For those who are finding this difficult to follow (I admit I'm a beginner too)...I found that the following worked for my scarf: 1. Cast on an even number of stitches......I used the simple chain cast-on. 2. Knit 3 rows of 2 x knit stitches, 2 x purl stitches......I found it easier if you start and end each row with a purl stitch. 3. On the 4th row do the twist as shown in the video......and every 4th row thereafter. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you have the length of scarf you require. It shouldn't matter about the direction (back and forth), as the 4th row should always be going in the same direction, and as long as you keep everything (number of pegs and number of rows) in even numbers it should work out fine. Anyway, doing it this way worked perfectly for me :0) Many thanks for the video......who knew cable knitting could be so easy!

Hi Brenda, generally speaking, you don't cable in every row. In most patterns, you'll cable only on the even rows (or only the odd rows) or every 4th row. On the in-between rows, you will simply knit or purl the stitches depending on peg (following the same stitch pattern as the other stitches in that column). Hope that helps!

@mccoycarol Hi there. We used the regular knitted cast-on that's demonstrated in our videos. Often, that first row will feel tight as you work it; however, subsequent rows will be much easier to work. If you find that it's challenging to cable on the first row, try working several rows in your rib pattern and then cable on the next row. (Most cable patterns have several plain rows between the cable rows to create a better visual effect.) Hope this helps!

@fllyannabelle Hi there, generally, cabling only takes place on few rows (to space out the design), and usually only when working the rows in one direction. When you go back in the other direction, your pattern will probably have you just knit the knit stitches (our green pegs in the video) and purl the purl stitches (our pink pegs in the video).

Thanks so much for the tutorial... Though, how do you do it when you go from the opposite end when you've done your first row & double back for your second, fourth, sixth, eighth, Etc. Etc....? Your help/advice is much appreciated.

I'm looking for a video on how to do a hat with cable stitches on a circular loom. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

What cast on stitch do you use for this? No matter how loose of a stitch I use the 3rd or 4th cable is too tight to cross. It would be helpful to see the start of the project thanks love your work.

What was the peg set up for this pattern? This video isn't very helpful if you don't show the full loom!

So is it safe to assume that when we work back in the opposite direction we just keep following the pattern back ??
