Its complex but basically it proposes that the entire structure of space/time is made up of small (1x10-35m) loop networks. This allows a smooth transition between the einstein equations (larger universe) to the singularity (ex black holes) physics. try googling loop quantum gravity for dummies. it's a short summary.

its new (1988 theory developed by Carl Rovelli) but you can get the basics on wikipedia. And looking into loop quantum cosmology is also really cool which you can also find in wikipedia.

I like Sheldon but in this case I have to side with Leslie. I think the answers and the testable predictions lie with loop quantum gravity not string theory. Maybe we will have some more information after the experiments with gravity waves and CMB. (If NASA gets to do it)
