Hi Scott ! Thanks for your amazing work making videos! I have a question. Can I use the stage Traxx app like you did, but with the Behringer X Air XR 16? Can I use the USB port of the XR 16 like you did with the XR 18 ? I'm planning to buy a behringer X air so that's what I'm asking 😊 Thanks for your help!

Love the ability to mix different instruments/channels, super flexible when using different variety of musicians at different gigs. Being able to extend sections of the song through repeating and reordering makes backing tracks a viable option for me, it’s great being able to respond to the audience for a more natural live experience. Thanks Scott!

It would be nice if it could have more tracks. Definitely it has plenty of outputs at 8 though! The thing I like about Multitracker is I can load Keys, Percussion, Strings, Horns, and SFX as separate tracks, and route them all to the same Tracks output, and that way I can mix them on the fly and not have to go back to Ableton. I almost do the same as you for the others, Drums, Bass, Track, Click, Cue. I like the idea of a separate backing vox track, I may do that.

I agree. The hard panning is an ok work around but I would rather have the multitracker style with more tracks available. Stage Traxx 3 is my go to app for my solo, and I love it, but I'm moving to multitracker for my band for that exact reason. GREAT vid, Scott.

You’re so good at these videos!! Bravo again. Just a note on your choice about maybe switching to usb… if you upgrade to a new iPad at some point, you might have to, as it’s hard to get one with a headphone output now. And in my experience the usb c to headphone dongle is horrendous… when we changed iPad we had to get a usb c hub so then we could use a usb DI box, so maybe your usb x air routing has the most longevity… provided you don’t ever use anything smaller than the x air 18. We have an x air 12 so don’t have the direct multitrack usb option unfortunately.

Thanks so much for this. Don’t think I would do Multi track as it would get to be to much for me to do live. Rather do it the way you have it now take bass out of one and guitar/keyboard out of another and have 3 different color coded tracks. Anyway, during pandemic I made baking tracks for all songs my country/ Americana type band use to play and now have great way to play them. They sound really good.

Hi, Scott! Talking about multiTrack Outputs configuration in live performances: you show us an excellent option to mute (off) tracks/channels on Audio Routing setings (12:22). I think Stage Traxx3 developer ( www.youtube.com/@stagetraxx ) could add a new menu/page with Global outputs for all the songs like a master mixer output. This option is available for each song, but we can't use it for all the songs and playlists. It would be easier to mute/unmute tracks in different situations

Thanks Scott, awesome vid a always ! This app is almost perfect, the only drawback I see is that you are limited to 6 stems at the same time, 8 or 10 would be perfect so that we can also separate other instruments (such as piano, brass or sfx). Also speed shifting for multitrack would be awesome for practice. If you get a chance to highlight those improvements to them, please do :)
@ScottUhlMusic
@ScottUhlMusic Жыл бұрын
I’ve seen a few people in the comments mentioning that… I honestly think 6 is plenty, and my advice would be to combine stuff: strings, piano and brass all together and stuff like that. Or click and cues. Or you can also use the headphone out too. Just my two cents. Glad the video helped 🤘
@the_guy_next_door_31
@the_guy_next_door_31 Жыл бұрын
@@ScottUhlMusic Thanks for reading the comments :) I agree with you, combining is needed at some point, especially when you see how many files you can output from karaoke version. The limit of 6 is just a bit too low to enable the full flexibility in some bands (with cues, click and backing vocals taking 3 slots, you only have 3 left for the other instruments which is not enough in my opinion), multitracker keeps the advantage on this. One more thing I find is missing is the ability to import chordpro format as lyrics (you have to switch to .txt), or retrieve chords from website like ultimate guitars (like some other apps do). That being said, this app is the best out there :)
@jonathanotrujillo

I love the midi in stage Traxx 3. The video will be out on Thursday 🤘

I’ve come from band helper and the midi is much more user friendly.

One benefit of using the headphone out rather than usb is you can use usb out to record your desk output to your phone etc, although I’m not sure if usb out and in can work simultaneously, I have a feeling it might but have never tried it.

That’s an interesting idea 🤔

@@ScottUhlMusic I managed to record the output of the XR18 in to my iPhone camera app - didn’t know it was possible to record external audio on top of a video until I stumbled on to a KZbin video. Same idea applies, USB on desk to phone via camera kit (assuming USB B to lightning would also work). One tip I did see was that the cable needs to be connected before opening the camera app for it to work. It also took me forever to get the routing working from the desk, I finally managed it but would need to check what the settings are. Not tried it at a gig but seems ideal - no messing about with a multitrack recording and syncing to video later. Only downside is only the bass drum is mic’d up in my band so would need to have more mics on the drums to make it worthwhile for (another benefit of an electric kit!).

Hopefully not a spoiler for Part 3, but are the Region and Loop buttons mappable to a midi footswitch? So far this app is like 99% exactly what I need and that would be the final 1%. But dude...these videos, your teaching style, production, etc. are just insane. Thank you for the time you've put into all this.

Thanks! And you can select next Audio region and loop Audio region with midi… but no way to do “go to chorus” with a button. I dunno if that would be possible. Although maybe in a future update?

@@ScottUhlMusic Oh man, that just made my day. I think that's all I would personally need for it to do via midi. Thanks for the follow-up!

Hi Scott Thanks for all the info you share. I wanted to ask you if you have had a chance to try the multitracks Playback app and how would you compare it with this one. I'm deciding which one to use and this one is very interesting the only thing I don't like is that you only have 6 channels. I would appreciate your comments, best regards

Six channels should be more than enough IMO to be honest. And they are 6 stereo channels. In my experience, you shouldn’t need to stem out every single instrument and combining stuff like strings/keys/synth and stuff like that is more helpful. Just my two cents. However, to answer your question I briefly messed with it, and it’s a nice interface, but ultimately I just went with Stage Traxx. I really do love Stage Traxx and it works best for me and my bands 👍
