I mean he is tough as nails for being part of the SAS but his "Survival" scenarios are not real. People will and have died by following what he does. He showed nothing with edible plants, shelter building, things to do and not to do. Cut and Dry, his survival technique he was showing was just all for Hollywood.
@deSeriosa4 жыл бұрын
A lot of his "survival tips" have been debunked to be outrightly wrong. You can't squeeze water out of elephant dung, and it's not a great survival strat anyway. It's not about faking a scene, it's about the whole thing being a sham.

First, he is admittedly a badass, he's gone through SAS training and climbed Everest. But he lies about the conditions he is in and teaches people the wrong things just so that he gets media attention or looks cool. Just because a group of people hate something doesn't make them all 'haters' (I know literally it does but the word has become an insult at this point) people hate him because he is a bad role model. 'Haters,' the way your thinking about them, implies that there is no reason to hate him. But there are clearly multiple reasons to hate the man. Am I wrong?
@punchdrunkatheist7 жыл бұрын
He's not fake. That makes the problem even worse. His horrible survival advice isn't an accident. SAS training doesn't teach someone to do the stupid shit he passes as survival training. He climbed Mt. Everest with a broken back. But he broke that back doing his stupid shit he teaches people. In the real world, if you're in a survival situation you do everything you can not to burn your hand, much less break your fucking back. That's the reason his staying in hotels matter. That's not a luxury someone in a true situation can afford. If you aren't going to be airlifted in the next 15 minutes, probably don't do shit that's risky. He's not fake in his abilities, or toughness, or knowledge. He's a shit for misleading people who don't have the luxuries of immediate airlift from being stupid with bad survival tips. Running from a grizzly bear? Seriously?
@CoffeeD_17 жыл бұрын
what would you do if you met one and it were horny for a fight? fight back? go on a tree? water? cause all those are worse ideas than running man
@punchdrunkatheist7 жыл бұрын
Running is the absolute worst thing you can do as it triggers the chase mechanism in the Grizzly's brain. And he will outrun you. This isn't the hardest thing to find as it's literally written thousands of times in books, on trails, etc. If you go anywhere in bear country it's all over the place. If you encounter a grizzly, do not run. Avoid direct eye contact. Walk away slowly, if the bear is not approaching. If the bear charges, stand your ground (you cannot outrun it). Don’t scream or yell. Speak in a soft monotone voice and wave your arms to let the animal know you are human. If you have pepper spray, prepare to use it. If the grizzly charges to within 25 feet of where you’re standing, use the spray. If the animal makes contact, curl up into a ball on your side, or lie flat on your stomach. Try not to panic; remain as quiet as possible until the attack ends. While in bear country, be aware that you may encounter a bear at any time. Be sure the bear has left the area before getting up to seek help. Grylls' suggestions of punching the bear or running will get you more dead than letting the animal attack you. More people survive a grizzly attack by just laying still and letting it happen, than those who try and fight or flee. Grizzlies aren't interested in eating people, they're protecting young, territory, or you've simply startled it. They don't attack for no reason. When they do attack, and they perceive the threat to be dealt with they simply walk away. Laying still will give the grizzly the idea the threat is over hopefully before it kills you. Running is the same as fighting back. It triggers a predatory reaction and it will attack much more violently at the outset. The best thing you can do is avoid bears entirely by having bells or something noisy on you as you hike. Bears will just avoid you all together unless you accidentally come across a den with cubs. At that point you're screwed no matter what you do.
@JustMe-ql9li7 жыл бұрын
Oscar Edmondson yes you are wrong. First of all the term "hater/haters" is not really an insult and you obviously don't know what it means.. The term "hater" basically means that you are hating on someone (most likely someone successful) without any real reasons. In this case, I never have heard of any hate against bear that wasn't either false point blank or came out of someone's mouth who just doesn't know what they're talking about. End of the story

So instead of hating on someone just accept the fact, that he is a great person who achieved much more than the majority of the people will ever achieve. The "reality" of Bear's Reality Show is the same with ALL reality shows: they are TV shows. They involve film crews and camera set ups and retakes and audio looping. Because they are TV shows. I always viewed his program as more instructional than "survival reality" sort of thing. There are far worse frauds in the reality TV genre. Bear has a past most of us can only dream of, he's a well spoken host and he can be self effacing. All I really care about

It aired at the same time as Survivorman and was marketed similarly, but that show actually had a survival expert alone with no crew (he did all his own filming), building his own shelters, making fires, catching/gutting/cooking animals, and sleeping outside for many days on end. Bear Grills is actually and extremely nice guy, who has done so much in his life. He went to Eton which in itself is very impressive, and served for the army as put in this video. You can hate him, by looking at it from a very negative perspective, or try to see the good in him which all of you don’t see through the media. My family and I as-well as some mutual friends, spent a day with Bear and his family. He was a great guy and extremely charismatic. He has got so many stories to tell, and you have to give your hats off for all he has done, his out of the ordinary-adventurous lifestyle and determination to succeed in whichever task he chooses to pursue.

@laughtoohard96557 жыл бұрын
There's no way to specifically know. The Orthopedic Surgeon showed me the x-ray and I could see what he was talking about once it was pointed out. The only item he was certain of is it's old, most likely dating back to my late teens or early 20's. I played ice hockey growing up and through college. It was just assumed the injury occurred in those days and could have been compounded. Essentially the ridges on five of my vertebrae disappeared over the years, which allows them to move around back and forth. If I spend more than ten minutes washing dishes I'm wounded for hours. It's likely all of the jogging I did over the years made it worse.

Are people seriously calling him fake for spending a few nights in a hotel or not completely assembling his own raft!? its a damn tv show, its meant to teach you a few survival skills, but mostly it's just for entertainment. Its obvious he has a whole camera crew with him so why is it such a crime if he gets some help building things and doesn't actually spend the whole time sleeping in the huts he builds. He risks his life to bring us all entertainment, people need to stop being so triggered by stupid things.
@mikelaughlin83867 жыл бұрын
The question should be, could he build that raft if he were really stranded in that situation and didn't have a crew filming it so we could learn survival tips. Answer: I believe he could ... and can do everything else he's demonstrated. Would he always have survived? Possibly not, as he demonstrated some survive or die situations where you'd have to make decisions, such as eating dead meat raw ... but the alternative would have been to just roll up and die.

I spent one year in Antarctica with the U.S. Navy, did winter survival on the Ross Ice Shelf, turned down civilian communications to go back down...no regrets...came home to Michigan, got married...my children are very successful...a Doctor in Physics and 2 Registered Nurses...no regrets whatsoever... Maybe I could have been a survivor man, but like I said no regrets...

bullying usually destroys people’s self esteem and most stay that way. Celebrities can’t be celebrities if they don’t have any self-esteem.

Nothing wrong sleeping in a motel after survival shows. The show is teaching about how to survive tricks. He already did it for real countless time. Getting thru SAS selection is already tough. Being a reserved is a big achievement. He's a little guy with a big heart
