I can still recall seeing Lonnie in Redondo Beach, CA, at a place called Concert By the Sea. There wasn't a bad seat in that relatively small venue. My buddy, Victor Palos, had turned me on to Lonnie while in college. Victor ended up being the best man in my wedding. I lost my friend to cancer three years ago. Now, I keep his memory alive by listening to this music. I tell my children that music is as much about the experience you engage in while listening to music, as the act of listening to the sounds.

Wish I had someone to love and share this music with. I hear this track and I reflect on my life and all the pain and pleasure I ever knew...it's overwhelming, haunting and mystical...so nice to know that there are people who like this kind of music out there

Hey im so glad you enjoyed this and "a Frozen lake" really man, check out Lonnie. He's the best at what he does in my opinion. He has so many amazing compositions. He creates the type of music that will last throughout the ages. Sad not many people know of him. But the few who do, we're lucky. This is pure beauty in instrumental form. Please do yourself a favor and buy some of his albums. It's just the BEST! :-D

"Garden of Peace" on the Album Astral Traveling by Lonnie Liston Smith is quite the similar song, just a much earlier recording. We find Peace in our Hearts by listening to the harmony of the recordings of lonnie liston smith.

You did a great job of splicing photos with the music. Truely an epic musician in Lonnie Liston Smith. As a fan of his since the beginning I have enjoyed his music in so many ways. Funky to the bone. Soft as silk. Eye's closing to travel to far off spaces and time. Emotional. Cosmic Echoes where only Space Princesses reside. Holding my love deep in my arms while caressing her smoothness in my heart. Music is the essence of soul.

I've been listening to Lonnie Liston Smith the middle of the late 70's. It's a shame the corporate controlled radio media dont allow this type of music to heard. Today you have people that dont know quality musicianship in general and progressive Jazz specifically to have watered and doom down the listening audience over the last 20 years. Deregulation and corporate buy outs of the air ways created this.

Ok. This is gonna trip some out (tripped ME out). But this song reminded me of the scene in the film PurpleRain in which the dad is playing the piano. Say what u will about that film, I always thought the actor who played the dad showed raw emotion. And I guess I felt that (& the sound) madeconnection here?
