When building a home theater system or a home audio system using in wall speakers is perfect for keeping speakers hidden and out of the way while still getting great sound! I find in-wall speakers work especially well for the surround sound speakers in a home theater system giving you those added surround effects but without having wires all over the floor or speakers in the middle of your room in the way. But when picking in wall speakers I like to make sure they have a nice robust mounting solution. Let's take a look at the install of these speakers as I continue my home theater build project.

For a neater hole in your drywall, cut the outline with a straight edge and a sharp utility knife first. Score deeply by doing a few passes and then saw just inside the line. Nice straight edges and prevents overcuts like the top left corner of marks hole.

As a home audio installer if you have a circle speaker, chances are you’ll have a template with the speakers. Find your location to install, tape the template to the ceiling draw and outline with a non permanent marker. I usually make an x in the center to find the center point. Drill a hole for the center point then use an oscillating multi tool and cut along the lines on the x to the perimeter of the speaker outline. I usually cut about 8-10 lines and then break the pieces out. Use a drywall saw to fine the edges. This is not for a beginner installer it’s very easy to make the plaster chip or over cut or break part of the ceiling along the edge of your cutout causing a bad eye sore if not properly repaired. On top of possibly hitting other electrical lines or joists in the ceiling. Approach this type of work with extreme caution

Rear and side speakers can get a better effect being above. Since if you have them close to ear level people in the middle seat might be obstructed

ive got a question: if i would like to add 4 inch bullet tweeters in a car audio could i install them directlly to the 4channel amp or would i need a crossover component like the ones from a speaker set?
@jackdurden466
@jackdurden466 Жыл бұрын
Hi, I’m a veteran car audio installer/fabricator myself, and anytime you have a speaker that you don’t want to play sounds that not only would sound awful, but also potentially damage the speakers themselves you absolutely need a crossover. The ones that he has on those are called “passive” crossovers. The other and better(I believe personally) are active crossovers and they are powered with your amplifier and have rca inputs that go from the amplifier to the crossover. They determine what frequencies go out of which amplifier and to which speakers. I hope that helps. If you ever get further into it you can actually learn to build your own passive crossover with some basic parts, but I’d say just go with a set of higher end like MB Quart, OZ Audio, etc. they’re easy to install and work fantastically! Best of luck!

Hi Mark, Unrelated to this video, but I have a question I hope you can answer. I have an audiocontrol Lc6i out to a kenwood X802-5 amp. When setting the gains, do I set the audiocontrol RCA output to match the input max of the amp which is 5v? On top of this, Do I still need to use ohms law to work out and set the correct voltage on my speaker inputs as well?

Sweet,bud, I'm a audiofile too, that means I also do home audio , nice set up Mark, but being a basshead, I have one twelve in the front , and two tens per channle in the rear, i found by running rear subs, you run into phasing issues, for a good blend, but regardless, hell yeah!!

Run em 180 out. I have 2 cabinets with 15"s, behind me on the floor with a 12" krk sub in between them, and 2 pairs of Klipsch dual 8" R-28F's in front. I switch my KRK 180 degrees out of phase, so the wav's dont cancel each other out. If that doesn't work for you, you could try hooking up a good DSP to fine tune the low freq's.

If it's not Active speakers with built in Amp then it's just speaker wires to a external Amplifier.

@@ryanstroeder7908 ahhh ha! Thank you but isn't the receiver wireless? I mean in a car I know no of course not but on a home entertainment system the receiver would be whatever is used to control the speakers. I'm still lost, God help me!
@northwiebesick7136
@northwiebesick7136 2 жыл бұрын
@@rockytoptech1308 those wires he ran in the wall go from the receiver to the speakers, and usually the receiver, if it's a good quality one, will have enough built-in amplifier power to work pretty well, although some setups might need more power than provided, in which case you would treat it like a car and add an amplifier in between the system and the speakers I reckon... Also, the wires on that type of setup would carry both signal, and power, which in that case would technically be the same thing, as opposed to a speaker with a built-in amplifier, which just moves the electronics into the speaker, as opposed to the audio receiver end... As to your question, yes, the prebuilt systems CAN be wireless, but he's talking about a permanent setup, which would be based on exactly the same principle as car audio, and as far as I know, any setup like what he's doing with in wall speakers, would have to be wired...
