Yellow RV is a no go.
2nd rv is 1988 Toyota Odyssey 41'034 miles. About 85% good to go. Will definitely need a little TLC.
Engine is an R-22-E and looks great.
2 owners. Most recent owner used it once a year.
Tires look great.

I've been told that the four cylinder is more reliable than the six. However, the four has a hard time powering the weight of the camper. The water leaks can be a real nightmare and you want to take a look at the roof to see how bad it is. Obviously needs work to stop the leaks and you need to do that work first or you're throwing your money away. I just bought a 1993 Ford E250 self build class B and although it's in very good condition, I'm dealing with new shocks and a sway bar to make it more stable on the road. You will want to drive it on some back roads before you agree to buy it. I agree with others that you don't want to give the dealer your money as a down payment and then make payments. Too easy to drive up one day and find the camper and the business gone and you have nothing. Get a loan or wait till you have enough saved. Good luck!

A tip from my Toyota motorhome shopping experience in California: Take your time, do your homework, and look at a lot of them until you find the perfect one. There are some real gems out there, and some really trashed ones. The gems tend to sell within a couple days of going on sale.

On the second one...water damage on the ceiling is a problem. You would have to peel the shell off to see if the structural integrity of the framing underneath is okay. My uncle had to rebuild the frame of a friend's airstream. It was expensive. to reframe and reshell the back end. Take your time. Don't let enthusiasm drive you.

Dee McCaig-Awais @14:03 you can see water damage on the wall next to the oven. If the roof has been leaking, as it appears to have been, then there will be dry rot on the house frame and serious mold problems. That's a common problem with older RVs. It might have to be gutted and rebuilt.

Hi Christopher! I've been hearing from other RVers to stay away from anything with water damage. That it can be a bigger problem than what it seems... hidden damage and mold.

My first RV was a 1995 class A that I LOVED the interior of. Driving it, not so much. My two best experiences with it were the day I bought it and the day I got rid of it for half of what I paid I urge caution with this purchase No need to rush, it looks like the vehicle has been sitting there for awhile.

I hate to be a negative Nancy but omg...RUN!! $4K for that? I would say $1500.00 tops!! It's been almost gutted...notice the rear sides have been put back together? Yes..look closely..The rear corners have metal holding them to the rear wall...Also, the axles on those were under rated and broke unless upgraded to the 1 ton larger . There are many better choices out there for $4K...I have bought and sold RVS and cars for the past 20 years...when an interior is painted and altered like that it makes it worth MUCH LESS!! Just because Toyota makes great cars does not mean that little engine will like pulling that heavy box around with it!!!No offense but please bring someone with you that knows mechanics!!! You built a very nice home made trailer though btw I must say...

Sooo excited for you! I like the 2nd one! Remember you need to check the tires. I think CamperVan Kevin said tires can only be 4 yrs old on RV's or you can get blowouts. Email him and ask him to take a look at your video. He knows sooooo much about mechanics, etc. Gotta stay safe. This is an exciting video for sure! I always get excited when I get a notice you put up a video!

I have a Toyota Mini Cruiser RV, it was $4000.00 several years ago, and is in far better condition than the ones you are looking at. Also, I contacted Toyota, they were able to tell me that the RV was made after the axle recall. In hindsight I would look for one with a V6 engine, 4 cylinders isn't much power unless you do not mind going at a snail's pace. It is the right size for myself and dog, but as far as sleeping four people it would be a very tight squeeze, and the shower is made for a midget, literally. I had the roof redone on mine, and made new curtains and recovered the seats except for driver's and passenger. It has carpeting and I would prefer wooden flooring. I have a canvass set of drawers which goes over the cab and can be used outside. I sleep on the couch instead. It does not come with an in-house generator, but I bought a Champion 2000 watt. I also have a Goal Zero which is all one really needs for a weekend trip, it can be charged by plugging into an outlet at home, or by using the portable solar panels I have. I have seen a Mini Cruiser owned by someone in Alaska and he installed a small woodstove, which I think is a great idea. I also bought new tires, $1000.00 for six at Discount Tire, a bit of a chunk of change, but well worth doing for safety and a better ride. The front wheels are a bit stiff to turn, and I would like a back-up camera. There is a club on the Internet for Toyota Mini Cruiser RV owners, I guess they have quite a following. I also put two metal boxes on the rear luggage carrier, I use them for extra fuel and other things such as propane cans.

I have no doubt that whatever you decide, your creativeness will kick in and it will be as cute as Frankie before long. Take your time and dont jump into anything. This will be your home so really like the floor plan along with the solid mechanics. When i got mine it had a leaky bunk. All better now and a yearly seal on the roof will keep it healthy. How much TLC do you actually want to do? Will you fix it and flip it or keep it for the long haul? Good luck with the hunting. That's part of the fun.

How fun, shopping for RVs. It's good that you are making sure there's no water damage. That was my biggest concern when we were shopping for an RV. We were actually all set to buy one and at the last minute I checked it and found water damage. That's a much earlier video so you probably didn't see it. They still wanted us to buy it but we left and didn't go back there. The floor was soft. Plus there was rust on the outside. Best of luck with your shopping :)

The Toyota motorhomes are cult vehicles. Owners tend to love them, and they are generally one of the cheapest motorhomes to actually drive due to their reliable Toyota front end. I have a 91 Dolphin up in SF and my father also has a 91 Dolphin out East. They get 12 to 15 REAL miles per gallon. The best place to go to for info is toyotamotorhome.org/forums where you will find detailed info on everything imaginable as well as many helpful owners. Also check out the KZbin channel Wandering Patches for a couple that lives in theirs full time.

In Illinois and have a 86 clipper cormorant, body has 101000 , motor has 50000 its a aft rebuilt w/ paperwork, auto trans rebuilt w/ 20000 , receipts for a lot of stuff and a box of new parts like starter , alternator, fuel filter and pump. The interior was gutted and all propane stuff removed. Has new 700 watt solar panels, 2 -200 ah agm batteries, shower and sink w/ 9 gal water tank w/ 12 volt element, 6 gal waste tank, camping toilet never used, has dometic frig or freezer the smallest one. The 22 r or re motors are great and while a ticking sounding motor they run forever and the only down fall was the timing chain guides that fail usually after 160000 miles depending on how they are driven and maintained. It's 6000 firm.

It looks good but there is a lot of work to do. Your two front tires we need to be replaced immediately and you need to check the date on the rest of them. The toilet looks like the black tank needs to be emptied. After you clean the roof and put a sealant on it you are going to need a lot of dicor for around the windows, vents and A/C unit (also make sure the AC works). And you realize you have to scrub the rust off or down to bare metal then put your Rust-Oleum on. They would have to clean it out so you can see everything that needs to be done so you can make an informed decision. It is your money and your decision... so be careful and be $$ wise. Have you test driven it yet? It's all up to you Kristofer. It's your decision and yours alone. I think it has a lot of potential however the price needs to be lowered because of all you need to do. We're concerned about your safety on the road, which is why we've pointed out so many faults. We've had seen what you've done with Frankie and know if you put your mind to it you can do it 😉

My impressions of the second RV are that the engine looks good 😃, the frame is OK, but needs painting. My main concern is that the water leakage might have caused structural damage by rotting the the wood. 😱 Tyres look old, so check the age or budget for new tyres. 🤐 Offer 3800, although 4000 seems a fair price considering the low mileage. 😎

Didn't see anything on the Odyssey that was glaring other than the ceiling. Check the dates on the tires. It does need a good cleaning out of course but it seems like most used campers do so no issues there. I think you have the skills to replace anything in the interior that needs redone. If it runs good, and be sure to take it out on the highway, it looks like an awesome project. Where did you find the listing at? If you haven't looked here, then this is a great resource to compare prices and conditions of Toyota RV's: toyotarvforsale.com/ I've looked at them before and I really do like the different variations of the Toyotas. I know you are excited and understand the love of a Toyota but she definitely has had water damage. They, always make it,sound like what you are interested in has been taken care of. Please really look it over inside and out plus I think $4, is way too much. Does it run? have you heard it run? Why is it under cover? what are they hiding? I know from experience once you start pulling things out to replace you replace more. I know you can but I don't know if it will be worth it. Best of luck sweetie, ultimately it is your decision.

Kristofer Travels sorry I jumped the gun before watching the rest of your video's plus just to let you know if a person has a leak no matter how long before you use the rv again you will notice even by the smell I know you said that the rv smelled good but that can be masked I don't think she was being very honest. I have a leak and can not locate it as of yet but know it is there because water travels and it is causing damage. Everytime I think I have found it, fix it, then dang I'm about to lose control. Luckily I can store my RV in families garage over winter but as soon as it warms up I need to bring it back out and start all over again. I recently renovated and have this one leak that is haunting me. The RV dealers are all out to make profit very few really care. Try to buy privately. I am really excited to see your future RV and what you do to make it yours!

They are high MPG motorhomes, not speed machines. I just follow the semis up the really steep grades at 45MPH and it will do that all day. Most of the time I drive mine at 55 to 65...but it can zip along at 70 if necessary on flat grades. I have the 6 cyl, but my father owned the 4 cylinder. He does prefer the 6, but he pulled a tow car (not recommended!) behind his 4 all the way across the country...so they are very strong engines. You just can’t compare their power against a massive Ford or Chevy front end of a similar year; because they get half the MPG. Both engines are very reliable, but the 4 is a bit more reliable than the 6. The 2.2 4cyl is a pretty legendary engine for reliability.

This model of motor homes are severely overloaded right from the factory. The chassis is at it limit before you put any of your belongings or supplies in it. They are very underpowered. Run away and buy a better built rv.

Go ahead, run away, and leave these compact, super reliable little motorhomes that get 17 mpg. We will gladly take them and cruise past you as you're stopped once again, filling up your gas-guzzling heavy rig.

I feel like I. Drove every minute there, and it was boring.

Not worth $4k and another idiot who thinks painting will make it look better instead of cleaning the original cabinets. Flooring looks good.
