Looks like a refreshed and updated smaller version of the BB6 by Wilhelm Bubits. In fact many identical features matching his patents. Even the pin placements are the same, the magazine retention tab is the same. The rear locking lug is the same. Most of it is the same. You will also note zero gaps around the bottom of the slide. One of the greatest pistol designers of out times, so that bodes well for this Kimber. That ejection port is not "older", and it improves reliability rather than degrading it. Just try a BB6. Also note the location of the locking lug to see something unique to Bubits designs. You didn't point to the locking lug, the locking lug is at the top of the rear of the chamber. It tilts less aggressively, not more, and that was intentional. The traditional Browning design with the locking lug(s) at the front of the chamber results in greater tilt. Of all the micro 9 pistols, this is by far best designed IMHO from multiple aspects, most of which have to do with the exact features found in the BB6.

I bought the optic ready model for $530 glad I did . The crimson trace optic I purchased was the new CT rad micro which was zeroed in out of the box , bonus . The optic is a upgrade to the 1500 series. First time shooting the gun was amazingly accurate , some light primer strikes on ball Ammo ( Federal not Tula ) , ran fine with federal carry ammo micro 138 grain which was puzzling. Kimber wants me to send it in for service to evaluate the issue . I’m not ready to do that yet , I want to run some more rounds through it first . If this is a refreshed Bb6 by Bubits design it should be ok . Not worried at this point . K

Thank you for an honest assessment of the trigger on this gun. Every other reviewer raves about the trigger as one of the best among striker-fired guns. The only thing I can think is that they actually mean "better than a Glock trigger," because I have several striker-fired guns with much better triggers. Given those other reviews, I was very disappointed when I got one. The trigger isn't terrible, but it is definitely not "great". My impression matched yours almost exactly. The only difference is that I thought the take-up was little long as well. It's gritty; it stacks a bit, but the break is fairly crisp. The grittiness is bad though. During initial take-up, it almost feels like the whole fire control group shifting inside the frame. If you only let the trigger back out to reset for follow-up shots, you still get a tiny bit of gritty creep just before the break. But you're right; if they could get rid of that grittiness, this really would be one of the best, if not *the* best, triggers of the micro-compacts.

Nothing wrong with trigger imo! Ran 500 rounds at the range the day I bought. Trigger still smooth. Actually I think with over a 1000 round it’s getting better!

I wish I had enough bucks to buy all the micros. I've got the hellcat and the xl. Really wanting a max 9 and the gx4. The shield plus looks good but larger. Then the mako came out. I will have to refinance the house.

Wow. You say the trigger is gritty etc.etc. Well I just picked mine up and it's "not gritty at all" and it's better than my Sig p365 trigger. Shorter travel, shower reset and right at 5"'s It's one of the best triggers in its class. Better finish also. It's a winner.

The intro shows that this pistol must fit you very well as the gun shot a really nice group rapidly. As to the trigger it could probably use a deep cleaning followed by an application of Breakthrough Clean Technologies Battle Born Grease (Gun grease with teflon) cycled and dry fired (snap caps NOT AMMO) a few hundred times, wiped clean of any residual grease and properly oiled. The grease is impregnated with teflon. The teflon will imbed into the surface pored of the metal slicking everything up. I've seen this make a tremendous improvement in new guns. The only downside I see with this gun is that not only is it a little large for pocket carry but compared to a Sig P365 its also quite a bit heavier. 17.8 vs 22 oz. Still a very nice option though

I love your videos and reviews. I’m a new subscriber and I’m curious if you have a video where you read the triggers on these micro compact guns. I see that FN has entered the market with its Reflex that has an internal hammer. How do you think this would affect the trigger?

So strange that your trigger pressure is where it is at and another video showed the trigger pressure at closer to 5 pounds. I am not questioning either of you. I just winder why Kimber is all over the place on trigger pressure for this pistol?

If you buy it with the optic, do they give you the optic plate on the side or do you have to buy one separately?

I really wish I could find some good disassembly/assembly videos. It's a pretty popular gun, but I can't find any videos on assembly or how they function... but I won't ever buy a gun unless I already know precisely how it works. I'm just surprised I can't find any videos on it though. (...and they definitely do not function the same as most other semi-auto guns. That's fairly obvious by the breach face when you take the slide off).

@@iBlinkTVChannel Yeah, that would be nice. I normally don't buy guns if I don't know how they already work... but about to buy some just so I can make videos on ow they work for other people (just to make them available). A good example is the Beretta Pico. One of the simple guns out there... but there just aren't any disassembly videos out there (or gunsmithing/trigger job, upgrades or anything like that). It's a simple gun, but I'm not 100% certain how it works, because there are no good videos on it. Like, how does it not fire when dropped? As far as I can tell, there's no drop safety. I wish gun companies would make information like this available.

That CT optic is complete garbage, I opted for the Non optic unit so i could pick my own brand. The Grit on the trigger you describe is because the safety is not being depressed fully, I am actually going to be shooting with my middle finger as my trigger finger because i lost half of my index. I did try using my left hand index though and noticed in order to use my index i had to grip the gun lower than ideal position in order to get that finger where it needs to be. With my Right hand and half a index finger i found the my middle finger lands exactly where it needs to be without struggling to reach for the spot. I use whats left of my index finger to brace the gun under the slide release lock, It feels very secure in my hand holding it like that. The only thing i need to practice is getting my middle finger passed the trigger guard because of its extra length you have to bend your finger more to get it past the guard. I am sure i wont even notice it after it becomes second nature.

I own a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield Plus and Kimber Micro 9mm two-tone and both are great pistols. I carry the Kimber Micro more often because it's smaller and easier to conceal. I've ordered a Kimber R7 Mako and will probably pick it up in December. My Micro 9mm shoots everything I feed it I've put a few hundred rounds through it with Zero Problems.

This has to be the worst entry into the market. Kimber managed to make the only micro I can’t get a full pinky grip on with the extended magazine. It seems nearly every design choice was form over function which is typical of Kimber.
