It's rough racing these days when your budget needs to be at least 20k and everything is all four stroke but you've done a great explaining what went wrong along the way.

When we lost the 2-stroke bikes to race, we also lost a lot of skills on the track. The 2-strokes made us push our skills. Now everything is easy, all the way down to elec start. We are raising soft kids.

I got into this sport starting in 1976, and buying my own bikes making $1.00/hr part time starting as a 12 year old kid. The 1986 production rule, (the FIM stopping factory development in the USA because we won the MXofN 5 times in a row by then), and the EPA forcing the 4-stroke (now electric) on the industry by force, has driven up the cost of a bike to the levels of the well to do,--and market share is less than 1/10th of what it used to be. I appreciate the riders efforts pretty much only(and after market companies), but I really don't like the sport anymore,-------------------because it was stolen from us. Only bike sales can make the sport grow. Fans with football jerseys only buying a ticket,--do not expand the sport. You have to ride, (spend money in the industry, or grow a business in it), for the sport to grow. It won't. Yes,--you can blame our politics today, as everything a more free people built has been pretty much taken over. I feel so sorry for the younger generation. They don't know the difference, and they don't listen. Doug in Michigan

He is another guy with a microphone and a YT channel, making up reality the best he can. The problem with making up reality or ignoring it, (and there is only one reality, and up to us to discover), is when you ignore or make up reality,----reality has a way of kicking our butts.

Actually, a guy named Steve Bruhn who ran a site called "Moto News" was the first guy I ever saw start talking about the motocross cartel. He called the Coombs family "The Octopus." He died about 10 years ago, or so, but had he lived he would have blown the top off of it. He was just getting going on them.

It is not that there is no place to pass. It is because the tracks are designed to keep everybody the same speed as much as possible (especially SX). We have the top 10 guys splitting 1 or 2 seconds between them all, and they don't make many mistakes on the "good for the all" tracks. So after a few laps, they get sorted out, and for the last 10 laps, with 2 seconds of more between them, we end up usually seeing a fast parade,---and it is very boring unless we are just entertained by the pretty colors jumping up and down as new fans seem to be. The FIM did this to our tracks.

Working for our communist state today, or their unions, does pay well. But if you want to use your own brain in what is left of our free enterprise, you will most likely struggle, (as I have with 2 engineering degrees). communism pays well today (as it is stolen almost all of our free enterprise from the thinking citizenry),---and you will retire in it full blown---broke also. communism is dysfunctional son. You will remember my post 20 years from now.

Ryan Hughes and the host know what they are talking about, and they are in line with what Cooksey has been saying for the last year now. It's a cartel running the sport. A very specific group of people. A tribe, if you will.

If you want to crash less (even pro's), get Paul Thede's "suspension bible" book from his company "Race tech", and read all about front end rake and trail. Read it enough so you understand every word, and you will crash less. That includes Jett.

Most traditional sports don’t need $ 15,000 in equipment that YOU have to provide for yourself. And that’s before you even get going. People with money have an advantage over the average person when it comes to any motor sport. Not saying money buys wins but it sureeeee helps. I had no money for racing as a kid. Now as an adult I have some money but no time. Do the best you can with what you have. It’s just a sad reality of the sport.

The sport in the USA did not start out that way. I bought 3 new bikes making $1.00/hr starting in 1976 as a 12 year old child, 1 every 2 years. I never paid over a grand for a dirt bike, (1 was a used 1982 YZ250 in 1984), until the 1986 production rule. That and especially the EPA "forcing" the 4-stroke on the industry are the biggest factors by far, that put the dirt bike out of reach of the masses. We don't learn this in our messes up schools today, but that is the difference between real free enterprise, and a dictatorship telling us what to make and buy.

@@EarthSurferUSA you can still by 2 stroked. 4 stroke are just better period. And 15K isn’t the cost of just the bike. Good gear can set you back a grand easy. Ktm 2strokes Will run you over 10 grand all day. It’s not politics. Go elsewhere with that nonsense thanks

I can't stand the modern bike set up, especially the high handlebars and level levers. Good thing the tracks are not full of bumps today, because even Pros are exiting corners with their throttle side elbow at their waist. I could not feel the entrance of the corners with the high bars, and the steering feels jittery. I will stick with "old school" (80's Gary Bailey for example)because it was based on reason, and we did not all "sheep" into a freestyle handlebar set up.

Honestly Rhino,if they dont take the shit out of tracks, that Jett does every lap, then no one has a chance against Jett. And when Jett is racing healthy, not like after KTM started sniveling when they had that bump that Jett was using as a jump removed and Jett still tried it and got hurt, his bad,but fudge man leave the tracks alone like in your era. Like i was saying these riders are pushing to hard to keep pace with wonder boy and are losing time by riding over there head thats why Rogers punk butt is sniveling for his sniveling rider Chase that is mentally beat from the young Australian. With all that said is why are they changing tracks after qualifying. They are set up for outdoor nationals but there getting changed because of one rider can do it."Ridiculous"

They took whoops out of a couple muddy sx races after Jett and Hunter crashed. Goes both ways, but agree don’t touch anything, leave the tracks alone.

@DualEnduro Mudders don't count I understand that reasoning. That's just a luck fest that I will never go see again. Watching pros do 20mph in misery. I get it we can't control weather but they can control teams saying, ride the track we built.

Make the tracks easier so everybody can get a trophy? I raced Red Bud when it was clay. Scared the heck out of me in my prime. Today, at 60, I can have fun on the national vet tracks. I can't wait until the bikes and tracks are so easy to ride (like stilling in a lazy-boy recliner chair), that everybody will be bragging about how much talent they have. Heeeeerrrr--is your trophy. Did you earn it?
