How big is the orthodox community in Brazil? From what I know the evangelicals are on the rise...
@gre83 ай бұрын
@@riccardozorn1822 Extremely small. For such a huge country, with the largest Lebanese diaspora in the world (not even counting others, like the Ukranians), there are remarkably few Orthodox churches in the country. Really a shame because this country would benefit immensely from Orthodoxy. And yes, very soon, within less than 10 years, pentecostalism will overtake catholicism as the largest christian group in Brazil, which is incredibly sad to think about.

@Jamel B the band is Orthodox. And there were MANY Orthodox before the 6 day war. Most of those many migrated back to the country of origin (especially the Greeks) but of those that stayed, there are many nationalities. And on top of that, many Orthodox have married people who are not native to Israel in any way. For example a good friend of mine here married a Finnish man. Many of those Orthodox study overseas for more opportunities and some will marry outside of their race and settle the family here. I don't know if that makes any sense lol Long story short. Many Orthodox here that are not native Palestinians.

@@michamarkiewicz1642 Yes, we speak Neo Aramaic also known as Neo Assyrian. I moved to the US when I was a child but it's not easy being a Christian in the Middle East, which is very sad because that is the birthplace of Christianity. The Turks and Arabs have participated in ethnic cleansing for decades and have driven the majority of Christians out of the Middle East. But I don't want to speak ill of people and many Arabs and Turks are lovely people who have opposed the persecution of the Assyrians.

These videos of the bands processing on Palm Sunday have brought me such joy! As Christians we read the accounts in the Bible, and meditate on them. These scenes have provided my impoverished imagination sights & sounds to consider, that the entry of Our Lord into the Holy City was probably accompanied by such music. To see the priests, and, finally, the Patriarch, process, with such dignity, joy and radiating love to the crowd gives a tiny glimpse of that great day long ago.
