We are always asked in the comments, and it is about time I stop sitting on the fence. If you HAD TO CHOOSE... Would it be LOOK Cycles or TIME Cycles.

I don't think there is any contest, the better made bike is the Time. The way the bike is made is fundamentally different, manufacturing tolerances are better. People might say I'm biased because I'm an OE supplier to Time but their other OE supplier is NTN who make the headsets, as far as I am aware, it's the only biike that uses NTN bearings in the headset. The BB, Frame, Headset combination are no accident - the parties involved are not going to be associated with poor manufacturing quality.

Very interesting comparison, your arguments are reasonable and sound. Most of us can only buy one bike at time; I choose the Time ADH21 and I can confirm, it's stiff, yet it rides quiet and smooth, especially uphill or on rough surfaces. That's an important point for me, because it helps to be able to ride longer. I like the approach of Look as well, but I'm really happy with my Time, which I think is also fantastic value for money (compared to several other high end brands). You have a great bike shop and I think Your choice of brands makes every customer like Buridan's donkey.

The cobalt blue or forest green with carbon weave on the ADHX are stunning. I only wish they would offer a more endurance oriented geometry. Some of the angles are a bit different between the ADH and ADHX, but things like stack and reach are nearly identical and very race oriented.

@@Mapdecthat is the end of Time then, in my humble opinion. What made Time frames great was the fact that the production was lower compared to bigger names, allowing better QC for instance. Needless to say that the actual quality of Time got lowered when it moved from France to Slovakia. Once being manufactured in the US, I'm afraid it'll get even lower, before being moved to Asia to match the demand... Anyway, @Mapdec great vids as usual :)

It's pretty rare to see a Time in the Sunday chain gang here in Toulouse area. The Sunday randonnée is a social thing. Still you're right some have a time and it's a pride and joy and they're bike for a lifetime. Look are also not around I think price is an issue. They've not got the collector caché of a Time but are more expensive than the big brand bikes. We've got your specialized, trek, giant main dealers I guess mopping up a big percent of sales. I'm still riding a Focus with calipers and a Cinelli gravel bike. I'd go for the Look sometimes a few discounted ones can be had at the local online dealer in their warehouse shop...which is 20 mins from home😊

The way they build their bikes is more timeless, you would never be bored of your Time I think. @@Chayeazy I have the ADHX with two wheelsets so I can easily swap from road to gravel. The fast gravel kids are definitely trending toward 45mm++ primarily for screaming fast descents. I run specialized pathfinder pros 38mm, and for me personally it’s more than enough, at lower pressure/tubeless, to feel fast and safe on descents on the typical gravel here in Oregon. Thing is, I put more miles on roads than gravel, and the ADHX, with road tires, roadie cockpit (aero drop bars) and aggressive geometry (for me) it’s also the road bike I’ve always wanted - stiff, climby, fast, comfortable on very long rides. I also have a pivot LES for sloppier gravel and bigger adventures, so between those two bikes I have everything covered. The wider and (I think) slightly slacker profile of the ADHX45 would feel less of a fast aggressive roadie, but I’d love one if I could afford a single-purpose gravel racing bike in my quiver. I guess what I’m sayin’ is… I want ten primo bikes, but the ADHX and my Pivot check all the boxes for the riding that I do. 😁

Funny, I would have made the opposite choice of "artisan" and "engineer". LOOK have always been more 'engineered' to me, with the amount of system integration, pushing the envelope on what they can eke out of each section of the frame, innovating in aero, designing frames as semi-complete modules before any major brands were doing so. TIME are the artisans - the amount of hand labour involved, tying off individual 'sock' plies by hand, wax mandrels, the traditional approach to geometry, dedication to what they know will work, making improvements when something is obviously better but not changing only for the sake of change. TIME are far and away the most 'spirited' feeling carbon bikes I've ever ridden. They don't try to win on grams, but they ride light, while remaining inexplicably comfortable. And as you showed, they feel strong and unyielding in the hand but that somehow translates to a planted feeling on the road. It also inspires confidence - you don't feel like you're floating on top of this fragile wafer-thin monocoque. Riding on eggshells, as it were. It's as close to the confidence you get from a good steel frame as I've felt in any material, but with the light weight and snappiness of carbon.

What is the one manufacturer that absolutely ensures customer certainty in build quality, post sale support and value for dollar? You want to buy a terrific all around road bike and you want zero concerns, what are you buying, knowing the most expensive doesn’t mean much today. For example, if all I need is a bottom bracket, I know Hambini is 2nd to none.

Having ridden a lot of exotic brands over the last 20 years, I don't think I'll be buying another make after Time. The '23 ADH Disc is without a doubt my favourite bike. Nearest carbon bike that has come close in joy to ride is my old (now sadly broken) Colnago EPS. Comparing more modern carbon like my Cervelo R5, the time has better ride quality, equivalent stiffness and is a few hundred grams heavier. The Time is much better made; everything just fits together perfectly. The Cervelo less so. The Cervelo was probably faster, but I didn't look forward to riding it like I do the Time. If / when they issue a modern update on the Scylon that might be the last bike I ever buy!

I’m not really a fan of the name Time for a bike brand. I don’t get it. I’d prefer the Look badge on my frame. I have a Look 586sl and that’s about the best I’ll likely be able to go with a look alas.

We don’t really sell bikes. We have always done custom builds from many brands, Basso, Cinelli, BMC, QR, Argon 18 etc. Just in recent months we have become known for Look and Time. We don’t hold stock though. Everything is just built and bought to order.

In this context artisan is rather Festka. These are rather different approaches of engineering. Also reminding everyone RTM is used by 3T. So it's not that much about process, but its application.
@garybird8646

Some are using RTM but with a polystyrene mandril that is then melted out, not very environmentally friendly and how do we know all the waste material is removed. Time use a wax mandril, so better for the environment

@@garybird8646 this difference you are talking about is unfortunately pure greenwashing. 3T is not even close to TIME technology, they have different appoarch and technology, TIME as the only one with Braided Carbon Structure , the weaving of dry fibers into complex bi-directional patterns. with 30 years of experience, experiments, and test they have no competion from main stream brands. And.. Lifetime waranty : )

@@MrSzwarz what part of Resin Transfer Molding is about weave, huh? As said, it's not just one aspect. And to be honest, their pattern is not that complex even compared to some shoes, let alone any carbon sheet layup. Hence the greater weight, by the way: the repeated pattern adds fibers where those are not necessary because the spot is some distance away from where they are required.

Of all the reviews on Look, including this one - they never seem to cover the post purchase maintenance complexities derived from Looks bespoke components and design . I owned a 695 SR with the ZED crank. A bike so insanely stiff and reactionary. All was great until I wanted to replace bearings / chainrings at my local bike shop. That's where it died for me. No LBS is going to spend $400 on a bespoke Look bearing removing tool used 2-3 times year. And then try find the bespoke chainring bolts to match. Incredible bike, but not practical unless you''re on the Cofidis team.
