@@Shauma_llama yeah all the contents of the chest were things that were sold to him in a previous episode - it was about a poor fruit merchant being forced to buy useless and expensive items, when all he wanted was for the adventure to buy an apple to help feed his starving children. Then he was forced to buy a skull for 50,000 gold. He did eventually sell an apple for a piece of copper though.

So the merchant hide all this stuff in a chest but had a level 0 hiding ability. He is better off without that wife.
