What’s up punks, My heart is breaking typing this, but I am required to take a medical leave from my online work. You’ve seen my health deteriorate over the past few years but it’s finally reached a breaking point where I have no choice but to stop ignoring my body and doctors’ warnings. It is mandatory for me to go offline in order to rest and recover. I’m sorry if this comes as a shock to anyone. I have tried my best to be as open as I could about the state of my health, but I think I’ve even kept myself in the dark about how serious things were getting. I really just wanted to keep going. But my body does not care what I want to do anymore. She’s had enough and has been screaming for me to stop, for too long. And I finally need to listen. I have to practice what I preach: survival comes first. I want to extend the biggest thank you for all the love and support y’all have given to not only me, but also, to this space. There are not enough words, in any language on planet earth, to express how grateful I am for this cozy corner of the internet and what y’all have helped it become. So thank you. Thank you for clicking. Thank you for caring. And most of all, thank you so much for being nice. 🐌💛

I am also on medically mandated work leave currently and I know the stress and uncertainty that comes with that. I just wanted to try to reach out to tell you that you are heard and that you matter. It's so refreshing to see someone have "just surviving" as their intention and "goal" for the new year. As a fellow chronically ill person it can be quite hard sometimes seeing everyone make all these big new years resolutions and goals when all you've been doing is focusing on surviving for years and years. So for all of us chronically ill folk : 2024 is for surviving and celebrating the mundanity!!!!

Also if you want a book rec (lol) the one which taught me how to rest on a practical every day level is The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer, it has spiritual tones but is very scientific and the principles apply easily to secular life as well (plus the spiritual perspective is rather interesting if you ask me)

with all of the pressure around to completely reinvent yourself and be overwhelmingly positive about the year past it’s really lovely to see someone I look up to being realistic about their growth and goals for the year to come. 2023 was the year I was diagnosed with depression and honestly with all the recap videos it’s easy to feel like I failed a bit. I can imagine that having all these eyes on you through YT could be overwhelming, but tysm Ally for your videos, they have really inspired me this year to both push myself where I can but also allow myself to rest, good luck for 2024

Wasn't expecting tulip asmr to sound so ..visceral? In a good way? As someone lucky enough to grow up speaking three languages, I generally bypassed the struggles you're experiencing, but yeah, translating is a lot of work. You have to bring together two different versions of the same idea, as each language has a unique interpretation of the world. Really gets those cogs turning. Also, my just partner just got me my first Jellicat, an "amuseabean"? kitten (who is also incapable of sitting up straight). I carry her around in my bag as a stim toy.

My husband has had migraines since he was 2 and they've only gotten worse, he's 29 now. Emgality works for him but slowly doesn't and he takes a 4 month break. His first month back on is amazing and slowly loses its effectiveness again :( he's been using it roughly 3 years. I hope you don't have that problem but if you do just know the first month back on should be better ❤

Oooh Clarice Lispector is one of my fav authors but it's a strange love, for me her books are either 5 stars or 2 stars, and Near to the Wild Heart was a 2 star for me. It was her first book published and her weakest I think. If you want to try her again but you just want more of the highlighting beautiful passages and not having to worry about some random plot then I highly recommend Agua Viva and The Passion According to GH those are my favs of hers! Really glad you gave her a try I think she deserves more recognition
