To be honest he made a couple mistakes. The Wraith weren’t defeted at all, just the super hive with ZPM, and something else in the SGU part I cannot remember what exactly but he was saying it when the Destiny crew was leaving the ship in a shuttle in the episode Light in season 1

To be fair, a lot of people who watch a franchise do not split it up, they tend to watch one series all the way through before starting the next one. Since there is overlap of the different series' to maintain continuity attention needs to be divided for a bit.

@@meltedplasticarmyguy that is exactly what I did when I discovered Stargate earlier this year. The overlap was a bit confusing at times, and I am excited about a rewatch in the „proper“ order. I will appreciate the crossover episodes a lot more I think.

The ancients were not discovered in sgu, they're first introduced in the sg1 season 1 episode "torment of Tantalus", and revealed as the builders of the stargates in the season 2 episode "the fifth race", with following episodes revealing that they're the most advanced race ever to inhibit at least 2 galaxies(Milky way and Pegasus).

sure it mentions some things like "earth team defeats Alien X" but really, the journey of how they get there, is an amazing part of it. Eg, you really see the humans making using of the alien tech that they learn about, which in turn, makes the later episodes very interesting as far as how it refers back to stuff they found before, as well as characters that showed up in 1 or 2 episodes but never seen again. It really adds a good kind of continuity that a lot of shows forget about.

Yeah, Teal'c isn't a Goa'uld, he's Jaffa. The difference is that the Goa'uld inside him is a juvenile and cannot yet take over the host.

@mikewatkinson1996 - depends. How do you compare it to other shows, new or old ones. There were few that some would say were better, some worse, and most of that is... kind of nostalgia. Personally I've enjoyed SG-1, but lets not forget about some old ones too (and new ones): - Stargate Atlantis, Babylon 5, Farscape, Firefly, Deep Space 9, Battlestar Galactica (old and new), Defiance, Timeless, Warehouse 13, X-Files, Fringe, Eureka, Continuum, Librarians, The Good Place, 12 Monkeys, Quantum Leap, Sliders, Pretender, Sanctuary, Legends of Tomorrow, Legends of the Seeker, Primeval, Dark Matter, Killjoys, Resident Alien, Strange New Worlds, The Expanse, and few more old ones such as Space 1999, Jason of the Star Command, Early Edition, Invaders, or The Twilight Zone (the one from 1985 but also 2002-2003)... New ones are definitely different, but quite a few from 1990s were also good.

Apparently a new series is in development. According to the ones working on it, when asked how far along it is, they replied with "5 Chevrons Locked" which suggests it is over 70% of the way...

@@strongblade Here's the thing, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's even in development yet, the quote "5 Chevrons Locked" from my understanding means that in order to get the series going, several things have to fall in place, so while things are looking good, it's not all the way there yet. Correct ...... UNIVERSE is rather all by itself and I do not like the ending. They do not yet reach their destination. You are left with questions. So what happened to all the humans on the ship? Did the ship find what it was looking for? Did they get back to earth? Just what happened? It’s really annoying and leaves you with a very lonely feeling. It did me anyways. I think UNIVERSE can and should be left out of the picture all together. It has a totally diff destination and purpose and the producers did not finish the course.

Origins also rewrites the actual Origins of how the gate was found too.... meaning that it doesn't have the same events or timeline as SG-1, Atlantis, Universe.... it actually creates a new timeline based on its events compared to those of what Kathryn's original story which was answered in parts over the course of the SG-1 show

Yesss Origins kinda annoyed me in that way. Many times in the original movie and in SG-1 it was stated that they had no idea how to work the gate until Daniel showed up and cracked the puzzle. Though, they did accidentally send a man through it by randomly dialling… but that’s it. Origins totally destroys that plot point

@@sarahh1043 i believe it is available on youtube, but tbh, Origins imo isn't worth bothering with, as it rewrites the origin story and contradicts the original movie, and even SG1 & Atlantis as they went in to a lot about how, when adn where the gate was found and by who too but Origins ignores that and tries to turn it in to an adventure, when by the original premise, the gate was never used again since its discovery, however if you want to still find it then i think KZbin has it online in very short episodes

Other than that the Lucian alliance is still around, definitely not as threating as the other big bads, there also could be an invasion of a race of aliens from another galaxy. Idk just spit balling here I always enjoyed the episodes that didn't have to do with the main bad guys that I dont really need one I loved the themes of exploration and discovery in the series never knowing what was going to be on the next planet (except for a lot of green that looks suspiciously like the area around Vancouver.)

With Stargate it´s either you love it or have never heard or seen it before and will love it after you watched it :D . There is still such a big fanbase today,their univerese and story´s are quite nice and in depth and the plot almost through the whole series follows a straight line,it has such a nice humor that fits the actors so well,i consider it a real classic that brought a lot of joy watching it in my childhood after my dad showed my the first movie ^_^

Why do they send napkins through stargate? Who the hell is Skaara and Sha're and Kasuf and why are they important to Daniel and Jack? And so on.

As someone who watched SG1 before watching the film, I can definitely say that the film is essential background info that’d cause confusion if it was skipped. Also, “SG1 is an adaptation, not a sequel”?? Do you not know what adaptations are? If SG1 was an adaptation, it would’ve retold the events of the film in a different way. Instead, it’s set a year after the events of the film, and holds the basic plot points of the film as preexisting history. That is a _Sequel_ , not an _Adaptation._ 🤦‍♂️

When a sequel/spinoff/adaptation allows new viewers to understand the basic story/premise without needing to watch the (entire) original media, that doesn't _Automatically_ mean that the new media is an "adaptation" of its predecessor; that's just good accessibility. - By that logic, Star Wars Ep1 is an "adaptation" of Ep4, because of the accessibility to new viewers to the SW universe (when it's clearly a prequel along the same continuity). Now, saying that the O'Neill & Jackson _Characters_ are adaptations _of their film counterparts_ , that would make sense, as they're clearly not carbon copies, and the characters were *_Adjusted_* to fit the new medium & story structure. -However, this doesn't _Automatically_ mean that _The Entire Show_ is an adaptation of the original film, as it's clearly telling a _Subsequent, Followup_ story to the film (ie a _Sequel_ ) and not telling the _Same_ story in a different format (which is what most adaptations are).

I really think that is best for you to start with the miniseries Stargate: Origin which is canon , taking place in 1939, several decades before the events of the 1994 Stargate film. It follows a young Catherine Langford a minor character from the 1994 film and Stargate SG-1.

i kinda wish the new show *maybe) will take place after atlantis. dont really need a big bad group right off the bat. sgu was a good idea but it was to much like a day time drama. for a crew that was limited some one or more died each episode and two people had feelings in each. the explore aspect felt like it was the last thing they focused on. if they go with that for the next show (once again they say its a thing but its when not if) they need to get back to sg-1 type. i dont want a reboot cause im sure we will get copy cat shows and no ill watch the orginal.

One alternative to going back and forth between series and episodes is to do a (mostly) half season switch. I say - mostly - because of a short back and forth with the Moebius-Siege crossover. There is an actual list and it's not full season into full season. It lists each episode in order between SG1 and Atlantis. Universe came later altogether.

as an sg fan this was exciting but a little dissapointing, a lot of the facts were wrong and felt like a wiki article with misdrawn assumptions... maybe just ask a fan to help write/understand the series.

I didn't like 3 things about Stargate Universe, but that was ok because there were 97 things I did like. Regarding Stargate SG1, never in the history of spaghetti sci-fi has so much technobabble held so much water for so long! 😍😍😍

For those with the imagination, would suggest watching the Battlestar Galactica franchise and see if anyone else comes to the same conclusion of how BSG and Stargate Franchise are of the same universe ;) For instance with how the BSG ends and the level of Technology they were at at that time they very well could be "The Ancients" in the SG franchise. Tons of other ways of linking them as well, you'll even see many familiar faces that appear in both franchises. Also take note to what is said at the end of BSG "This has all happened before, it will all happen again", then in Atlantis when Wier goes back in time the "Ancient" that helps her mentions that she (current humanity) is the 2nd evolution of them (the Ancients) which is another tie of the 2 together.

I've never seen BSG except for a few episodes that come on Comet TV so my knowledge of the franchise comes from the intros. I am a huge fan of Stargate and your idea makes me want to watch BSG. BSG is headed to Earth, "the birthplace of humanity" but the Ancients evolved in an entirely different galaxy and were forced to the Milky Way by the Ori were they seeded planets with humanity 2.0 and then did the same thing again when they fled from a plague to the Pegasus galaxy. So that means that the humans of BSG can't be the Ancients but they could be either descendants or creation of the Tau'ri (the humans that were created on earth by the Ancients). Lastly, what you said about the technology level, where Stargate ended, the Tau'ri had nearly all of the knowledge of both the Ancients and Asgard plus several other species that they could also learn from.

I have watched the full 10 years Stargate SG-1 over and over again. Probably around 10+ times. Also watched Stargate Atlantis a few times. I have everything, movies and all on DVD. SG-1 is still my favorite and I could tell when Atlantis started that some people behind SG-1 took their focus off of SG-1 when that series started it all. I was disappointed by that. They shouldn't have the same people from SG-1 in charge of Atlantis.

Based entirely on how much I enjoyed the brilliant 'Travelers,' should I start watching 'Stargate SG-1,' which was co-created and written by Brad Wright?

Yes! He actually is the one individual who has remained central to the creation & production of everything in the franchise after the feature film except for Origins. And it looks like he's working on another Stargate series for Amazon Prime.

Travelers was great but theres one episode that should 100% be skipped because it breaks every rule of that show and thats the one where the whole team dies and the AI keeps sending people back into the parachuting chick.

I liked the show however it went in a completely different direction that the movies were going into. even the filmmakers said that it was way different than they were planning on it going. that all said this series ruled for several years so it deserves its own praise. The last mini series was exceptionally great and I hope they put more shows out

Ark of Truth wasn’t direct to video. I saw it in the theater. Although possibly it might have been released on DVD concurrently with its theatrical release. It was well worth having seen on the big screen.

Wait, SGA didn't complete defeated wraiths at the end (as I understand it) . They have rough time, because early wake up (thanks to Atlantis team), there wasn't enough people for them to eat and don't do genocide. So, they start civil war (battle Royale style) that allows humans focus on alliances against them. Them because SGA, there is something like rogue wraith subspecies, that decide to release dangerous cure(redevelop with SGA) that make some people poisonous for normal wraiths. Them there are replicators, that believe that best way to defeat them, is cut they food supply (humans) they create aliance with humans to defeat them. Rogue Asgards active technology that makes they hyper travel suicide and make star gates explode (cutting down number of both wraiths and humans) and them supership attack earth, because in Pegasus Galaxy isn't enough food and they have ship to get at overpopulated planet and break they defence). Why attack earth, if they were last wraiths in Pegasus Galaxy and didn't have rivals?

I think SG1 and SGA are better than SGU, but I think both SGA and SGU figured out where to go right as they got cancelled. I hope Amazon brings it back and in the same cannon.
