Darren, “Kirkland” Airlines uses PBS? I didn’t know that. My former employer (retired FedEx) doesn’t…(yet).

@@geekontheflightdeckOur union, ALPA, has fought at every contract negotiation not to have PBS on property. However, FedEx crew scheduling works tirelessly to get around the contract and treat them all like PBS/reserve pilots. If you ever get the chance, talk to a FedEx crew member about revisions, extensions, and substitutions to their monthly lines/schedules. Some of them you would laugh over, others would infuriate you. (PS: I said “them” because as I commented previously, I have retired. It’s not my fight anymore).

PBS does lead to less productive trips as the system makes schedules to maximize pilot workload and kill any soft pay. Reassignments here can be very “annoying” especially on the wide body. Flight cancel while overseas? Cool. You come back the next day. No extra pay working a day off beyond per diem.

Woohoo!!! You got a line!!! I am curious, what airplane type has the most pilots based at DFW? Also I went to your much beloved Charlotte 😂. It seemed like the only Kirkland airplanes were Airbuses, is Charlotte exclusively an Airbus base for Kirkland or are other types based there?

I think Airbus is bigger in DFW and definitely bigger in CLT. CLT has 320,737 and 777 pilots based there.
