Yep that’s why when you play AC4 it’s says your working at Abstergo entertainment, Assassins creed died with Desmond, and hearing that Patrice wanted to make a game like AC3 and the fact that he played it and said he doesn’t really like the route they went with it make me feel like the Pre-Production version of AC3 was probably what Patrice was envisioned for it took look like since AC3 started production almost the same time half way though Brotherhoods production, and this is the reason why I say the AC series died with Patrice and Desmond.

Fuck I love red haired women. Yes, I am a member of the Leo K Discord, thank you for asking. I have loved red haired women ever since the first one came out for PS2 (#OGGamer haha like and subscribe and hit that bell notification so you never miss a video) and no other member of the grill race attracts me more than that. So my question is, why the fuck is Elise de la Serre from Assassin's Creed Unity such a little bitch??? Unity, as you know, is an underrated gem. IGN gave it a 7.8 out of 10 and yes I did track down the reviewer who gave it that score and forced him to watch Leo K miss 5 point blank shots on a large dog in Far Cry 5. No, this is not Guantanamo Bay but that seriously gave me P STD flashbacks to Nam (American btw, if you weren't born in the 1960s u wouldnt understand cuz u arent an old epik gamer like I am XD). Anyways, I was walking around Paris having a great day, admiring the beautiful graphics, watching the citizens go about their business, admiring Arno's tight ass, etc just your typical PEECEE gamer lifestyle sunglasses . Then suddenely I saw a notification to meet a red haired girl at a cafe because she was hot and sexy and perfect for a rogue like me :thinkowo: . Her name was Elise and wow she was super pretty btw if I had to rate a video game character on a scale from alright to sexy I would rate Elise 4 Assassin's Creeds are deads out of 5. Anyways, I was going to ask for her phone number to have hot french sex on a baguette somewhere and i was about to whip my dick out epic style when she started going off on some LAME tangent about Templars v Assassins. AKA, ASSASSINS CREED stuff. Wtf am I some loser NERD?

Imagine an assassins creed game with those two at the helm as directors, with the writer from 4 sprucing up the script, Brian Tyler on the composer position, and a fully realized colonial America as the back drop and not the watered down version we got in 3. Desilets seems to have an interest in indigenous culture too which is why I wouldn’t be surprised if the choice as Connor as protag was a hold over from his ideas. Could have been interesting seeing some really ugly aspects of the revolution from a Native American perspective too which I feel 3 tried but failed at. Quick tangent to prove this point is the lack of any real mention of the Iroquois confederacy’s influence on the articles of confederacy and declaration of independence despite the story involving them in one sequence. Also very weird there was no mention of the thinly veiled racism behind the Boston tea party, the time Washington legit had to steal food from colonist due to congressional deadlock, or Ben Franklin’s racism towards native Americans, weird how close Connor is to him and no mention of it or his historically recorded comment on the Iroquois being surprisingly complex in government for what he saw as a savage and far less civilized people. Also feel the story of a Mohawk assassin fits so well into the overarching themes and philosophies of assassins and Templars specifically. Hell there’s a good moment Haythem basically makes the case for Connor and why he should fight for freedom when trying to discredit the revolution for installing a similar government the Templars would want with a select few making the decisions. Connor was so disappointing because he had so much potential in terms of storyline and his character if written right would make a perfect assassin ideologically, with the American revolution serving as a perfect backdrop for why he fights but alas we got AC 3 instead and now AC is just bargain bin Witcher.

One thing I really admire about Patrice is his commitment to originality. Assassin's Creed was an original setting and concept that had never really been seen in a video game before or since. 1666 Amsterdam looked interesting and bizarre, but like something I've never seen before. Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey looks like it's following suit with its prehistoric setting. Above all else, I just love the man's passion for this medium. ThePreciseClimber true but Patrice seems to have a lot of interest in indigenous cultures which honestly makes me think AC3 would have been focused on that aspect more than it was if he were in charge. Like yes Mohawk is used as a language and you see the Iroquois confederacy at some point but it feels like it wasn’t fleshed out more, like the indigenous parts of AC3 just felt like they were there to justify the Issu shit. You spend a lot of time with the Mohawks yes but again it’s all in service to the issu precursor stuff with not a lot of emphasis on the actual culture of the mohawk, which could show that the ideology of assassins and templars transcends societal borders given that most indigenous tribes favored an anarchical communal based societies that could naturally tied into assassin philosophy and ideology. (hell AC4 points out the fact a lot of indigenous people in the Caribbean naturally fell into the assassins just based on the anarchical society and politics they shared) Could be a great contrast to the Templar plot that could see the order try and control both sides of the conflict with the primary plot being them influencing the revolution, there’s already a good scene in 3 with Haythem basically illustrating the hypocrisy of the revolution that preaches freedom yet installs a republic where a select few control the course of events that already lays the groundwork for a revolution and American government tied to Templar ideals that existed even before their involvement. Instead all that time with the mohawk is spent contextualizing issu artifacts or the time is spent setting up weak plot points of templars encroaching on their land (which at the end felt like it was forgotten about when it should be one of Connor’s primary goals instead of dicking around with a bunch founding fathers who would inevitably encroach and wipe out the mohawk anyway, something that I felt could have been a great tragic irony for Connor if emphasized more) Like there’s little to no mention of how the Iroquois confederacy influenced the articles of confederacy or Declaration of Independence, weird too given Franklin commented on their government in a racist remark on how complex it was for a savage people and how a similar government should be implemented in the colonies.(weird there’s no animosity between Connor and Franklin for that racist tinge too given Connor is Mohawk and his tribe was a member of the Iroquois) AC3 to me felt very unsure in its historical aims that I feel Patrice’s interest in indigenous cultures could have focused the story into what I feel could have been one of the best assassins creed stories. A story of a Native American assassin fighting for freedom after the American revolution for freedom left his people slaughtered and with no home could have finally hit those themes of freedom and control in the assassin and Templar philosophies the games try but more often than not fumble in demonstrating in an interesting way. I will admit being a Native American does mean I’m a little biased and angry that one of the only Native American protagonist in video games is as bland and is as underutilized as Connor but I still hold the setting and choice of protagonist could have been perfect for the assassins and Templars conflict and was sorely disappointed by 3 and Connor despite wanting to like it more than it probably deserves. (Quick side note too since it’s been ages since I played 3 so I can’t remember if it’s there but how come there wasn’t more ugly shit about the founding fathers in the game like when Washington legit stole food from colonist for his armies due to congressional deadlock? Would that not be a good opportunity to show more of these crazy events?)

AC3 started production half way at the end point of brotherhoods production and even before revelations even started, Patrice was probably involved with the early concepts of AC3 that’s probably why the leaked early AC3 test footage looked like nothing like the final game because stuff got cut and changed due to new people working on it at Ubisoft. Which fu#%g sucks because the test footage looks so cool.

Hello. Thank you for this video, I found it really helpful and also to see the person that sparked a passion inside of me. Back in 2011, I played my first AC game. It was at a friends house, and I liked it from the start and I convinced my parents to buy it (mom was very sensitive to games). After AC2, I got the rest of them available at the time and after that I preordered every addition to the franchise. But for this year, with sadness, I won't preorder Odyssey. The reason is not necessary that I don't think it's a bad game, or if it's an AC game or not... It has to do with that it perhaps don't have what I'm looking for, something that the franchise has lost over the years. I keep going back to Ezios story. Sure, I've replayed every game at least once but with Ezio's I can't keep up the count. I think I might have figured out a reason for it. In this video, Patrice Desilets speaks about crafting your own story - and I think it's very true. Many people don't understand why I keep going back to a game I've already played, a game where I have the plat trophy (without trying..). But, every time I play it I have a different story. I see different and other things, and in the world I experience different things (oh all the stupid things I've done). Previously, I said I liked the game from the start. While that's true, I perhaps didn't love it from the start. I got other games I like, but not with the same passion. The moment I fell in love with AC tho, was perhaps towards the end. Where (spoilers) Minerva speaks to Desmond through Ezio BUT also through me. I had a chill down my spine, and in that moment I became so invested that I was not only the player but Desmond and Ezio. There are many other strong scenes and events tho that made me feel the same way in AC. But I believe, that I keep searching for them in other AC games and that AC can't give me that. I think the thing that made AC was just like he talked about in the video, different opinions and this sort of struggle between templars and assassins. I think it's also to do with struggles, but with living as a human. AC4 also gave me that, but not as an assassin struggle but through Edwards life. It's sort of weak in AC4 tho, and much stronger in Ezio. In Ezio we have a lot of 'meaningless' side stories, but they all build up his life. We follow a young foolish man growing up and coping with life. It's not simply about if Origins can give us a sequel, but if they can give me the same struggle. Going back to the Minerva scene, I've found similar emotions in other games. A scene in Horizon Zero Dawn gave me the chills as well, when Aloy confronts Sylens about Elizabeth Sobeck (namely him not understanding her). It dosen't have the same love and passion. But I've realised it dosen't have to be AC. I'm fine with AC just as it is. Going back to Odysseys. I will play it but I won't preorder it. I love ancient Greece and I would love to play a game about it. I don't think it will have the story I'm looking for tho, but I won't put my other feelings into it. I will enjoy it as it is, and I will enjoy AC just as it is. I have Ezios story. I will look for other stories. But his story is always there. Oh wow. This text is all over the place, as expected of someone just wrote it on the go. But to sum it up.. I love AC and will always do. But my game was Ac2. It was Ezio. I won't force other games to fill it's place. I will look forward to Patrices new game. Thank you for reading a fellow Assassins Creed fans text.

chocobosROK From his interest in tribal and indigenous cultures I wouldn’t be surprised if Connor as protag was a hold over of his ideas, and something that always depressed me about 3 was that failed aim in telling the revolution from a different perspective. I’m hoping patirce’s interest in indigenous cultures would have focused on that aim of telling the rev from the perspective of a Native American. Mohawk specifically would still be a good choice too given they were a tribe nearly wiped out in colonialism and were members of the Iroquois confederacy, a government that highly influenced both articles of confederacy and Declaration of Independence and yet 3 makes little to no mention of that fact, especially weird given you meet Ben Franklin who commented on how the Iroquois government should be implemented in the colonies and how surprisingly complex it was for a people he viewed as savage. That focus on indigenous cultures too would go hand in hand with the Templar assassin conflict with the indigenous anarchical communal society being much in line with the assassin order.(hell 4 points out that Caribbean indigenous tribes just naturally fell in with the assassins because of their cultural similarities)

Can't wait to play the game. His vision is always about players being able to play creatively. In early AC games there were many shortcuts and parkour control skills (e.g. Advanced wall jump) that players can practice. But these got removed because ubisoft hate him so much. With Odyssey, basically everything in the past is gone, and they try to make the game a witcher so hard, because of its commercial success. These days more linear, largely narrative and very graphic game got release because an average casual player will love it so much, only a few developers will try to allow fun in gameplay, freedom in controls and creativity in achieving objectives. Nice interview!

So sad to see him talk about AC3 and how he'd've liked to do it. Seems like he had it all planned out. What would have become of it had be been allowed to make it? Also, I actually learned a lot about Ancestors. I got the idea that maybe you kind of play as your genome? With what he said about the target being to evolve and the clan and kind-of-permadeath... we'll see. I just hope it doesn't get boring with the "players make their own story" concept. I don't know that this has ever been successfully pulled off. But I guess if anybody can do it, it's our man Patrice. I wish him he best of luck.

After the oh so simplistic storyline of AC2, I don't know if I would've been on board with Patrice handling AC3. The Desmond ending would've PROBABLY been good... Probably. I mean, Desmond was barely in AC2 and Patrice was in charge of that game! Not even sure if he even cared that much about the guy. But I'm not so sure if Patrice's AC3 would've had an interesting Assassin-Templar conflict. It might've been something in the vein of AC2, aka - "We nice, dem bad. Let's get stabbin'." with no clever twist. ----------------------- Also, why has Patrice never revealed his planned AC3 ending? At least I'm pretty sure we haven't correct me if I'm wrong. But seriously - where is it? Would Ubi bust his ass for revealing a what-if scenario for a game he never worked on?

> i really can't see what's wrong with ac2, it's a simple story about vengence, about a hero against people who took everything from him and so he fights them by becoming a master assassin That's exactly the problem. AC2 did not have the nuance of AC1. AC2 betrayed the franchise's identity in order to appeal to the mainstream crowd with its ludicrously black & white story. The "simple story about vengeance" had no place in this franchise, at least at the time. This is something that belongs more in a shounen manga rather than a follow-up to Assassin's Creed 1. The only major flaws with AC3 were the lack of Connor's ending monologue and how rushed Desmond's story felt. But overall Haytham and Connor's tale is of much higher quality than what AC2 offered us. Ezio only truly shined in Revelations, the game which brought back the missing depth after the dumbed-down AC2 & ACB. > Ac 3 at the time it came out was full of plot holes and was victim of really bad writing choices that only today we can in a certain way "accept" thanks to what we have seen in Rouge Rogue was actually quite a letdown after the superb AC3 & AC4. I expected another well-written "shades of gray" story but instead of that the writers just swapped the black & white morality around. Assassins became assholes and Templars became goodie two-shoes. Shay didn't betray the Templars because of a shift in ideology. Oh no, he did it because both he and the Assassins lost their communication skills and started accusing each other of nonsense. AC3 is just fine on its own and it definitely wasn't "fixed" by Rogue. In fact, Rogue diminished Achilles as a character. Is AC3 perfect? No, of course not. Neither are AC1, Revelations or AC4. But they're still the best the franchise has to offer. Top of the class. Genuinely good video game stories.

You can´t make a AC game always Grey and that´s true, but AC 2 did it way too much with it´s revenge arc, to the point of it being one of the biggest reason for the decline of the AC franshise since most people based thier ideas on how a AC should look like on AC 2 rather than it´s surperior precursor AC1. AC 3 was much better than Ac 2 because it was, first more engaging, had a better main character, more interesting combat despite the "plotholes" you mentioned. In fact the whole Plothole argument towards AC 3 stems from people, with no clear idea how storywriting functions and is mostly based on the fact that they don´t even follow the story. Only Few have given me valid Criticism of the plot like Desmond´s Death and Haytham´s existence. Rougue was just pure garbage and was an insult to AC and your Intellegence, i advice you to threat it as garbage, not a Mindful story like AC 3 and Revelations.

The more powerful consoles get, the harder it is to pull off social stealth realistically. "Because it's tough," Désilets explained. "It's hard to make you believe in it. It's tough to render a crowd and make sure that players get that they're hidden. AAA is a lot about precision, in the character models and the rendering of the crowd. But I still find it interesting. It was unique and different and not easy to make. But maybe that was abandoned for something more trendy. You said AAA, and AAA, it's money, man. It costs a lot to make, so you need to make sure a lot of people will appreciate it. That's why, I guess, people say, 'We'll just do the hack and slash, and NPCs will be there but they won't be the main part,' which is a shame. We had something." Who knows, perhaps as the series grows further down the RPG route, complex stealth mechanics can evolve into a path that's more optional for those players who want to follow it? With that said, that's the kind of thing that sounds like a ton of work for an optional feature... We'll just have to wait and see what future games hold in store. After so many AC games, why not try something else, like moving forward with more RPG elements? I'm not necessarily talking about custom characters as in "I must identify with every character I play." After playing I and II, Syndicate and Origins, I think Odyssey looks like the best one yet. I'm ready to hear (again) that it begins and ends with Ezio's story, so come up with something else.

Awkward.... should leave him to his new journey, dragging him back to AC is really cruel to him. He quit from Ubisoft, joined another company, in which ubisoft later acquired, he then quit again from that company before building his own career. He was uncomfortable the whole time talking about AC, and Loomer "okay-ish" replies when he talking about ancestors was a bit discouraging. Let's look forward to his new games from now on, he's done bearing the burden behind AC's shadows... or glory.

KINSLINK Actually, Unisoft fired him after he refused yearly releases, and wanted to remain passionate for the games. Afterwards, he began to create a spiritual successor to AC. Amsterdam, you might know it as. After Ubisoft caught wind of this threat, they sold out the company and fired him again. They had a pretty intense legal battle, too, so that's why he probably is vague about AC. He was incredibly passionate and didn't want to yearly release because he knew that it would not improve the games.

I sure miss Patrice Desilet the Assassin Creed series isn't doing so great after he left. I stop playing those games after Syndicate, one of the problems I found was that Ubisoft is simply copying other games and adding them to Assassin Creed which in terms don't fit at all I mean Syndicate has Batman Arkham mechanics I mean what's next an Assassin Creed game having the Last of Us gameplay mechanics. I still wonder how would it be like if Assassin Creed 3 was done by Patrice what changes would have done and how will his version of the story be like. I still wonder what would have been the 4 remaining ancestors of Desmond Miles in the original idea.

When you have a goose that lays golden eggs, you give it whatever it wants and keep it as happy as you can. If you get an egg or two a year, then so be it. You DON’T kick the goose and demand 10 eggs a day because then guess what, the goose fucks off and you’re left with chickens laying disappointing eggs caked in shit. Ubisoft found its golden egg-laying goose and didn’t just kick it, they tried to drown it, threatened its family, set it alight, and were shocked when the goose didn’t lay a hundred eggs a day for them.

The Assassins on the other hand love Humanity, they even embraced it by realizing that people need to be given a form of freedom and take responsibility for their own lives. I mean if this guy worked on Brotherhood it's pretty clear to me that he had run out of ideas himself. The series could have been so much better than what it was if only it had some better writing. The LORE was completely butchered in favor of eye candy combat and mass murder which they call "assassinations" for some reason. Their lore went from "a templar had some role in a historical event" to "every single conflict in history was an assassins-templars clash". Instead of taking more of a Hitman route and focus on assassinations (hidden blade or not) and escapes which give the parkour a purpose, they focused on public battles against dozens of military troops and civilian rescues. Which is ridiculous for the lore of a game which tries to identify itself as anything close to assassins (and I'm talking about actual missions, not random scenarios created by the player in the world). The whole "try to be neutral and keep a low profile in order to assassinate an unsuspecting target, preferably unseen" part just went "kill that one guy behind that army, and kill the army too. Don't worry, everyone around is just going to forget everything". Just rename Assassin's Creed to Mass Murderer in Historical Periods
@mozartcastellanosGK

Nope he worked most of Brotherhood and needed a break then he found out he's out, there's only one path which is resign. I'm PRETTY SURE he has ideas and plan with Corey May and Jade Raymond, it's because AC2 when it came out, Most people who play this game just want to go back to historical time period, Ubi knew it so they gradually get rid of the team and get some other writers to run with their ideas as long as this franchise sells.
