It's interesting that the reason for the battle of the Alamo is taught a little differently in Mexico. You do realize, Jacob, that if you keep this up, you could single handedly bring back family road trips.

I love the history about the Alamo. It was originally known as the Misión San Antonio de Valero, is an historic Spanish mission and fortress compound founded in the 18th century by Roman Catholic missionaries in what is now San Antonio, Texas, United States. It was the site of the Battle of the Alamo in 1836, where American folk heroes James Bowie (a knife named after him) and Davy Crockett died. On April 21, 1836, the Texan Army under Sam Houston (a university and a city were named after him) attacked Santa Anna’s army on the banks of the San Jacinto River with cries of “Remember the Alamo! Remember Goliad! God and Texas!” The battle lasted only 18 minutes and was a resounding victory for the Texans. Have a great time Jake!

I got to visit the Alamo as part of a ghost tour, Sisters Grimm, totally reccomend btw next time anyone is down there. It was really informative, but what was creepy was that our tour guide said we were basically walking over the graves of fallen militia, their graves under the pathway. I can't remember fully but he said that enemy soldiers saw these six diablos with flaming swords standing around the soldiers at the entrance. The soldiers ran away, afraid for their life. It was believed they were either fallen soldiers or the monks who built the mission protecting it. It was a very humbling experience, in my opinion. We also saw a church where James Bowie married his wife and you can supposedly see faces in the walls, a place where a hispanic governor had lived, his wife killed and daughter taken into indentured servitude before she finally made her way back home, the holiday inn that was used for hangings where people would sit in a room and then a trap door would open in the ceiling and the body would drop from above. Apparently a spectator sport. There was just so much to learn.
@MsRene982 жыл бұрын
Correct, you are walking over the remains. People have been hunting for them for years, there have even been a couple of archeological digs, but no luck so far. The dead from the Alamo were all piled up and Santa Anna had them burned. They are now part of the sacred ground.

when I went to north Dakota there were some sculptures were you could take wonderful selfies and also there was a guy from the worlds record book who usually build all of those great sculptures and he owns a gift shop were I've been to and there I bought myself some playing cards that said Enchanted highway. Another thing is that I recommend going to north Dakota to see Enchanted highway again because last time I went the guy said that he was still building the castle. And that guy planned to build that amazing castle another thing that he said was that there is an amazing diner where you get treated like royalty and the rooms are amazing to stay in for the night. I recommend going there to Enchanted Highway.
