My apologies for the long comment ahead. When I was in high school, I told myself that I would be a mangaka someday. My drawing skills were... eh... well, I could definitely draw more than just stick figures lol. Nothing special, but I still wanted to chase that. I remember buying one of those "How to Draw Manga" books because of course I did... and I spent a bit of my summer drawing. Definitely did not go as hard as Fujino, but I remember finding a forum for anime/manga artists and sharing my art with them. I would sketch some stuff, scan it, and have it critiqued. To be quite honest, I was not very happy with my progress. I hadn't made much of it... but I also hadn't really drawn *that* much. Still, I wanted to draw (though at that time I had shifted from wanting to be a mangaka to wanting to be an illustrator). I think that, ultimately, somewhere along the way, I just gave up. In retrospect, I can tell you I was impatient... but I also saw so many other talented people draw so much better than I and well, as they say, comparison is the thief of joy. I never actually threw my hands in the air and told myself "I give up" or anything like that. I just sorta gave up quietly... When I started college, one of the classes I took either my first or second year was figure drawing. That class was equal parts interesting and painful. I had gotten to draw with tools I'd never used before, learned different perspectives, and met some nice acquaintances... still, the painful part was still comparing myself to others. The class wasn't really one of those "intro to art" classes, or even an "intermediate" level course. There were people with a wide range of skill levels, from those only having a passing interest in art, to those who very clearly dedicated their souls to it. I don't think I felt very much coming out of that class. I had my major to work on and a direction beyond that. I eventually graduated, and got into med school. Those last few years of college felt like a painful crawl to the goal, but I got in somehow. I am now a doctor in my last year of residency training. It has been... 16 or so years since I'd told myself I wanted to be a mangaka... and here I was holding back the tears watching this movie. I'd read the manga before watching the movie still had me crying haha. It just really hit me like nothing else. It made me want to draw. Heck, I bought a sketchbook. I've yet to draw on it, though. To be quite honest, I'm kinda terrified, terrified of not improving. At the same time, I also feel like I have been through so much at this point, and this is something I have to do, something I want to do... but this time I want to draw, not to become an illustrator, or a mangaka or anything of that sort, but just draw for its own sake. I want to create. I know that it's going to be difficult with my schedule (which sometimes involves working 70-80 hours per week), but I'm going to do it. The good thing is that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel as far as residency is concerned. I'm doing Family Medicine. Third year is the last year, and once I'm done, I'll simply work as a doctor... but I will draw. If you read all of this, I'm so sorry haha... but thank you. I hope you have a wonderful day.

To be honest, I've been feeling swamped with responsibilities lately, being 17 and thrown into college and transitioning into adult life. It's been tough, I've drew here and there, given up along the way, just recently making uo my mind to presue art, no matter how difficult the journey may become. But I must say, after reading this one-shot. I've never come closer to crying about a piece of media than I have with this manga, it touched me on so many levels and reignited that flame that I've been trying to keep alive. I leave this comment as promise to myself that I will improve in art and that I will keep moving foward, no matter how difficult it is. And to those who are on this journey aswell. Keep persevering, I promise you'll make it. No matter how difficult and impossible it may seem. We can all do this!!
