Good to see you back Andrew! I don't mind quartz movements, I have both mechanical and quartz watches in my collection. Quartz watches, from the makers of Cartier, Grand Seiko, Longines etc. are quality timepieces (assembly, finish and precision are top notch). I love the looks of the V.H.P.

I love my Hydroconquest but I like this one as well. Longines is one of the best brands for the price you pay for their products. Many underrate this brand just because of the price but I think Longines watches can challenge with higher priced watches.
@user-rm2lz1pq4e3 жыл бұрын
Completely agree. Got the Hydroconquest-Auto since March, loved it and found a great sale on the VHP GMT-43mm at a Canadian Authorized Dealer, Lugaro Jewellers, 2nd watch from them, so ordered it and on its way. I compared Longines to Tudor ,Maurice Lacroix, Frederique Constant and Omega, for the price, it's a fantastic value. Just started collecting and have 3, other one is the Movado SE Extreme. So just learning.

Hi Andrew. Thank you for taking the time to show off these exciting watches. Got one myself and are brilliantly happy. Just a little fun fact when you mention that we and you are mechanical. Remember that we are all controlled by the brain and nervous system via electrical signals. Just like Longines V. H. P. Keep up the good work😊

A short but factual review of an oft overlooked masterpiece. I have owned a White 41mm VHP GMT for a year now and I'm disappointed to announce that it has just leapt ahead of the world atomic clock by 1 second since it was purchased. BOTHER!!!!! This is an incredible timepiece, a little expensive compared to most 'quartzies' but worth every penny. Is the GMT a good value proposition over the 'bog standard' VHP?, I hear you ask. Many on the 'net' say no (usually those who have never owned one) IMHO it is, even if you do not travel extensively and use the Longines app on your phone to adjust the time to whichever country you are in, the perpetual calendar beggars belief, it even takes into account daylight saving-now that's pretty smart! I love the look of the black dial version above, as well as the carbon fibre one. I bought the original GMT in white as I thought it looked a little cleaner and classier than some of the other dial options at the time. I own a few quartz watches ranging in price from $1000 (the VHP GMT being the only one of the higher price range), and although the 'official' specs for this movement quote +/- 15 seconds per month, NONE of mine do worse than +/- 10 seconds. Most, in fact are 1-3 seconds fast or slow/month. I do like mechanicals as well!

I do not get that thing of many watch collectors complaining about Quartz movements. In any case, this watch is amazing, I only wish it had the same water resistance (300 m) as the automatic version.

I really like the depth of the dial with the applied indices and color scheme. It looks like they should have slimmed the case by a midge though.

Well, I like mechanical watches but have never felt the need to bash quartz technology as I am aware there are different grades of quartz movements ranging from cheap, non-repairable throwaways to jewelled and serviceable masterpieces. The Longines L288 is unique, its features and accuracy are head and shoulders above most, if not all, quartz movements. I have the Longines Conquest VHP and feel it is a very good quality watch and very easy to get on with. Basically you will not need to touch it once the time is set which is very easy to do: pull out the crown to its first position and rotate slowly to set the minutes (the second hand will automatically return to the 12 position). Turn the crown quickly and the hours can be set. It really is that simple. The date is automatically taken care of be it short months and/or leap years. A superb watch which I think will become a future collector's item.

On the off-chance that you actually get to read and be so kind as to reply to this message: I can't find the "Gold Coast 2018" version ANYWHERE. Even on Longines' website it is only mentioned in an article but doesn't seem to appear in their product catalog. You don't happen to have one "lying around" or knowing where to get one? Much appreciated! Cheers, ironically, from Switzerland...

If you think the GS (great watch) is worth over 5 times the price of the Longines, then be my guest. I would much rather have the VHP (I have owned one for 12 months now, see my comment above regarding it's accuracy) and spend the extra on another few watches. However, if I won the lottery, a GS spring drive would be winging it's way to my home tomorrow

Great watch! But I think that level of finishing and the attention to the details of super quartz's watches needs to step up their game. What I am saying is that the super quartz movements must have superior cases, bracelets, clasps... perhaps Longines needs to think of VHP diver collection, too...
