I was 15 in 1991. I love the audio on this game and of course graphics and gameplay. This is a nice flashback. Good times 😀.

Huge respect to anybody who can make this (or any R-Type game) look so easy. The thing I never liked about the series is that if you lose one life you may as well quit, because losing your upgrades makes victory near impossible.

Agreed to some extent. At the least you start back from the start of the stage. Allowing you to gain back a decent number of powers back. Unlike the checkpoints that leave you with little power-ups.

@@OneRoomShed that's fair. Dream of a Labyrinth was actually one of my favorites, love how funky it is. (Same with R-Dance!) But If I had to choose one to leave out, it would probably be the Bydo Anthem, I just wasn't a big fan of that one.

This game is absolutely awesome! Wow what nostalgia. I played there the first time when I was 10-11 years old. I'm 32 now. I finished it in emulation about 13 years ago. What an era! When I discovered pearl after pearl the masterpieces of the snes. Thanks to you xRavenXP for making me rediscover this game. I didn't watch the whole video because it's been so long since I finished it that I would like to do it again because I forgot all the levels! Thanks again for your videos and good game. PS sorry for any English errors but I use the google translator ^^ my English is not that great!

Watching this remind me of a old DOS-Game where you control a spaceship which can transform into a robot. The Background is black, the ship/robot dont shoot strainght but is always hitting the nearest enemy. If the enemies touches him the life bar decrease. If necessary you can also turn back left to flee from the enemies. Its been so long that i cant remember the name anymore.

Did you install the prereqs? Besides installing the Prereqs, you need to put all the bios in the Firmwares folder (each console has its own bios). Remember that each version of Bizhawk needs its own folder.

Why does the Super Nintendo flicker even though it looks like there are far less than 32 sprites per scan line? The SNES should be capable of filling the entire screen with sprites with no flicker [do the math, 8x8 sprites x 32 per scan line, equals 256x256 pixels, thats more than the systems screen resolution]. And the SNES can do 16x16 pixels sprites all the way up to 64x64. Yet look at all the flicker there is in these SNES games.
@douglasmurphy32662 жыл бұрын
Part of it would be what you think looks like 1 sprite is 2 or 4 or more, flipped mirrored and pieced together to conserve memory.
@yod12132 жыл бұрын
@@douglasmurphy3266 I hear what you' re saying but it still doesn't seem right. It just seems like the system flickered to easily and it just doesn't add up to me . I wish people would do videos where they are counting the sprites to show us.
@maxwelseven2 жыл бұрын
Other than the number of sprites in a horizontal line, there's also 2 more reasons for this to happen: 1 - If there are more than 256 pixels of sprites in a horizontal line, you will see they tearing up. It doesn't matter if they are filling the screen or overlapping each other. 2 - If you use more than 128 sprites slots, enemies will lose or flicker parts of his bodies (as most of SNES games uses more than 1 sprite to show a single character). This game is one of those that uses 8x8 and 16x16 sprites only. So, reaching 128 sprites slots can be easy.

level 3 is so bad. they took out the water and hodge podged a bunch of enemies from other levels . those spider enemies from the last level that come at you and the first level red ships. i cannot beleive Irem did this. I guess snes was so weak it couldnt handle water. sad thats what made the level so cool in the arcade. I dont like how you have to load the boss and the graphics scale up like that it annoying you are supposed to just get to Boss w/o that the PC engine Rtype didnt do this
