The 35mm f/2 was my first Fuji lens because it was the one in stock. I enjoyed it but it felt a bit tight. I ended up getting the 23mm f/2 and it felt right. That is part of the reason why I enjoy the x100vI so much. I recently bought the 27mm f/2.8 pancake and enjoying that on my x-pro3. But my favorite x-mount lenses are the Viltrox 75mm and 27mm f/1.2 lenses. Bulkiness is the only con. Thank you for the video Omar and for sharing your family’s memories with us.

Hi Omar, I love your shot of the man walking past the Blondie mural! Also love the self portrait on your bike :). Enjoyed the photos overall. I have never owned the 23mm. I have always preferred 28mm for all my street shots except the less frequent portrait. I sold all my Fuji gear apart from the X-E2 which I find magical. I kept my 35mm and 27mm only. I think the 35 is superior! I've been through a plethora of Fujifilm bodies but wish I had kept my X-T20. When I first got it I started watching your channel! That was back in 2018. How time flies...

Great to see the comparison between the two, and also to show us mere mortals that not every photo is great. I find myself preferring a 50mm equivalent focal length as find it easier/more natural to cut some things out rather than try and get everything in. But that’s just me. On a recent trip go Stockholm though I only took a standard f2.8 zoom. I set it to 50mm as default, but it was nice being able to back up or close in a bit if needed.

I loved my Fuji 23mm f2 and 35mm f2 lenses but have since sold them for the Voigtlander 23mm f1.2 and 35mm f1.2. Fully manual, dreamy glow at f1.2 to f2 close up again but from f2.8 sharp and contrasty. It’s a hackneyed phrase but they are very filmic too. They just feel right on my Fuji XT5.

So few youtubers show the pictures they've taken they _don't_ like; I think this is so valuable as it helps with developing as a photographer. Seems like too many people keep hold of too many pictures. I keep thinking about going back to fuji as an ex pro1 shooter, but just not enthused by their later cameras.

One time I went out doing street photography using a full frame and an 85mm. True story. But honestly the APS-C and 23mm is my weapon of choice. When I’m out wandering like that in “tourist” or street shooting mode, I just carry the X-T2 with the 35mm f/1.4 and the X70 (18mm f/2.8); then i just use whichever better captures my intent for the scene in front of me. That X70 barely weighs more than another lens and slips into side pocket on a small bag. Too bad it was never upgraded with a better battery but it still produces great photos and is super easy to carry. I prefer the 35 on APS-C and so, like you, most of my shots are at that focal length but it’s nice to have the other option.

I liked this kind of comparison, especially with so many examples. I shoot a lot with my X-T3 and the xf 35mm f2, but when I want to "slow down" I put on the TTArtisan 25mm f2 manual focus. @philipcooper8297Ай бұрын
I tried both, ended up keeping xf 30mm f/2.8 instead. Sure it's slower, but 30mm is just somewhat different in a good way + the focus starts are roughly 1cm from the front element, so get as close as you want. It does alright macro as well, but only on static objects as you really have to get close to get any respectable results.

I’m just starting out. Would the XF 18-55 kit lens be able to achieve both sets of photos?
@patrick629413 күн бұрын
It's more the skills, that make a good photo, not the lens. Although I love the 35f2 and hate using zooms, the 18-55 is a really good lens and perfect for starting out. Some tips: Set it to a specific focal length to shoot it like prime (e.g. 18, 23, 35, 50) to get a feeling for the characteristics of the different focal lengths. If you want background separation shoot it at 55 and/or get close.

IDK I've always like the 23-24mm focal range on APSC, particularly if I'm doing street shooting. If I"m doing portraits, then the 35 works great because you get that 52mm equivalent field of view which I prefer for portraits. So for me, it would depend on what I'm doing, and ideally I'd own both (or at least some version of a 23-24mm and some version of a 35mm... maybe the cheaper 35mm f/2 XC lens which is still very good but very cheap like $200, just so I'm not going broke buying Fuji gear).
@bingbong4848Ай бұрын
