I always liked the little quirk of robert downey jr always seeming to eat something whilst in a scene, because it also helps sell that he is just another human being. One of the things that helps make a character relatable in films is to have them visibly eat. So his eating habit makes his characters a bit more relatable as we register the fact that they also need food as well.

Tony Stark isn't the only MCU resident who's frequently seen eating. Thor is a serious contender for the title of hungriest Avenger and by Endgame, the characters' eating habits have become scripted plot points (Tony is more interested in a quiet family dinner than inventing time travel, Hulk is comfortable eating pancakes in a public diner but also selfless enough to give Ant-man his last taco. Thor is depressed and seems to drink instead of eating).
@NeoG3nesis2 жыл бұрын
@@Dhakadice that is true, but robert downey junior kinda started it about character's eating when it wasn't in the script for him to be eating something. He cruises into the parking lot on his Vespa, and as he rolls to a stop, he pops the clutch not realizing it's still in gear. He and the Vespa then nose dive into what appears to be a cigarette machine. Not scripted, but picture perfect for the character.

Regarding the Overlook hotel, there has been a theory put forward addressing all the oddities surrounding the Shining and the hotel layout as well as what appear to be continuity issues throughout the film. The simple explanation is that the hotel is an entity unto itself and is responsible for all of these questions. No, the theory somebody came up with (I think only in the last few years) is called the "Wendy Theory". It is highly compelling in that everything that is out of place is because the film is being presented to the viewer through two points of view at any given time; Wendy's perspective and what is really happening. The theory goes on to show that Wendy is actually swirling down the drain of insanity and that any supernatural occurrences whereby ghosts are seen or the blood waves or Danny allegedly seeing something via his "Shining", are examples of Wendy's perspective deluded by her growing insanity. There is a video (here on youtube) that has all the details and is really fascinating. It answers any and all questions that I have ever had where things don't make sense. I highly recommend watching the Shining then reviewing this video. It's impressive.

About the Overlook, the hotel in The Shining. In other King works buildings do in fact change their own layouts, even being referred to as "tumorous". A few that spring to mind are the titlular Rose Red and Black House and the Agincourt Hotel in The Talisman. So, given the source, while The Shining doesn't really indicate there's anything about the Overlook that does that physically (it is, after all, just a severely haunted hotel that drives people insane), it's not outside the realm of possibility that it could. Especially once it gets "powered up" by Tony and the formerly "just in your head" shenanigans become real. I think I would even argue that it would make sense.

put an average man and woman alone with nothing to aid them in a room, one of them wants to rape the other, which one has no chance of succeeding and which one has all the advantages of making it happen? that is why. the reason why girls thirsting after guys does not equal guys thirsting after girls is because guys have been predatory in society and woman prey for a very long time, and now woman are bolder about their lust and guys appreciate being admired... obviously i agree that neither party should touch the other without consent, but there is a reason behind why it doesn't have the same reaction, and eventually after woman's boldness phase is no longer new hopefully we'll reach that sweet spot where there is equality in the reactions to it... however even then... when you are being bullied by someone who you can't stand up to if you wished it, and being bullied by a person you can easily put a stop to and they know it too, is a different story... equality does not mean man start giving birth and woman have equal strength to man... you can't change biology they are still different genders, but both should get equal human rights, i don't see why that doesn't compute with pple these days! tired of seeing this stupid comments, and woman's chest and man's chest do not equal the same lvl of taboo in the society atm unfortunately. braless woman and shirtless guys don't have the same reaction either. so touching a man's chest is not the same as touching a woman's chest, it's reality face it... guys don't feel sexually about their chest the same lvl as woman do. but the reason to your wrong comparison aside, what she did there was obviously wrong and i hope the guy truly didn't mind it, otherwise it would ruin the scene for me entirely.

The error is with the Dark Knight at 11:14ish, Joker's truck is clearly seen slamming into the PASSENGER SIDE of the police armored vehicle. Yet in the very next seen, it shows the armored vehicle crashing into the water PASSENGER SIDE FIRST, from what could only be caused by a DRIVERS SIDE COLLISION. All momentum is going from left to right when the vehicle crashes, or from drivers side to passenger side, but it's impossible from Jokers truck hitting it because his truck came from the passenger side, which shows there's only water on that side.

16:40 It's called a Big Wheel, not a tricycle. Recently it dawned on me that the Overlook Hotel itself has no reason to exist. The real life hotel they used for exteriors was (and actually still is) a ski resort. That is its purpose. That is why somebody went to the trouble and the expensive of building it. But the Overlook is not a ski resort. It shuts down in the winter time. There's no indication that it was ever any other way and there's no other attraction that it offers convenient access to. The hotel is a destination unto itself. People just travel way out of their way to stay at it because it's there, I guess. And for some reason, out of all the wide open spaces that no one was using in the middle of nowhere, it just _had_ to be built on an Indian burial ground, as if those are hard to avoid.
@billyboblillybob3443 жыл бұрын
I think it was a built as a place catering to the very wealthy at the time (early 20th century). This is before Hollywood or California in general becoming a destination. Avoiding Native American burial grounds was likely never a consideration at all.

@@billyboblillybob344 When they're walking across the parking lot, Ullman tells Jack and Wendy that they had to repel several Indian attacks during the hotel's construction (between 1907 and 1909), so we know that they were aware of the issue. Seems like that would pretty much have to be a consideration. I mean, at the very least it would be an extra added expense for security. Construction takes a long time, even now. Just leveling off the ground and firming up the future foundation tends to take up the majority of that time. Plus, ya know, Indian attacks weren't exactly commonplace anymore in 1907. Wounded Knee kinda brought that whole era to an end like 17 years prior. One would imagine such a sudden resurgence would generate some pretty significant negative press.

There’s a documentary about Kubrick that details a lot of theories as to why the shining was shot the way it was as it was considered a poor adaptation of the book by king himself. Not a bad film - just not similar to the book. The documentary is called Room 237 and the theory about the lay out comes up. The idea is that Kubrick was a genius - there’s no way he didn’t know that structurally it was impossible and that this was done on purpose to put the viewer subliminally on edge the entire time. He was apparently really into subliminals and used those techniques to try to add onto the horror in such a way that you wouldn’t even be able to pick up on it consciously. Great documentary if you love the shining/Kubrick.

Some times the pieces can be bigger than normal, case in point. Gave my dutch dentist a heart attack when he held a massive needle in front of my face knowing I had PTSD when it came/comes to needles, after that he wouldn't see me anymore; which I didn't mind. I never wanted to see him in the first place. 5 years later I was having an ice lolly and after the first bite into it I felt something hanging on my BB front teeth, both of them broke a the half way mark. Coming up for 45, in 2000 I had an Apicoectomy on the 2 front teeth (Whish I looked up what it was before going, was not expecting to be away when someone slit my gums with a blade and gave me 13 needles, while my heart rate doubled/Tripled in speed because of the PTSD) 2015 I had 13 teeth pulled at the same time. (They were bad and were causing a lot of infections) It was supposed to be general anesthetic, but lucky for me it knocked me out. The next one was delayed during the pandemic, but in 2021 I had all remaining bottom teeth and some at the top (leaving 4 caps and a bad tooth all at the top front) which came to a total of 9 extractions. I was told that it would be general anesthetic and that I would be awake through it, so I made sure not to sleep for a good 50 hours before the appointment was due, and knocked myself out during the procedure.

My personal favorite is the end of The Graduate. The second unit director forgot to call cut on the scene, so it ends with Dustin Hoffman and Katherine Ross slowly dropping character and looking confused and nervous,

In the shining Jack isn't the crazy one it's his wife but the movie makes you think it's him losing his mind. Proof of this is everytime he acts crazy the hotel is different from what you saw before. It's because she is hallucinating the scene.

Not a grab. But none the less, if a man did it, it’s sexual assault. Unwanted/ uninvited physical touch in a sexual manner.

You didn't mention a stormtrooper hotting his head in Star Wars. Also in Captain America Civil War Paul Rudd says "Thanks for thanking of me" which probably wasn't the line.

11:49 If you can see the red light from the side, then where is the green light from the front? Usually if you can see a street light shining as bright as that red does, it's usually facing you. I even think it could be the case when filmed that the wrong lights were on at the time the cycle passed, so they probably erased the green light and put emphasis on the red light.

It's a Wonderful Life the party at the Bailey house for George's returning WW2 war hero kid brother Harry is winding down. Despondent George heads outside to get some air. A moment later his drunken Uncle Billy (Thomas Mitchell) strolls up to George weaving and babbling happily. He asks George to point him in the right direction and wanders off camera singing. A few seconds later a loud cacophony is heard followed by the line.."I'm all right I'm all right!" NONE of this was in the script. A stagehand carrying an armload of film cans near the set dropped the whole lot. Mitchell's improv was an act of genius. He was a playwright as well as an amazing character actor and it showed in this scene. All true. Go top this one.

I feel Peggy touching Steve's chest! I once did that in a grocery store! I had never seen a guy I'd spoken to many times before with his arms bared! I didn't even know I was going to run my hands down his arm and ask, "WHERE WERE YOU HIDING THOSE?!" I shocked us both! Thank goodness he was flattered and didn't flatten me! Still, NEVER doing that again! Still embarrassed!

Re the Overlook Hotel: Note the Stephen King himself supports the interpretation that the hotel has a surrealistic aspect in Billy Summers, his very much grounded in reality novel about a hitman's last job. (Grounded in reality except in two small scenes about three-quarters of the way through involving the Overlook....)

I didn't see in the comments but in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory it is specifically established that Charlie gets a single Wonka bar on his birthday each year, so the bar he gets is not as narrated "what is probably his first ever Wonka bar" (starting 14:57)

As much as I love Johnny Depp, I have to agree with you. JD's Willy Wonka was almost nightmare-inducing while Gene Wilder was more whimsical. But I really wanted to like the JD rendition that I watched it twice to see if I could get into it..... nope.

Thank you for this interesting video! Pre-dating Downey in Iron Man, Brad Pitt is eating in almost every scene of Ocean’s Eleven. And, if you watch his hands, he always changes the movements & nuances from character to character. Check out Fight Club. So good.

They do actually mention the food in Ocean’s Eleven in a commentary. Brad Pitt said that his character would always be super busy with planning, that he had to eat on the go. Amazing the thought out behind some choices!

I thought that most people were already aware that the Shining was actually filmed in 2 separate hotels. The one at the base of Mt Hood, Timberline Lodge (which I've actually been in) and the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park Colorado; also some other properties in Estes Park. Seems an odd piece to add to a Looper video.
