Longden-On-Tern cast iron aqueduct in Shropshire

Longden-On-Tern has the oldest cast iron aqueduct in the world.
Situated in Shropshire on the Shrewsbury Newport canal.
This video is a short introduction to some future longer more detailed videos about the grade 1 listed building designed by Thomas Telford.
Completed in 1796
These videos are to show some of the wonderful designs and fantastic architecture along the canal.
The Shrewsbury Newport Canal trust have been working hard on the restoration of this lovely canal.

It’s such a shame that there is so little will to restore the canal, certainly at Newport, all the key influencers seem to be casting so much doubt on its feasibility that it seems to block the idea. At one time I was subscribing and contributing to the canals funding and then realised Bugger all was ever going to happen. Such a shame
