Before you had the floor what did you tie the handle off to that’s a good spot ? Don’t wanna pull on any one support to hard maybe tie to multiple ? Don’t wanna make rivets separate

When I had the small swamp runner kit on a 212, the tiller weight was minimal so I tied it to the rib. When I went to the medium kit, that is when it seemed a bit excessive which also made me think about it. So it was either mount a support on the front of the seat face or build the floor. I decided to build the floor because it solved other issues I was having.

I’m running 22 predator and a swamp runner so it’s heavy. What do you mean by build a support on front seat like some aluminum side to side ? I’m gonna go that route I think. If I can understand how you think to do it ! Thanks
@JTgatoring10 ай бұрын
@@coltensawyer6761 I was talking about adding additional support to the seat. So I was thinking of adding either a plate/channel/tube to strengthen the actual seat and then tie it to that. So for example; put a piece of plate on the front part of the bench seat and secure an eye-bolt and hook there to tie a rope too or use square tube bolted or riveted across the bottom of the bench seat and put an eye-bolt or hook in that. Do whatever you can to strengthen the sheet metal on the bench seat and disperse the load as much as possible. I've also seen people use webbing with a hook on each end and put one hook under the seat and one hook on the handle. Think it through

@@JTgatoring thanks for the idea ! What about just a thick hay hauling ratchet strap that is long around the hole bench then hooked to the handle ? That would disperse it well over the hole thing correct ?

I'm starting to see more of these longtails out there. People seem to be enjoying them!
@cdp503594 жыл бұрын
Lots of people don't realize that. Well pointed out. 2 thumbs up bro. Here is a idea for ya. Have a rope without a loop. Then put another rope on it with a prusik loop on it. You can then adjust your height according to your weight without untying anything. Just slide the prusik up or down.

Thank you C Price! Good idea with the prusik! We use that for rope rescue and that seems like it would definitely work. I greatly appreciate you watching the videos and giving me the awesome pointers like this

I’m somewhat new to the boat scene. I’ve been searching all over for a cheap outboard with no luck. Somehow stumbled upon your videos which have been awesome. Now I’m looking for a mud motor my main question for you is I’m trying to run mine up and down rivers have you found the 85 inch shaft is hard to manage or fairly easy? I believe I’m going with the 13hp motor with my kit. My main goal is to run rivers for striper and catfish and a outboard is just to pricy.
@JTgatoring4 жыл бұрын
13hp is a perfect size for a 1436 boat, and if you're getting a longtail kit, I would recommend a Swamp Runner. At first you will wonder how anyone functions with an 85" shaft sticking out the back. Once you run it, put it on and off the trailer a few times, and put it up some creeks and tight places, you learn how maneuver it. Its a learning curve but I'm use to it know and use it to my advantage

Are these long tail kits recommended for salt water use?
@jeanfrancoissavard32224 жыл бұрын
Yes (SPS) even have salt water kit ( more expensive)
@brandondalonzo78014 жыл бұрын
What company do I search for those?
@JTgatoring4 жыл бұрын
Yes they would actually designed for saltwater us in Thailand. The Swamp Runner SPS mud motor has a "saltwater" kit which means the shaft has a stainless steel inner shaft so it helps prevent rusting if not maintained properly. The standard shaft would also work just fine, you just have to maintain it better
