Loved Arches! We were there in April and it was already hot. Not "I can't hike in this weather" hot, but about 3X the water you think you'll need is a requirement. FYI, my friend and I are pushing 70, and she's terrified of heights. We both did fine on the Arches hike and she just stuck to the wall side of the scary part and did great. Oh, and it's supposed to be 3 miles round trip, but it felt like 10! Water and snacks are a must. But remember, 2 out-of-shape nearly 70-year-old ladies did it! So can you!

We were there July 2020 yes it was hot, we stayed in town and Dead Horse Point State Park, which was awesome, we didn't get to see all of Archs, we were waiting for family to go with us. If anyone is wanting to do there in the summer, found a where you can cool off 😉 thank's for sharing, your video was great...

If you don't mind driving, Green River State Park in Green River Utah is about 45 minutes away from Arches. We used it as our base of operations while we visited Arches, Canyonlands and Dead Horse State Park a couple years ago.

Make sure you stop at the visitors center and book for the Fiery Furnace trail. You need a permit or a guided tour for this hike, but it is well worth it!

I was just in Arches in May '21 and LOVED it. Loved Moab to, but it's expensive. We boondocked off Dalton Wells Rd north of Moab, but I understand it's being turned into a state park next year. There were dinosaur bone fragments that were found there. Yes, that very steep hike to Delicate Arch made this grandmother a bit delicate as well, I'm also not into heights so that last bit of the trail was a real challenge for me, but I did it. I didn't go down to the arch, figured I had already tested my endurance enough. Coming down was a breeze though! Thanks for the video!!

We just left Moab yesterday after spending a week there. Moab was like Times Square on New Year’s Eve, only 80 degrees warmer. We hiked to Delicate Arch at 5:30 am on Thursday. We were back at the trailhead at 8:10 and a Park Ranger told us that the park was closed for the 73rd day in the row. So the people who can’t get into Arches decide to drive to Canyonlands, where the wait to get into by that time is two hours. BTW, at this time of year you cannot miss the Delicate Arch Trail. Just follow the thousands of people on the trail. The Jailhouse Cafe in Moab is great for breakfast. No matter which park you visit, get there early, early, early.

We loved Arches and I agree that the hike to Delicate Arch is harder than it looks and should be take early in the morning. We went up at 7am and there were already over 100 people there. Outside of the National Park on the other side of Hwy 191 is Corona Arch which is huge, and virtually un-visited. There were only 3 other people there when we hiked to it. I also agree that if you're in the area you should definitely make the effort to visit Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse Point State Park, both are spectacular.

One thing you didn't mention is that shoulder seasons are wonderful at Arches. I went last April, and temperatures were mid-70s and crowds were, if not low, at least reasonably-sized. We didn't have a problem finding parking at any of the places we stopped, and we stopped at most of the places. I'd also say not to be too intimidated by the Delicate Arch hike. I made it just fine, and I'm 100 lbs overweight. Also, "slickrock" is a bit of a misnomer as it is not slick; it's sandstone and it provides tremendous traction. One of our favorite sights in the park is the Park Avenue trail, which you did highlight in your video but didn't call out by name.

AND, another FREE place to stay in the area (sort of) is Buzzards Belly General Store in Cisco, Utah. This is a Harvest Host location that is pretty unique. They actually get a fair amount of traffic from the River Rafting groups that run the Colorado River above Moab, and they are an easy detour off I-70. Although we did not stay because of a travel commitment, we stopped and had a wonderful visit with the proprietors, which was half the population of the town (pop. 4).

Great Video! We live in northern Utah and we've been to Arches many times and we agree with everything you've said. One other thing to try when in Moab is a river rafting trip down the Colorado. We've done it twice with kids and everyone loved it. They take you by bus from Moab up stream (east) from Moab and drop you off to float down stream on rafts through some spectacular scenery. They have full day and half day trips.

Love this video. Love this park. I've been to Arches 6 time. Can't wait to go again. Everytime I try and do a new hike. I highly recommend Landscape Arch and just a little ways further is Navajo and Partition Arches. Most people walk right by these two on their way to Double O Arch- which is a great destination but these two arches are like 5 minutes off the main trail. If I were to give a tip, I'd say go out of season, when the kids are in school and the weather isn't as oppressively hot like you mentioned. Late September and late April are perfect times to go.

I have been to Moab for a week or longer on seven different occasions. Sometimes we have taken the 1984 Airstream 31 ft and other times we did hotel. I have been in cooler weather in March, and in the depths of Summer where it was 108-110 degrees each day and it was like hiking in a red brick pizza oven. This was a GREAT video with an adequate amount of cautions. I would add: Do NOT leave a pet in the vehicle from March to October....it is entirely too hot. If anyone is going in Summer, educate yourself in desert heat knowledge, and become versed in heat first aid. I cannot tell you how many times I have encountered people wearing black clothing on the trail, and they have half a liter bottle of water that is half gone, it is 105 degrees, and they are climbing that bare slickrock with no shade. Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke are a real thing, and all who read this should know the signs. Wear loose fitting LIGHT COLOR clothing. Wear a wide brim hat that breathes. Have salty sugary snacks. Drink half a liter of water every half hour in mid day heat. My wife and I did 7-12 miles a day in 110 degree heat to reach destinations for evening photography shots, and returned in that kind of heat from early morning photography without heat related incidents for ourselves, but did have to assist way too many unprepared people who might have died had we not come along. It is that serious. And if you would like to see some of the photos from Moab area, google "dsphotoscapes flickr", and there is a share site where you can download some free wallpaper.

Hey, great video, finally found it! I went to Arches/Canyonlands in 2005 (seems like yesterday)... stayed in a hotel but was in the park each day for 3 days before sunrise and after sunset each day, hiked many trails but didn't feel like I saw it all. Your comments regarding the hike to Delicate Arch are spot on. Some crowds in the park but not that bad when I was there but a long time ago and not in a pandemic! We are RV'ers now and I am looking forward to getting back out west and Arches is a MUST on my list! I saw at the end of your video that you were at Mesa Arch in Canyonlands, were you there before sunrise by any chance? I did it and it was magical to say the least!

But about 20 minutes after the sun came up, it lit up the underside of the arch I the most beautiful way. Worth getting up at 4:00 am for

Wrapping up our 4th time here in Moab...interesting story about Delicate Arch...during the printing of the park map the names were printed incorrectly for Delicate Arch and Landscape Arch! Yep! They made a mistake, and it stuck, because the National Park service decided it was too expensive to reprint the maps! So Delicate Arch was really Landscape Arch and Landscape Arch...well, you get the picture! Arches National Park is still amazing and one of our favorite National Parks! Love Moab too! Great video!

We were there earlier this year with out daughter and her family and were able to miraculously reserve Devil's Garden campsites next to each other. It is absolutely one of our favorite campsites ever! You mentioned there may be a dozen arches that are easily viewable. We saw close to fifty, with not too much hiking (even with five kids nine and under). You didn't mention my favorite "sculpture" in the park, Balanced Rock. One morning we went into town. When going to return to camp, the park was full and we had to go back into town and wait for 3-1/2 hours before returning. Everyone should visit Arches at least once in their lifetime!

I was at Arches in May 2019. Got there around sunrise to beat the crowd. I didn't have to worry much about the heat because the weather peaked around 50 degrees that day. Loved it. My favorite national park. And the Delicate Arch hike was my favorite part. Gawd, that middle section up the mound of slick rock was rough, but I just took frequent breaks, took some photos drank some water and made it up. I loved the way the trail was designed so that you don't see the big arch until you turn the corner and - BAM - there it is.

My wife and I loved Arches and were fortunate to reserve 3 nights in awesome Devils Garden this May. The campsites were roomy. We came prepared our RV water tank full, and the grey and black tanks empty. We also took and drank plenty of water while we toured. We used the Jeep we tow to tour the park never leaving the park until our reservation was over. The switchback road just after entrance into the park was a great introduction to the grandeur ahead. We also had reservations in Zion after and we really wondered if Zion would be a letdown after Arches. Zion was great too, only different.

Spring and Fall is peak season. Winter with crampons maybe best. Low crowds.

May, June, July, and early August have the most visitors to arches. September and early October have a burst of activity, particularly around Labor Day.

We went to the arches the summer before covid hit and it was AMAZING!!!! We did the tour in 4x4 Jeeps that was sooooo good! Highly recommend it! We also came from the southern loop of the Grand Canyon where we did the rafting tour around the horseshoe bend, our second time on that tour this time we took our kids.

We have been supporting a cycling event in Moab (Skinny Tire Events) for 20 years. We get to do the aid station at Devil’s Garden. Always spectacular to drive through the empty park early in the morning as the sun is coming up. Great video-you really captured it. What campground did you find with all that shade???

Great video! I got to spend 6 weeks on a project near Moab back in the day and I stayed in Moab. BEAUTIFUL country but I never made it to Arches Nat Park. It did snow while O was there and that looked amazing. The people were good to. Great times.

Just got back from a 3 week trip to southern Utah in May (4 of the Mighty 5 NPs, and Dead Horse Point State Park). Arches was our favorite by far. Terrific hiking for those of us who are not avid hikers, and incredible scenery. We arrived at the gate at 8 a.m. both mornings we were there, and the lines were already building, so I second your advice to get there as early as possible.

We stayed in Devils Garden about 5 years ago. We had to reserve 6 months in advance way back then.

We like to hike to Corona Arch when in Moab. It's around the corner from the National Park and it's free

I just left there over Memorial weekend. ...total agree with ever thing you said. I was there 3 weeks in my minivan. The line to get in was 3 hours! Yes!!! check the webcam, bring lots of water!!! Moab was busy...make that "packed". Busy place but so worth it! I parked in Klondike (BLM). Awesome!

My favorite national park! Delicate arch clearly, but also enjoyed easier hike to Landscape arch - mostly level (as I recall) but longer.

Agree with everything that you have said. Funny story; about 5 years ago we scored a few nights on the loop. Up early one morning, a guy was walking to the restroom, totally obvious that there was a large mountain lion about 30 yards behind him. Thought about yelling, decided that may lead to problems. As it turned out the guy entered the bathroom, lion continued up the road.
