nice opinion. Disagree nearly entirely myself. Longlegs was pretty neat imo and built a nice sense of dread. Review Fujikos lie now

I also went into this film completely blind. I didn't watch any trailers or interact with the marketing at all. However, I absolutely loved Longlegs. it's a solid 8/10 for me. There was such a feeling of constant dread. I thought Cage and Monroe both gave excellent performances. My biggest complaint is where the narrative ended up going. Unfortunately, I only watched the first 90 seconds of your video as I have not seen Mandy yet, and I avoid any spoilers for things I haven't seen like the plague.

So much of the criticism about this film seems related to the marketing around it instead of the movie itself and that's kind of bizarre.

idk man I had a lot of fun with this one - not to mention, lee's personality is......kind of intentional? like? the whole point is the parallel that her mother allowed her to grow up when she never did because her entire existence and personality was snuffed - but honestly besides that I think she was a breath of fresh air in comparison to typical final girl or "girlboss" character
@diligentpractice

Exactly. Lee is almost completely disassociated from reality and follows EVERY instruction given to her throughout the movie. She even sits every time someone tells her to sit. Lee is a traumatized and unwilling accomplice just like her mother. Longlegs himself isn't all that important and is also just a puppet. The entire story revolves around the fact that these people are being manipulated by something they have no chance of contending with. They are all dolls for the devil to play with. How is no one grasping this when the movie makes it so obvious and in your face.

To me the movie is all style and no substance. It starts strong but then it just falls apart. It doesnt work as a detective film, or as a horror film. The director other film, The Blackcoats's daughter, plays better with the idea of if there is really a demon/supernatural entity or not. But here, at points becomes even cartoonish, with the "hail satan" and even the serpent dagger the mother has at the end, is like a 80s PSA from some church of how they imagine cults to be like. My main problem is Longlegs himself, i have no issue with a movie keeping information, it can work very well, but here its just frustrating. I wished they didnt show Longlegs interacting with people or driving, then you can play with the idea he isnt real. Or when he is captured, that they cant find any information on him, because then, mixed with his unusual features and behaviour, you could maybe say he isnt even human. But he has a name, knows how to drive, goes to buy things, and his whole motivation seems to be, "hail satan". I think a better ending wouldve been for him to be carrying the weight of serving a dark entity, and his whole plan all along, was for the protagonist to be the new bearer, now herself serving, in exchange of saving the daughter/family of his FBI boss. Overall, i dont think is a bad movie, it can hook you with the setting and atmosphere, but it feels undercooked.

I’ve surprisingly seen a fee promo with this take. But I disagree entirely because this movie was fucking dope. I like pretty much every neon and a24 film and this is easily one of the best in the horror department.

I agree on most points. I saw maybe the first 10 seconds of the trailer and stopped it cause I loved what I saw. Then it finally came out and it was pretty disappointing. Maybe I'm just getting older, but to me (and I want to be very clear that this is only some nobody's opinion on the internet, before I get sent to go watch Saw or the Conjuring) it's just one more of these new "aesthetic" movies that are a treat to the eye (cause boy oh boy, isn't this one gorgeous film), but incredibly frustrating story-wise. I really wanted to love it, but I barely liked it.

I saw Longlegs and was super pumped to see it. Visual enjoyed the movie, The stylization, the coloring and the visual setup. The story holds your hand the WHOLE TIME. Treats the audience like they are stupid and wouldn't be able to figure anything out themselves. It also should have picked a lane either be a paranormal horror or a thriller/detective movie. It having a random mash of both felt strange and just made the movie feel unsure of what it was suppose to be doing. the "twist" was done very poorly. Cage was fun but i think it would have been better not revealing his face until the very end interview. Hearing Hail satan non-ironically felt lame lol Main character felt so awkward to watch, no emotions and the letter being left in her house was never brought up again or what the whole motive of the dolls really were. we can assume a ritual of some sort but nothing felt like it had substance or actual meaning behind it. The Beginning of the movie amped me and i was expecting a lot. So maybe my expectations were high? but i felt like this movie didn't even make it off the ground. I do feel it could have been a super campy horror movie if they had leaned into that. That's just my opinion on it.

There’s no need to make a whole video about a movie, if all you got is “it’s mid”, while not horror, it was a fucking fantastic film

I disagree with you on many things in this movie, but subscribed to help your channel grow. Having the balls to say honestly how you feel is worth a sub! Oh and yeah Cage was not a good pick for this. It felt fake hearing him try to be scary. EDIT: Thanks for mentioning the 1997 film CURE. I am going to watch it next.

Yeah, I didn't like Longlegs, either. It had some good stuff, of course, like the cinematography and the use of T. Rex in the soundtrack. Plus I actually liked Cage's performance. He certainly creeped me out! Yet in the end it didn't feel like a fully realized idea, y'know? Like Perkins needed to fully flesh out his ideas more before shooting. And the funny part is I actually like some movies that focus more on atmosphere than plot, like Skinamarink. Then again, that particular movie reminded me of when I used to wake up in the middle of the night as a child and my mind would start playing tricks on me by making it look like weird stuff was happening in my room.

this video is embarrassing. the whole video whining that its not like 'silence of the lambs' or 'zodiac' and other movies he watched. and complains about Nicolas cage, who he thinks is copying heath ledger. as if heath ledger is the first to play a clown. if you tried to watch the movie and appreciate it for itself , instead of constantly being busy thinking of other movies you watched, you might have liked the movie
