Just had a look at two of the more popular car sales sites here in Ireland and there are 17 Mk1 Focus for sale between the two. Mainly saloons, two estates, one three door hatch, a few 5 doors and one Rs. Ranging from €500 to €35,000 for the Rs.

@10:55 Worth more to you. That's what a bargain is about. 👍 @13:36 Off course not, not considering the running costs, either.

The focus seems a reasonable car, I have driven my neighbours Mk1 but its so basic compared to my 2002 Mk3 Mondeo V6 Ghia X!

@@usuallyfixingtinkering Yeah, it has quite a lot in it, cruise control is great on long drives but my absolute favourite thing about it other than being a V6 is the electric sunroof, I cannot live without a sunroof! The Focus ST170 would give mine a run for its money being a bit quicker to 60 (0.4s) than my Mondy but I would get it on the open road and always lead after that :)

I don't use Facebook wat so ever I would have a MK1 focus not bothered about welding but I would not mind a estate petrol but a low mileage my old 2003 and 4 door but was high mileage and did have to do welding around the rear inner wheel arches and sills and had for years engine went and scrapped it but they are still cheap to buy still then

Maybe a thought for discussion in a future video is the increasing use of AI in advert descriptions. I’ve seen quite a few now where AI has been used to write the whole advert and it’s really frustrating as a potential buyer. For example, I was looking at an advert for a tatty, 90s car and apparently it had a “vibrant red exterior”, is a “great find for anyone looking for a reliable and stylish vehicle” and is also a “must-have for anyone who wants a high quality car”. I think this is really lazy and makes for a poor advert, surely we want to hear in the seller’s own words what the car is actually like, good or bad?

I've seen this creep in, which sums up cars on Facebook marketplace, a car I couldn't be bothered in selling let alone looking after!

I used to have a 2004 Focus 1.6 Edge in tonic blue but in 3dr form like the one in the thumbnail, was a great little car, it was the one featured on Jayemm on cars utube video as well. Sold it locally and was offered it back but had no space to keep it. Sold it for a Mk2.5 Focus but I still am a fan of the Mk1, values deserve to be more than they are but maybe in time like the standard Sierras and Escorts have climbed.

I am so surprised you moved that car on! I am a big fan of the MK2.5, especially something like a Zetec S, which will become more desirable soon!

@@usuallyfixingtinkering I needed a 5dr but there weren’t any decent MK1s at the time so moved onto the 2.5 which is great, but misses the Mk1s charm and personality.

Interesting pieces under £1000. "Cheap" if you have time, tools, place and mood to check, maitaine and restore all the components, systems for yourself (exhaust, suspension, bodywork, engine, AC, brakes etc.) If you don't have these skills, a cheap car can become a pretty expensive one, after shop bills.

spot on, cheap at the point of purchase. Then it becomes like russian roulette, or at least it feels like it!

Interestingly I did check what is low end price in my country. Well for 300Eur you can get non-starters, badly rusting ones but mostly with MOT. For 600 Running without big drive defects but rusty... Good ones starting from 1000Eur..
@usuallyfixingtinkering

That's pretty spot on, my thoughts are now this. Those which are tired with problems remain cheap. While the tidier low mileage ones continue to slowly climb

It is a cheap car to go around the block. Some people see a piece of history but most don’t.

But it isn't a "cheap" car now, it was a few years back. They all now have a growing list of problems from bodywork to suspension. All expensive.

@@usuallyfixingtinkering That’s the price to pay to restore it. And in my opinion, the body has to be perfect to start with.

@@benjilafouine Yes and no, from what owners tell me the MoT day generally ends up being a £300-400 affair on average. That's just to keep them on the road so not cheap.
