☝️The Queen's Gambit '23 Crown Longsword Silver Medalist, everyone. It was an enjoyable match! I appreciated the deliberateness of your movements. Nothing wasted.

You were the guy with the squid on the back? Your bouts here looked intense.

That was awesome to watch! As a total stranger to fencing, it really seems super technical.

As a complete beginner just starting to get introduced to fencing, this was great to watch! It's only increased my interest in it just that much more!

You had such good posture at 4:30, and the way you move your blade smooth is strong.

I love your channel because I get to see the practice AND the competition of full fencing. Props to the camera person. Also, where I am at we don't wear suits! Might have a talk with my Baron XD

Man, the guy you fought after 4:07 did some pretty swift and precise stabs right into your body. Some of your bouts around the third minute and some others later on are almost as much back and forth with a lot of blade contacts as swordfights in film. When you closed in and started grappling, often catching your opponent's blade, did you often win?

Not all of my grapples met scoring conditions, but I don't think I lost any.

@@robinswords I don't have any experience myself but what you did here looked impressive. Thanks for sharing the footage.

@@robinswords I take it the referee doesn't only separate you after a point has been scored but also does that to have you start again, correct? What exactly is the point of that?
@robinswords Жыл бұрын
@@xCorvus7x It's a useful visual signal. A waving of the flag to start, so to speak.
@xCorvus7x Жыл бұрын
@@robinswords it certainly is. Please excuse me, however, that is not what I meant. You mentioned bouts where you turned to grappling and neither player scored a point, so apparently the referee separated you before the bout could be finished, so that you can have another go at it, as if grappling meant you were deadlocked in a way. Why exactly does the referee do this?

Good fights out there. It must have been a good time.

it looks great but its hard to follow. If you’d like to teach, that could be a video on its own. for example, I cant see to find out who’s the winner. what the shouts from the ref mean. etc. I love your other video’s as you’re good at explaining the concepts and techniques. But a tournament might be interesting to learn about as well :)

Yeah I had a lot of trouble understanding it as well. I would love to see a narrated and perhaps slowed down version of these fights, so that newbies like us can appreciate them better

@@robinswords Really? I'm surprised, I would think that having a lengthier blade would be beneficial. Though I could understand wanting something shorter if you tend to get close

@@Chibi_changa Both correct observations. You can see my difficulties in approaching people who have me outranged. At the same time, it all goes great for me once I get in close.

@Kingdomkey123678 Жыл бұрын
Each match is to four points You can earn 3 points for a High Quality Thrust to the Mask or Torso 3 points for a High Quality Cut to the Mask or Torso. 1 Point for a high quality cut or thrust to anywhere else on the body. A high quality cut or thrust is one that would have ended the fight if the duelists were using actual sharp swords and fighting with out wearing protective gear. So it needs Good edge alignment and sufficient force (determined by the Ref). Only clean hits are scored, if you fail to withdraw safely no one gets any points. Meaning if you hit your opponent and they land a hit on you at the same time or within seconds of your hit landing then neither of you get any points.
