made from hemp fabric, bees wax and pine tar. I have a table that shows that if 25% thicker the boats were stronger and lighter than E-Glass fiberglass boats made in the 70s and early 80s.

Hi Don , greetings from Tasmania, I have just finished my foam generator, thanks to you mate. Just tried it out and nearly had to ski out of the shed, it worked . I have to get the hang of the pressures but that foam stood up so I reckon I'm on track. I am thinking of purchasing the bigger 1 inch pump to use as a transfer pump for the aircrete from the mixer to the formwork. I would be interested in your mixes. I am flat out like a lizard drinking at the moment but hope to start on my walls in about a months time, all the best Don, regards , John.

Great idea. I made a modification, haven't tried it yet but it simplifies the baffle design. Go to the hardware store and get a pvc cap for a 1" pvc pipe. That cap will fit perfectly and snugly head first into the end of the 1 1/2" pvc pipe. Before you put it in. drill a series of holes through the top of the cap. Apply pvc cement and push the cap head first into the opening of the 1 1/2" pvc until it stops. (It's tapered a bit so it will stop before it goes all of the way in.) When it dries a bit, cut the cap end flush with the end of the 1 1/2 " pvc. Except for the baffle everything else is exactly the same as in the video. You are just going to have to guess as to what size drill bit to use to make the holes and how many you should drill into the top of the cap before you glue it into the 1 1/2 " pvc. Hope this helps. P.S. Mine was a "Genova" brand 1" pvc cap. If yours is different you might have to resort to sand paper to modify the opening if the cap it too large, or use a heaver glue if the cap diameter is a bit too small.

I tried it today and it works perfectly. With Honeydo's foam gun, where he puts a few links of chain it to stop the scrubbies from blowing out, even with the scrubbies packed in as hard as I could, after the gun was made up, I would test it to see if air could go through. Surprisingly there was little air resistance at all. With this baffle you can still slow though it with not much effort, but there is a definite amount of resistance. So I think that foam has to speed up forcing it's way through the holes and then the expansion chamber allows the foam to more properly form before exiting the gun. The foam it made had the tiniest of bubbles. Very reduced amount of bubble pops as the concrete sat for a few minutes after being poured. It's in the 50s today in Vermont, so this will be a good test for the concrete.
@PranaTech
@PranaTech 3 жыл бұрын
Hi David, that all sounds like it worked out great! Yes, a little back pressure seems to cause the solution and air to blend better and make those tiny, durable bubbles. 😀👍

I would have just put a screw off end cap on it and drilled some holes in it for an end baffle, much easier.👍
@PranaTech
@PranaTech 2 жыл бұрын
Ok, so there needs to be some airspace between the baffle and the reduced output nozzle. If you just have multiple holes on the end, you just get foam spraying all over and it needs to come back together in a reduced nozzle to create some back pressure and which also creates velocity so the foam can be applied into a larger container like a cement truck. I like the way you think though! Simpler is always better!😊👍

@@PranaTech My favorite CAD is SolidWorks. (I am a Mechanical Engineer graduate, so that's what I learned on...) The creator of that branched off and made OnShape. It is VERY similar to the design process as SolidWorks so was intuitive to learn. The nice part about it is that it is cloud based and open source. It is fully functional and free to use unless you want to maintain proprietary information in which case you pay the subscription. I just keep all my stuff free source anyhow because honestly, if people ever even find my designs or can understand my crazy doodles which are mostly just snap shot details for clearance verifications usually, they can have them! Also, it is shareable in real time, like Google Docs, so multiple folks can work together on stuff and see iterations through saved versions. Pretty sweet. Love your stuff, and hope you keep going. I am currently sponsoring a Mechanical Engineering Capstone project at a university to help create a continual generation AirCrete machine and your information is proving helpful in their design of the foam generator portion. I will share the result after they finish the semester. Thanks for your work!

Commercial Air Krete for insulation is 5.5 lbs per cu ft wet and dries to 2.5 lbs per cu ft. This seems to be about 6 times lighter than the diy aircrete recipes on KZbin made with Drexel, if my calculations are correct. Does anyone know how to get a much lighter aircrete similar to Air Krete for insulation purposes. I know adding more foam would make it lighter but I’m worried about enough strength to hold it together for insulation. Don’s videos are so clear and easy to understand! Thanks

I am curious about why you glued all tubing because won't the pot scrubbers need to be changed out at some time? Also wondering if in further trials you used the idea of the sink basket strainer rather than the baffle. Would be simpler it seems, but maybe other drawbacks? I really appreciate your clean and careful work and straight-forward and informative videos! Thank you for taking the time to document and sharing what you do and for trying all these things out!

Thanks for your kind comments. I don’t know if you would ever have to change them since they are stainless steel. Shouldn’t be any corrosion problem I don’t think. I cut one apart after using it for a while to get the scrubbers out and install in a newer design and there was no buildup or corrosion at all. The strainer idea is a good one, I just went this direction because it was easier and I didn’t have to cut down the strainer to fit. 👍😁

I don’t have any videos of the finished Aircrete yet. The Javelina stomped all over the two batches that I made in the how to video and ruined them overnight.☹️ Aircrete’s greatest strength is in its lightweight construction and insulation properties. In it’s lightest form it is not very strong or durable unless covered with a coating of stucco. If being used for structural blocks, you would need to add some sand to increase the density and strength unless you were planning to build a dome type structure. Hope this helps.😁👍

so I finally got a chance to use mine. It seems to work fine. But I am still having problems. Maybe you can help. I'm using Suave daily clarifying shampoo 1:32 for a foam solution. I have a small liquid pump pushing the solution into the gun at 60 psi, if I have the air also at 60psi the foam density for 5 gal is 2.25 pounds. If I cut back on the air I get the density to 3 pounds per 5 gal. My test run looked great, except after 1 hour of letting it sit, the foam was half gone. I have no objection to getting the higher cost solutions but I'd rather work out the bugs using the cheap stuff. I'm wondering if I drilled smaller holes in the 1" pvc cap I'm using as a bracket to hold back the scrubbies, if that would work to make better foam? Maybe use longer wand with more scrubbies? Maybe add glycerin to the solution? Our city gets its water essentially from rainwater and not wells, so it isn't that hard. I'm looking to use aircrete on my inside basement walls for insulation. Any ideas? Thanks a million.
@PranaTech
@PranaTech 3 жыл бұрын
Hi David, it sounds like your wand is working great! I wouldn’t change anything. Was it hot the day you tested? The heat and direct sunlight causes even the best commercial foam solutions to collapse faster. I wouldn’t worry too much about the foam being 1/2 gone in an hour, I get about the same results in the sun with the best stuff out there. What matters most is that it is durable enough to hold up when mixed into Aircrete. I would use your settings for the 3 pound density foam and do some small batches into 4-6” deep containers and see how the Aircrete holds up while curing. If it doesn’t collapse, then your setup is great! If it does collapse, I would get yourself some commercial foam solution and do some tests with that. Hope this helps!👍😀

Have you built anything out of aircrete? Maybe I'm missing it, but I haven't seen any of your aircrete samples or projects. We have found that foam density, soft water and good soap are key to good aircrete. The foam has to stay at a consistent weigh between 80 to 100 grams per quart. Would love to see some of your projects. 👍🙂

I have pulled back from my Aircrete projects because I can’t find any engineer that will stamp plans with Aircrete as the building material. I want to build an Aircrete dome home but I want it permitted so it is sellable someday. I have no problem producing consistent and strong Aircrete and I can produce it in any density that I need. It is really cool stuff! Are you building your home without a permit?
@RedandAprilOff-Grid
@RedandAprilOff-Grid 2 жыл бұрын
We are in the county just south of you and have the opt-out permit. There are a few regulations, but we can pretty much build however we want to. If we wanted to sell the house some day, we would likely have to owner finance it, but we are fine with that. We have some ideas on how to support the house, I think it will work well, but we haven't seen anyone else try it, so it's going to interesting. Getting the foam right is important and tricky, so it's cool you are able to do it with your homemade set-up. My husband considered trying to make one, but since we will be doing a lot of aircrete, he decided to just go ahead and buy a kit. 🙂
@PranaTech
@PranaTech 2 жыл бұрын
Hey , that’s great! I have never heard of this opt out permit. Does it still have to have inspections or do they completely leave you alone? All of my aircrete consistency issues went away when I started using a commercial foaming agen from a company called Vermilion. Their’s is designed specifically for aircrete and works amazing. I do have an engineer in Idaho who will approve my aircrete dome home design if I put a layer of rebar over it and shoot 1.5” of shotcrete over it all. I may end up going that way, but it adds a lot of work and cost to the project. I will be keeping my eye on your project as you go along. Much success to you both!😊👍
@RedandAprilOff-Grid
@RedandAprilOff-Grid 2 жыл бұрын
The first step is to get the septic permit, it is required. For the building permit, basically all they are inspecting is that you put your house and other structures where you said you were going to, and that it is far enough from the property lines and washes. The property also has to be zoned at least RU 4 to get this type of permit. I haven't heard of that foaming agent. We are using Drexel and we are adding a little extra glycerin just for good measure. We are excited to get started, but need to get the frame up first. Thanks! 😊

I am not truing to burden you about shipping and at the same time you have the best foam makes I have seen yet. Amazon is out of stock of the double diaphragm pump you used but Amazon.ca has them. Hi Ray, well that is cheaper than I paid to ship my medium one 1 state over to California! What shipping company did you use? I am building a larger foam generator right now and if you were interested in that one, I could crate it up if the shipping company you used was still shipping for reasonable prices. This model that I’m building right now is the same as the one in the video but has an open aluminum frame on wheels instead of enclosed in a box. It has a little bit larger pump so the foam output is greater than the one in my last video. It will need a larger compressor to run this system than the medium one but I’m sure you can source a compressor in the Philippines. 👍😁

Hi James! yeah, they aren’t the most modern company out there, but they make great foam concentrate! They just sell over the phone. Here’s their number. (800) 553-2404 I just call them direct and give them my credit card info. 👍😀

Has anyone tried adding a PVA (glue) type substance to limit bubble popping?

Airkrete company uses that but they have a patent and won’t divulge how they do it. They make a wall insulation that gets sprayed in with a hose. Airkrete.com 😊👍

This is what I call over-engineered product. Over thinking about minute details overlooks some major issues. How can we replace the steel scrubs when they are rust out, which they eventually do. A simple perforated tube at the exit would perhaps solve the problem you wanted to solve by over-engineering. Nice try!

Hi Farooq! Thanks for analyzing my work. The steel scrubbers should never need replacing because they are made of stainless steel and do not rust. This design is merely a copy of the commercially available equipment that the large companies sell for hundreds of dollars. My goal was to show how the average joe can build a functional wand for a fraction of the price with components found at almost any hardware or big box store. Thanks for watching my friend and many blessings to you!🙏😊

I think you should have put a screw-on section on the back of the wand so that you could adjust the scrubbies if needed

@@PranaTech no problem, I think us Air Creters new or old need to stick together and help each other where/when we can to make sure Air Crete become as widely used as any other building materials without the hassle of special permits🤣😂🛖🏘🏢🏤

Another foam agent I've run across is Allied Foam Technology www.alliedfoamtech.com/Appconc.htm which seems to have an outrageous product. No ordering details but they show their foam surviving 24 hours in a cup! Have you used this one?

@@PranaTech I did call Allied, they only sell to construction companies due to liability concerns. I'm now trying to acquire some Richway CMX, not straight forward since you can't just order some from their site.
