It’s like they made the dlc to prove how strong blocking really is. I’m going home and getting this tonight 😂

As with usual, there's better and worse but no absolutes. Even blunt weapons can slide off curved armor and need some grip.

Ah, yes, the misapprehension that "anti-armor" must imply, I guess, that it would be capable of reliably blasting through said armor all around. You know, rather than the more reasonable interpretation of "designed to be as effective as is possible against armor, even if armor is still really effective."

This sort of nonsense is what got Magellan killed. Miguel Lopez Delegaspi brought guns and cannons, and the Spaniards ruled my country for 400 yrs. Til they sold us to the Americans, because we were an unruly bunch....

The billhook was used behind the shieldline where the billhook would be able to pull down the opposite shield wall(hook down) then the poll hammer would be able to break through the line, it was just one of the potential strategies used to break the wall. Rather than just pound the wall until so.ething broke/gave way.

You don't even have to rattle the bones. If the armour's occupant is sufficiently rattled that he decides to quit the field, that's still victory.

@JustGrowingUp84

Hand guns of that age, not so much. At least, not against the high quality armor. Of course, they can still get through the weakest parts, especially at short distance, but that's true of strong bows and crossbows as well. Cannons, on the other hand... Look at the wikipedia page for: Jacques de Lalaing He's a famous knight cut down in his prime by a cannon shot.

This is kinda like the British made HESH (High explosive squash head) that uses a soft plastic head to mold and create a large surface area in a tank before exploding which causes the other side of the armor to shrapnel off on the inside of an enemy tank without actually penatrating the armor of the tank

How effective would it be to stagger the timing of the swings coming from the same side that way you demonstrated? Would this also cause one of the cuts to lose power?

Would hammers be more useful in battle against armor than swords? Or would armor be able to take a hit from a hammer?
@FirstLast-wk3kc
@FirstLast-wk3kc 13 сағат бұрын
It can take a hit, but the bones inside might be in danger. Or brains. Or neck. Sword can be used to hit weak spots, like armpits. (Halfswording, or even mordhau) So both can be good if applied with proper technique. But. Some swords would be bad at some of said techniques, while others would excel at them. Wheras war hammers and etc are more prone to be the same category of effectiveness
@thinnedpaints6503
@thinnedpaints6503 13 сағат бұрын
Depends on who you're fighting, if you took roughly equivalent sized hammers and swords, but you're fighting largely poorly armoured opponents, the swords are probably better, and if you're fighting against someone in full plate, hammer. Though bear in mind swords are still very useful against armour, shoving the point through gaps and weak spots is good, and smashing someone's fingers to bits also works great. Swords are a better general use tool, which is sorta what you want as a secondary weapon, as they generally were.

@@AntInfestedFoamRunners keep in mind best melee weapons are polearms, basically. Halberd's inertia is super dangerous to armoured foes too. Want even more "anti-armour"? Take Bec De Corbin or Poleaxe (despite it being generally a knight weapon). And etc.
