One of my favorite suits KA has had made for himself. Love the fabric, love the roped sleeve heads, and to my taste, the lapels are much more appropriate than the lapels on his earlier double breasted suits--nothing sadder than a timid lapel a blazer in this style. Wonder if the silhouette would have been even better without any vents: the ventless cut of golden era double breasted suits is what gives them that beautiful "column" effect. Also surprised that you didn't go for the full double forward pleats to complete the look.

Divij out did himself on this one! Perfect evolution.

It would be really interesting and helpful to see Kirby do something on kilts and Highland wear. Whether Kirby gets his own wear or not, it would be entertaining and informative for those of us who do wear kilts and want to know more about Highland wear and high-end and quality options in this style of attire.

peak.lapels are a poor idea!
@ciaranoloan61992 жыл бұрын
I wasn’t commenting on the choice of lapel as the peak is the optimal choice for an everyday double-breasted suit. I was commenting on these particular lapels which appear perfectly proportioned and look fantastic on this suit. However in general I strongly disagree, I have three suits with peak lapels, two 3-piece suits with high waisted trousers, and a more modern styled single button 2-piece navy suit. They are all single breasted with peak lapels and I absolutely love them all.

Nice looking suit. I can see Kirby was going for an English look (from the choice of Fox Brothers cloth, to the cut) some of the details aren’t typical of the English cut though, on the trousers there is a single reverse pleat whereas a Savile Row suit would almost always have double forward pleats if pleats are selected (which they should be especially on such a suit). It is a lovely suit though.

I’m curious are you outside in the suit a lot to need a heavy fabric in a suit rather than just a coat when you’re outside? I wear short sleeves year round because if I’m inside I’m generally warm so I can’t get comfortable in a sweater and if I’m outside I just add layers but I wouldn’t keep those layers on inside for an extended period of time
@kirbyallison2 жыл бұрын
When I am in London or New York, which are the two coldest climates I spend time in, I'm outside quite a bit. When in Texas, no so much because Dallas this isn't really a walking city. However, even if I am inside, I normally keep my jacket on. All depends on how warm/cold the office is.

Haha. Indeed. Probably fewer than 10 days a year in dallas for which this suit would be appropriate. Luckily, it’ll receive great use in London and New York, though, to supplement its days in dallas.

The suit looks very good. I wonder if there is something one should do when receiving a suit packed like that in a box, thinking that the lapel might be crunched and ruining the sweep? Or anything else to be done before taking the suit out for a spin? (I'm quite new 😅)
