A monster calls is genuinely one of the best movies I've ever seen. A pitch perfect story about a boy going through the cycles of grief. A harrowing tale of how people deal with grief, and how blinded we are when we suffer it. It is a work of art, and I have yet to meet someone who wasn't emotionally gutted by its melancholic and remarkably poignant finale; the first time I've ever seen a work of fiction capture such an aspect of the human condition with such poetic clarity.
