Looking at more Focus MK1 adverts!

Another blog in the world that is MK1 Focuses... this time some adverts have recently caught my eye, I go through them to see what you need to look out for and to share my viewpoint.

The blue 2 litre car in your first ad looks beautiful, however I have both an 04 1.6 ghia hatchback and an 04 2 litre estate. The 2 litre is a bit quicker, no doubt about it, but you can feel the weight of that iron block engine in heavier steering, not the feather light touch of the 1.6, with its all aluminium engine. Also, I find the throttle pedal to be that much higher on the 2 litre to the extent of being uncomfortable on a long drive. I actually much prefer the 1.6.

That's interesting about the pedal, tbh the steering in most mk1s is heavier than most cars, even my 1.6 feels more weighty but still pretty reasonable so I can imagine the extra weight affecting the steering feel!

Hiya mate, hope you're well, the silver st170 I'm pretty sure it's called stardust silver but could be wrong, my favourite colour in those anyway. Im still doing a few jobs on my early automatic, when I'm brave enough to face the freezing weather! Good helpful videos as usual 👍

I take any mk1 focus regardless of the steering wheel. As a 05 mk1 owner with the big badge steering wheel, you do get used to it. The earlier wheel I grant you does look better but as I said the bigger badge for me wasn't a deal breaker. Still love mine. I always prefer unmodified cars in general. Just my preference but if done well,I can appreciate modified examples. Great video again.

I'm just so used to the earlier one! Yeah that's my stance as well on modifications, I most prefer subtle ones that can be reversed easily.

the 2 st170s the silver one looks like either a st 2 or 3 spec as it got climate headlight wash and xenons?? so thats gonna be a cheap car traction control light prob on due to be dirty and needs cleaning sensors can't understand why it ain't got headlight ajustment though plus it a 05 plate the grey one i would say its worth not far from what they want for it it looks like the seller has had a decent valet on it also

the grey one - the photos are very professional and thats makes a sale in itself! It is standard to have xenons and headlight washers - its a requirement by law I believe!

I recently got a mk1 focus, it's an '03 1.6 Zetec estate, pretty decent, although I can sometimes hear like, water running basically at seemingly random times for a couple of seconds. What could that be? Is it something I should be worried about?

That is an airlock stuck around your heater matrix, these engines are very good at self-bleeding but it can happen around the heater. Get it to temperature, open the bonnet and squeeze both hoses going down the back of the engine into the heater matrix! The coolant level should go down and you won't hear that sound again, your heater will be more efficient too!

Mine did that too. But only when I'd turn the car off whilst the AC was running. Sounded like a couple of seconds of bubbling water coming from behind the dashboard. I figured it was just the pressure in the AC system equalizing. It never caused any issue.

11:13 That is exactly my car but RHD (and mine came with the casette deck). Colour, rims, trim, petty issues and everything :p I'm more of a fan of the later facelifted models. Never liked the saloon/estate versions. The hatchback just has the nicest behind of the three :)

Probably the most common colour but in reason it suits the mk1 very well!
