I like your approach of putting this DLG together. Looking forward to the rest of your assembly and flights as I have one in a box to build too 👍 (among others 😊)

Hey Dan, If you were to build another Long Shot 4, would you further modernize it by putting all four servos in the pod?

Yes, but to do that you’d need to request one from the manufacturer without the ailerons cut free so the cut could be moved closer to the fuse, and also to delete the routing for the wing servos. I think that would shed another 15/20g. I’d also make my own tails if I built another. I could make ones on the order of half the weight of the factory ones, which would bring the AUW down quite a bit as well. That plane flew very nicely at 316g. If it was 270, it would be a whole next level up for sure.

Thanks! Yes, it would be a bit of a stretch to get the pushrods from the pod out to the ailerons. What if I already have a LS4 kit, do you think it is worth trying?

Well. I could be done but you’d need to cut more of the flaperon free at the root and patch the old cut line very securely. I’d prob just put the servos in the wing man. But I could be done.

I do not want to mess with the wing. I was thinking of installing the flaperon horns as close as possible to the pod and then make the pushrods reach them from the side of the pod. Haha, sorry, this is not the best place to discuss this. I should start a thread on RCGroups. Thanks for the replies!

Could You help me with how to drill the wing so that my latest "Hawk" can have such a top drive? If I put the servos in the nose, that method won't work, right?
@banko4442 жыл бұрын
Well no. The servos would have to be in the wing and with a shear web they would have to be buried aft of the spar. Honestly I don’t particularly like the top drive. I won’t be doing it again. 4 in the pod with pushrods makes much more sense. This longshot would have been 15+ grams lighter if it wasn’t top drive with the servos in the wing.

@@banko444 Thank You for helper words! But Your Longshot 4 flies so nice! I like when You use the brakes at going home.
