Icheb was killed because the actor had sought to reprise the role in what is now known as Renegades. Paramount got a bit ruthless in their grip on IP in recent years. It was a different actor playing the part in Picard.

Capt. Spock’s death was the most devastating to fans at the time. Capt. Kirk’s death wouldn’t have been divisive had the way he was killed in Generations. Even Ronald D. Moore who co wrote the film felt a more deserving finish would’ve been for Jim to have been KIA on the bridge of the Enterprise (perhaps in the battle with the Duras Sisters). The Emissary had the most tragic death, arguably, as he was KIA almost immediately after the Federation/Klingon/Romulan victory against the Dominion.

I think James Kirk comes back again but only in the novels as part of him still existed in the Nexus world. The producers should have given the actress for Jadzia a raise, she was a great actress for DS9, and women were often underpaid of some shows.

He wasn't bored of it per se - he just felt he couldn't play an ageless android anymore properly as he was getting older. Which is why in Picard, they de-aged him as Data.
