These cars are tired, worn and clapped out. Finding a good 86 is like trying to find a stock 240sx. You just don't see them often.

They could always be rebuilt, I’ve never owned one so I never really looked into the market for oem parts for rebuilding and refurbishing these. Shame that some JDM cars from these years have a shortage of that.

I got lucky in 2021 during the pandemic, I managed to buy an 86 in Long Beach off an old man who was dying. He gave it to me for 750.00 all stock, garage kept and 80k miles

My 86 is way more clapped probably why I wouldn’t part ways with it for money It’s a piece of my family but I see those high prices all day here in the islands
@hakosan862 жыл бұрын
Damn man i hope people aren’t paying that high of a price for one. I would never sell mine either, too much blood sweat and tears on mine to sell

Not saying his car is worth whatever, if you offered me 6K for something I was selling for 10K youd never hear from me again.
@hakosan862 жыл бұрын
Well thats you my man. Ive offered people 10k for a car that they originally had for sale for 30k and picked it up that same day. If you care about what the seller feels like you’ll never get a deal.

If you got cash in hand and they want to sell cash talks a lot. Not only that but if your the type of seller to not respond your missing out on buyers that negotiate. Thats like rule number 1 when selling a car unless you want to wait for the perfect buyer that doesn’t ask questions and give you full price.
@hakosan862 жыл бұрын
Another buying tip is the first message you send shouldn’t be “6k cash”. Talk to the buyer a little. Get to know the car more and figure out problems that weren’t listed. After going back and forth a bit then say “man with the timing issue not being fixed which could turn out to be a lot more than just timing and the rust in the trunk, the most i’d be able to give you is $6,000 cash. I’ve got it in hand and can come take it off your hand tomorrow” then they should respond with “I’ll take 8k tomorrow if you come before 2pm” or something.

Dude, everything cool is either overpriced or worn out junk and if you’re talking 80s, no parts. Nowadays your best choice is a 350z or the infinity variation. Lexus LS series, although automatic, are super reliable great looking tanks and theres a lot of obtainable ones under $10k Fiesta st is another one that will be worth looking at soon…
@hakosan862 жыл бұрын
Yeah thats true dude! I just don’t like newer cars though so that why I usually buy 80’s cars

i kind of agree with you. the only real reason these ever got popular aside from initial d was because they were some of the cheapest cars you could drift. take away the low price and youre just left with a rwd shitbox that costs too much to restore.
