Longplay of Super Mario 64 [HD]

Whew! So as most of you hopefully know.. I already had this game uploaded years ago but it was under composite quality. This new recording is done with a PixelFX HDMI mod. This is the highest possible quality you can get out of a N64 without using modifications such as internal upscaling or deblur. Yes, I left deblur off because I felt like it was more natural to do so. The end result is that this video doesn't look THAT much better than the original composite recording but atleast it's a perfect representation of what the N64 tried to output. As for the gameplay.. I want to make a few things clear. I tried my best to play this game as casually as possible because that's how we try to do our longplays. There was no excessive longjumping to cover distance quicker or usage of certain skips to complete stages faster. I didn't want to make this look like a speedrun because that's not what this channel about nor would I do any good job at it lol. This game is notorious for it's terrible camera as well as bad controls (N64 joystick). Hopefully this natural gameplay showcases that. There are certain short pauses in the game where I need to make sure to get my angles right so I don't miss an important jump which would lead to having to re-do the entire stage. Yes, my hands definitely caught some sweat during some stars!! Nonetheless, I had fairly good fun with this game. I think the difficulty is quite on-par as most casual players would be able to atleast complete the game and the slightly more experienced players would be able to shoot for 120 stars. Aside from Tick Tock Clock, there aren't really any hard regular stars. The difficulty comes with the 100 coin stars mostly. I struggled with Tiny Huge Island 100 coins.. but I later learned to ground pound Goomba's for BLUE coins instead of yellow coins.. it's supposedly one of the easiest 100 coin stars so -- heads up! With all that being said, I hope you enjoy the video. We'll possibly do the Nintendo Switch anniversary edition one day as it supposedly has a much better camera and obviously better controls so it'd allow for an improved run without using emulation.

@@darobster5520 Niko made Phantasy Star part of his two uploads for this day so I had the chance to put one of my uploads against it as a third. Normally I do a Master System upload but that was Phantasy Star for this day, so I planned out Super Mario 64 re-up. There'll be a few more rare occasions like that in the next 10 months but not many. Next game would probably be a Zelda one.

Legendary! It's a great accomplishment to finish this game in my opinion, because I've never fully finished it somehow haha. I know many have, but it can be so fun to go back to levels and just explore and I never seemed to quite make it to the very end.
