What are your thoughts on what these actors dealt with?

" These are the voyages" reminds me of those old Popeye cartoons where they use an older cartoon as frame work for a newer one when he's talking about his past. As if the whole show took place on the holodeck.

I agree with Garrett Wang. I mean, seven years as an *ensign*, really? He was treated as a member of Janeway's senior staff, and should have been at least a full lieutenant by the end of the show's run.

Generations is my second favourite movie after TWOK and Kirk is my favourite character in Trek. I always find it more realistic when these larger than life characters like in real life pass away not in a big explosion but in a small or tragically mundane way. I also love the Spocks Brain episode because it's just dumb fun. There are plenty of worse episodes in that season that was equally as dumb but boring and not funny.
@timmyfountain60512 жыл бұрын
Completely agree with you. The mundane 'normal' death of Kirk was well done, appropriate and fitting. It could so easily have gone way too OTT.

"TNG"'s Riker and Troi interfered with the last episode in the 4th season. Trip DID NOT die. He chose to fake his death so he could undergo a new mission to infiltrate the Romulans. He rounded up Dr. Phlox, Cpt. Archer, and Lt. Reed to help him in this deception but didn't tell Cdr. T'Pol for some reason. Fortunately, he gave Archer a note to give T'Pol to read during the Cpt.'s speech. She gets to meet Trip and learn a part of his plans-that he was actually dressed as a Romulam (not as a Vulcan as she thought), but all this was denied due to that ending by the holoprogramme. I ended up fast-fowarding past any scenes with the non-sequitur lines and scenes by the "TNG" cast, but it doesn't restore the scenes that were cut put just to end the series. That goes for the Jake-Nog story that interrupted the novel "The Good That Men Do". I felt that the "DS9" story was nothing more than another interference. They should have let "Enterprise" stand alone. The novel told a better story. Otherwise, they should've ended the story after "Demons" and gone on with season 5.
@virginiaconnor83502 жыл бұрын
I wonder how he would've felt if "DS9" killed off "TNG", thereby killing off CE Miles O'Brien. Fortunately, that didn't happen as I liked "TNG" better than I liked "DS9".

Kirks first death at the beginning of Generations was way better. They should have left it at that. At the end of the film they could have made it so that he had to make a choice of either staying in the 24th century or go back in time to save the Enterprise, and he choses the to go back only with no nexis to save him.

With respect to Garrett Wang, I have to disagree. The episode of Voyager known as "Deadlock", (good episode btw) clearly shows Harry Kim die and replaced by a duplicate. That means he must start from scratch on a different Voyager as an ensign. That was near the end of Season 2, so he had more like five years...😁

@@billsilver6429 The Alt factor was actually done by a good director and actor was good and had some effect but something happened in editing or the story was just a mess as they were always rewriting and rushing and limited money. Unlike TNG which is arguably the best from 3-7 and 2 and 1 has some good stories and totally awful or childish, OS had 3 seasons which for ME, seemed roughly the same n watchability and most say the third is weak and running out of cash, but i like the third for a group of episodes. Voyager had a half weak cast and a second officer who really was impotent even though the actor is quite strong and could have been great if allowed to be dominant but TNG had the captain stay on the ship and Frakes could be dominant but Mulgrew always led away missions leaving Beltran with no way to take command except in episodes he could . Wishy washy ensign and not lovable vulcan and toores and Paris were good , just sort of very top run bit like OS with Shatner where TNG as spread out with likable chemistry with the actors Frakes and sirtis and Sirtis and Stewart being both British. TNG had 181 almost all good and no total duds which is pretty amazing. Voyager most we good are pretty good.

Better Enterprise than Voyager or Discovery. Even Ronald D. Moore thought Jim Kirk should’ve been KIA in a battle on the bridge of the Enterprise. In the novelization of Generations, in its behind the scenes section, its revealed that Rick Berman had Kirk killed , lamely reasoning it would’ve been ‘silly’ to keep him alive in the 24th century. Dumb.
