Last year I was in a Psycheward and prescribe medication. I had no friends, my girlfriend broke up with me, I didn't have a job and I was nihlistic and suicidal. Fast forward to today... I wake up at 4:30 every morning and workout. I work for a nice restaurant and people tip me for being friendly which makes me feel appreciated. I like being acknowledged. I have friends at school and I've really improved my relationship with my mom and my dad. I'm not on any medications and I'm in community college where I've gotten all A's except for in my Philosophy class where I got a B and I'm going to transfer to UCLA next Spring as a Psychology major striving to become a Clinical Psychologist. I can't stress enough how big of an influence Jordan B Peterson has been on me. For the first time in my life I believe I'm going to be something. I'm forever indebted.

Oh man, I almost have the same story as you. I also got confined in a psych ward way back on 2015. Lots of ups and downs, insanely difficult challenges plus a very traumatic childhood to heal from and overcome. Now I work as a martial arts and fitness instructor, things in my life are coming into place, i'm at a very good situation right now. Although there are still a lot of uncertainties and a lot of challenges and lessons to be learned, I'm very optimistic and I believe that if I take it one day at a time, small incremental steps, to be better 1% everyday, I know I'll be alright. Jordan Peterson has been a big influence and inspiration for me too. Keep going my friend, life's tough but we got this!

I come from a broken family. My father beat me when I was growning up. I moved out on my own at 19. I was married and divorced by 24. After the divorce I drank and took a lot of drugs for about 5 years. By 30 I was close to homeless. I got tired of living like that, and I began to work to turn my life around. My life slowly got better, and I continued to strive to improve. With the help of God and many good people around me I can now say I have lived a good life. I am now 66 and retired. I have a loving wife and two grown sons who I love and am proud of. I had a successful career. I am at peace. I want to tell you, you might be in a really bad place right now, but you can take steps to make it better. Listen to people like Jordan Peterson, you can trust what he says. Find friends who encourage you to do better, not ones who tear you down. Over time your life can improve, I am living proof. Never give up. Where there is life, there is hope.

Wow! This is hard-core. Just one story is me being told I couldn’t write; failing in an English class, and walking away with doubt and moving forward. Leaving that class, without changing my style, I have a ince been published four times, and two of the books are internationally known. I was approached last night to write another piece. Never let anyone tell you you’re aren’t enough! Anyone else’s idea of perfection should never be yours. You are already perfect just as you are, even as you may have work to do, may need to grow. Never let anyone tell you, you are not enough!!

I see one barrier to change and personal growth is ambivalence. Not caring enough about yourself to meet the challenge of looking at yourself and things that don't work with you. This is a factor in Existential Isolation.Existential Isolation is the belief no one understands us at our core. Trapped in this form of loneliness we eventually begin to believe we don't deserve to change because our self-regard has been damaged. We begin to believe we are not entitled to self-worth or growth and choose to stay the way we are. We should all know that no one on the planet truly understands any other individual at their core, even people with very strong bonds to one another. In yet this fact can be scary for people to accept. We can still have a positive form of nihilism in saying to ourselves "No one needs to truly understand me but me"

The part about the writing student whom thought her lack of writing fundamentals was her "own style" and unwilling to hear what it would take for her to be able to write. To me it made so much sense that to be great you must be humble and capable and master the skills in the area you want to change the way it is done. For as an artist, if the artist has mastered the rules and fundamentals first then when they change how they express they are given the privilege due to the mastery they truly achieved first.

He sure can help me out when I look for knowledge that helps me untangle my mind. For those whom listen and can’t quite follow, for use of a better word. I purchased some books a couple years ago and it was not helping cause I just couldn’t ‘follow’ what was being said. Got those books out recently, and some of the most helpful words of wisdom and inspiration I’ve read. Maybe I just hadn’t lived enough yet, if that makes sense. From all authors and many years of reads, JP is at the top , he is a emotional , rational, gets it , kind of person. He has a lot of his own life to share and loves to give the truth to those whom have not traveled much through life yet. Smart guy.

What I find remarkable is his unceasing faculty to articulate without breach of thought. Extremely eloquent and logical. Yes, thank God for his presence in the world, and welcome back JBP.

Thanks Mr Peterson for this! “Don’t stand in the same place” Im 26 feeling alone but with God. Haven’t finished a degree and feel un purposeful at times. Feeling I’m never good enough for my dad even though he means well most of the times and knowingly his dad, my grandfather, was a drunk. Understand that part. Feel I have so much inside me, bullied my junior high and high school at a private school mainly because I was poor and never knew much even how to stand up for myself. Even at my church a lot of things. Hate self pitying myself!! Feel hopeless and depressed many times, Feel like so many things have happened tome but so have to other people out there. thank you for sharing this Making me keep going on! Thank you sir! Feel

I love these - they are the conversations that mothers and fathers should be having with their children to help them develop into better human beings. I need to step up my game now before I let my kids down... Lord knows the world around us is not going to teach them these values.
