As someone who actually really likes Loot Crate, let me say this... I COMPLETELY understand where people are coming from in their hate. Look, I dig this stuff. I got my friend hooked on Loot Crate too, and he digs it. We enjoy the randomness of it, the fun aspect of opening and seeing what you got, and the fact is some of the stuff I've gotten so far has been pretty nice (I loved the tie this month, the shirt was well made, last month's tetris stickers have gotten a ton of use...) But MAN Loot Crate is not for everybody. It is very much a niche audience. It's a niche that is big enough for Loot Crate to be profitable and successful, but it's a niche. And that niche does not necessarily overlap with Ashens fan base as much as it would other fan bases. For example, at PAX this year there were a ton of people who were at the Loot Crate booth. That seems to be more the fan base that they're going for. So yeah, if you don't like Loot Crate... you don't like it. There's nothing to say about that. I don't think people should be going out of their way to talk about how MUCH they hate it, but that's youtube for you. PS that ghostbusters door hanger from last month is still shit.

If they were more consistent with the quality of some of the products and less repetitive with the gags (like the god awful pins), I would have stayed subscribed. I was given a 3-month last Christmas. From what I remember, the first box was awesome and had some stuff I used throughout the year, then one of the other boxes basically had 4 big things in it that seemed cheaper and less useful than the box before it. The third box was ok but had an awesome t-shirt. One of the t-shirts seemed VERY cheap with the logo attached to it while another t-shirt seemed like a legitimate one I would get from Hot Topic. The Funko figures got annoying to me, which took away the excitement for what I think I was gonna get next. I was anticipating another bloody Funko figure rather than anticipating what exclusive things would be in the next box. In the end, it just felt like I was hoarding a bunch of stuff I would never use (minus the Titanfall t-shirt, which I still use today). And I still have those figures laying around, but they're just simply in the way, and I don't have a shelf for them (yet). Now, my entertainment for seeing "what to get" is satisfied by Ashen's videos, so a BIG thanks to him for that. It's a wonderful idea and a great thing to try out, but the excitement diminishes quickly, and it only takes one bad box to make you wonder why you're still subscribed to it. (and damn these lootcrate logos on EVERYTHING. That would kind of ruin my motivation to wear some of this stuff in public. People asked where I got the Titanfall shirt (without a Lootcrate logo) and I would just say that I got it from a Lootcrate. That's how the message should get across.) Alas, it's a good thing for some people, and a bad thing for others, but if someone's questioning whether to get one or not, they should watch Ashen's videos first, then make the decision themselves regardless of what some of the hateful comments say.

That's cool, it's just like Cy Pony said, the quality of the crates are inconsistent. Also most of the merchandise is very "geeky". It lacks style, and a a random box that didn't stuff its logo on every piece of the product would be a 100% better. When you get down to it, people who collect things for a hobby probably wouldn't be interested in loot crate, and it's because the actual product you get is just a box of junk, whether you actually like the stuff in it or not it's just kind of tat. That being said Ashens videos for it are great since he actually gives a real opinion over the product, the ones I hate are like two best friends podcast who promote it in full despite its shoddy quality (such as last months).

In the UK there's a shop called Forbidden planet. It sells this kind of stuff. And for the cost of a crate, you could get double the stuff (thanks to huge shipping cost of a crate) and you get to pick out things you like! If you want randomness, they've got blind bags of nifty things, so you at least can get marvel stuff if you're a marvel fan etc.

There's a sketch cover at my local comic shop that's selling for $160. My comic shop was also one of the places that got it's own exclusive cover.

For every four people that sign up via his link he get's a free loot crate. That goes for everyone that has a subscription with Loot crate. If only a 100 people (out of the ~250k that watch his video's) have signed up, he gets them for free for over 2 years. So Loot crate isn't actually actively sending him the crate to promote or so. Apart from him having a "discount" code. But that code gives only a 10% discount and the default code on the website gives 3 dollars off.

The reason Lootcrate is so liberal with their logo is not only for brand recognition, but to discourage resale of their products. This is also the reason their perceived quality is going down, when it's an unfortunate fact that some unscrupulous people will subscribe to Lootcrate only to illegally sell Lootcrate products for a profit. By reducing the amount of market-soluble items contained in each month's shipment, as well as adding more easily recognizable banding, potential cyber criminals will be less likely to commit fraud and larceny using Lootcrate products. The wallet is likely Tyvex, made by Dupont, and it does last pretty long, it is some type of plastic. I had one for several months and used it constantly. PS it's the exposure, not the white balance!

In regard to your auto white balance, try activating it when there's a white page in front of the camera and then remove the page once white balance is done auto adjusting. That's how it works on most cameras.

The camera issue isn't white balance, it's exposure. Set that to auto, and it should be fine.

I found there was a Groupon for Lootcrate, so I decided to check what January's theme was. When I saw it was "Rewind," I wasn't too interested, because most of the stuff from the late 80's and early 90's people seem to be incredibly nostalgic about didn't appeal to me. I never watched nor was interested in Voltron, Transformers, Ninja Turtles, Star Wars, or anything of the sort. Nope, I was into Tiny Toon Adventures, Garfield and Friends, Bobby's World, Eek! the Cat, Two Stupid Dogs, and Rugrats. How come their nostalgic callbacks are so much rarer? DuckTales was the only comedy cartoon during that time to have gotten a resurgence since. I suppose I was that type of kid that the Tom and Jerry Movie was meant to appeal to. I hope these aren't shipped via USPS. They frequently ruin packages delivered to me, or they go missing altogether. There's no accountability, and there is literally no one to send a complaint to when my stuff arrives damaged. The fake NES cartridge would've been so much better if it was an actual game. Come on, people. There are officially licensed soap bars meant to look exactly like classic NES cartridges and controllers (as well as a number of other games and controllers up to the Wii Remote).

I picked up one of those NES cartridge cassette-men at VidCon from these guys a while back, got a Rygar referenced one, sans Zapper. Star Wars #1 is actually a half-way decent comic, actually. I think you'll enjoy it. Though for some reason the artist can't quite get Luke Skywalker to look like Mark Hamill in every panel he's in.

The game cartridge figurine is a spoof of 'Mars Attacks'. Other people got a spoof of 'The Fifth Element". To me they seem even stranger than the usual square-head figurines.
