When your home's hot water tank gives up the ghost, cut it open and look inside! Replace your sacrificial anode in there throughout its life. The Bunn has a primary heater to get the water up to temperature in a hurry. The one on the outside is low watt keep hot heater. I was looking for a video to show where to locate the thermistor. Thought maybe it could be swapped with another to tweak the temperature up a few degrees. Thanks to your video, that thought is right out of my head! 😄

Interesting disassembly! Bunn makes a quality coffeemaker that lasts for years of daily brewing! Bunn invented the fluted paper coffee filter back in the 50's. :) Thank you for sharing!!

This is the one I have now and is leaking from the holding tank. We seem to get about three years out of them. Regarding Bunn coffee makers being on all the time it's similar to baking in a oven. It cycles on/off to maintain a certain tank temperature. Also keep in mind hard water deposites are also almost a given with this type of coffee maker over time. I't basically a water heater without any anode rods and all water has minerals. I descale mine ever two-three months with vineger.

Thank you so very much for taking this apart and showing the intricate parts. I am looking to adjust my float on my 2020 Bunn Elite and all of the instructions speak for the older styles. :( I am doing this myself and don't want to mess it up. Still unsure on what the float looks like. (It's only filling my coffee pot 1/2 way full).

My wife and I don't use drip coffee makers, too hard to clean and keep clean. We have a 12 cup electric percolator , and a 28 cup stove top percolator. Both are very easy to clean, and they make great coffee.

I doubt the OXO would look like this. it has copper tubing that heats the water and not a big tank. but that is a good Idea to open up a older OXO coffee maker. Thanks for watching and the nice idea.

After running some vinegar through my pot that was given to me used, a little black sludge came out. I watched this video in hopes of learning how to open the water tank for cleaning. Thanks for the video...now I know that I can’t without destroying it. It’s too bad; it seems so unhygienic to not be able to clean. I suppose they don’t want people to burn themselves on the heating element.

Another solution to mitigate mineral deposit buildup is to use RO or distilled water instead of city tap water from day one....

@@JustADadthe bun instructions have us use a rod to push up in the drip area. Well I couldn't get mine to go all the way up in there, I tried again after cleaning it, and it did go all the way the 2nd time. but when you took yours apart and you showed all of the build-up I'm assuming that's why I couldn't get it to go through it first. Which I'm assuming it pushed all that build up right into my tank 😬 gross. And that's the reason why my coffee tastes like crap. Thanks to your video, now I know.

Typical coffee maker POS. It continually drips water into the funnel, resulting in brewed coffee dripping onto the burner. Sometimes it makes a meager amount of coffee. Most often, it takes 30-40 minutes to complete the brew, and still drips.
