Come back with a dredge and a boiler box bolted on. The dredge tender would have to empty it every couple minutes!!

Back in 2015 I had just broken my ankle and at 2:30 am while Writhing in pain I turned on KZbin and found my first Chigg video and he was detecting with Dan. Brings back good and bad memories!! I love Dan !!

Dan has helped me find a river spot once through online talks. I only found one bullet and one case shot but that's because he had been to the same spot numerous times before and dug it all! Good times! So what's the thinking on this spot Beau? Ford where yankees got their cartridge boxes wet and just dumped them? If they lost their cartridge boxes then surely you and Dan would have been finding box plates all over the place.

I'd say that they lost a couple of crates from a cart crossing the river. Either that or they were dumped in the river to ruin the gunpowder to stop them being captured

@@allenschmitz9644 Civil War ammunition was typically self-contained in paper cartridges. The cartridge would contain both the bullet and the powder. Soldiers would tear the cartridge and dump the powder in, then ram the bullet home, cock the rifle's hammer, put a percussion cap on, then fire. If a case or so of cartridges fell or were thrown into the river, the wooden case and paper cartridges would have rotted away, leaving the lead bullets laying on the river/stream bed.

Chig has found so many artifacts he just enjoys someone else finding them. When i go hunting indian artifacts I am the same way. If its something I already have I will call my friend over and see if he can spot it. I like to leave things in Situ and teach someone what to look for

What I can't figure is... no rivets, straps, buckles or badges! Nothing but a pile of miscellaneous rounds, judging from the powder... How?? If they were disarming a captured company there would be broken muskets and whatnot. If there was a camp, there would be other acutrimond. If it was a body dump, all kinds of stuff..... what a crazy mystery!!

I love relic hunting with Chigg. One thing he taught me was in the rain, the bullets by the hundreds would be ruined some times in just a quick rainstorm. The paper used on the bullets was ruined and no longer usable, making these huge lots of bullets found
