Good evening, dear Beach Angel and all my beach-loving friends! I hope you've had a great week! Here in the mountains of East Tennessee, we're expecting six to eight inches of snow and temps approaching the sibgle digits over the next few days. Brrr! 🥶 Wow! Y'all did get clobbered! I was watching the weather and observed that the wind was pushing water on shore. Hope you remembered that sea horses get pushed way up the beach! Those sharks are so cool! When I was training to be a lifeguard, nearly fifty years ago, we were taught to punch a shark to discourage them. Their skin feels like sandpaper! Fortunately, I never had to do that! You're finding really pretty shells, big ones, too! I'm so happy for you! Oh, Beach Time! I wait all week for the waves which soothe my nerves and whisper their secrets to me. That looks like a gator to me! So glad you made a good haul today, Beach Angel! Those shells really cleaned up well. This always reminds me to clean my shell collection! Much live to all of you! Be blessed as you move forward with your lives. ❤🐚🧜🌹

Wow-the sharks are shallow. Based on the depth, I would say bulls. And the fun thing is that when you see predators, that means their food is available. So see the food (like a ball of bait fish), assume those who eat it are there. And that goes the same for if you see dolphins, assume there are sharks because they eat the same thing. Honestly, I don’t know why I still go in the ocean, lol!

Hi Sharmon! What a nice collection of shell goodies you found this time! You asked for those of us who also have a love of Florida fighting conchs to comment on the specifics we like. Ok. I like the point on them and the greater the twist it has below the point, the better. I also like the knobs on the sides. The bigger the knobs, the better I like it. And one of the best things about the conchs is their incredible variations of color and patterns. If I lived in Florida, I'd have a large collection of them. But I also think calico scallops are gorgeous for their colors and patterns. Truth be told, I have a thing for paper figs too. I have one that I bought at a shell shop and I love the spiral on the top and the lightweight almost opaque body of it. I liked everything you found today. (That large older whelk with the hole in its side would look neat with a succulent growing in it!) You mentioned that you thought that the west coast might have a greater variety of bivalves. Well since I live on the west coast, I can tell you variety or not, none of our shells are as colorful as those found on the east coast, not even the giant moon snail shells. By the way, that moon shell you cleaned up turned out GORGEOUS! Have a great week!

Hello! I may be visiting Sanibel this year and I was wondering if you have any advice for tourists navigating the community post- hurricane. How are the restaurants and businesses? I have been to sanibel before the hurricane and I am having trouble finding how much everything is back up and running. I hope everything is going well, what a wonderful video!

Lots and lots of things are opening back up, but there are still many places recovering. We are ready for visitors, but it's going to be a while before we are back to where we were pre-hurricane.

Shellers can impact hermit crab populations by picking shell that the crabs would use (see link below). Leave some for the life that depends on them.

I never thought I would say a crab is cute.. but that crab was adorable … if you are ever more north Cumberland island (you have to take a ferry) has moon snails in abundance .. and wild horses, it’s a really neat place ❤

I've seen the Assateague ponies. It's so fun to see wild horses on the beach!

I absolutely love your videos. Shelling is one of my absolute favorite things to do, but hard to do from freezing cold Minnesota! I can’t wait to be back down there in March!

I'm a fan of the FCC as well. But I love the super dark ones, almost black and the buttery yellow ones the most. I do love an interesting pattern and the juvenilles as well.

Maybe I'll get there one day when I can choose just 2 or 3 different things that make me go gaga over those shells. I'm just not there yet 😂

I pick up every single fighting conch. I can't resist. You are so much more discerning than I am! 😂

So far I have 2 big bowls, a lantern, and a bucket filled with them. I'm going to need a bigger house if I'm not more careful 🤣

Hi Sharmon! I love your videos! They are so well done (videography, voiceover and information). I have learned so much. We are coming down the end of April for a couple of days of shelling and staying in Naples. I'm almost done watching all of your videos and look forward to each Sunday to see the new ones. Shelling is a lot like beach glass hunting up here in Northeast Ohio. One day there may be a beach full of goodies and the next day the waves have either covered them with sand or pulled them back into the lake. So I know it may be hit or miss when we come down. I know it's not the same as finding them yourself but I purchased a small collection of shells at an estate sale recently and had such a great time finally touching and examining some of these beauties up close and personal. The estate sale company put them in glass jars but told me they were in a cardboard box labeled Sanibel. Bingo! A whole lot of fun for $41. It's so funny seeing what somebody else collected after watching your videos. This person loved lettered olives, banded tulips, true tulips, paper figs, moon snails, FFCs, alphabet cones and murexes. Some true treasures they collected: a couple of angulate wentletraps, a dozen or more alphabet cones, a large true tulip and some small ones and a junonia with missing chunks but it's the whole shell! My husband thought I was nuts when I exclaimed "A JUNONIA!". Now I know what you mean about FFCs being heavy! I picked up the glass jar and thought, Sharmon was right! Save FFCs for the end of the shelling daytrip. I'm so glad these shells didn't get thrown away after the person passed away. They are now my treasure to cherish. Thank you again for turning me on to such a fun hobby! I can't wait to come down in April! ♥

What a fun comment to read! Thanks for taking the time. When you said you got to touch and examine these beauties close up, I knew you'd be hooked. There is something about the smoothness of a lettered olive, and the spots all over the alphabet cones. How wonderful for the original owner to have passed down treasures to an appreciative stranger. I love this! I hope you excelling glass-finding luck this year!

What a gorgeous day for being out at the beach. I don’t know about those sharks they just seem too darn close to shore for me to go in those waters. I was kind of shocked that they came in that close to shore. Now those dolphins are another story. I would love to swim with those dolphins in their natural habitat, which is the ocean. 🤭 As if you didn’t know that. You had such a beautiful collection of shells when you arrived home and the 2 shells really cleaned up great!! Oh how I love Fort Myers Beach!, can’t wait!! Have a great week Sharmon and thanks for another great video!!😍😍🩵🩵🐬🐬

Great video. Calming, even with the sharks! Not sure what that skull-looking thing was that you found. I initially thought it was a different fish that might also look like a crucifix when you flipped it over. Wondering if it was the same bone section, just of another type of fish.

Maybe...no one has given me a good clue yet. There's always something neat to check out at the beach!
