Eminem is probably the biggest gateway rapper for a lot of people tho. He probably guided more people to rap than anyone else that wouldve never listened to rap. He said something like on the Encore/Curtains Down song.

When I was introduced to Hip Hop, it was LL Cool J, Meastro Fresh Wes, Tone Loc, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Pac, Biggie Young MC. Then later Digital Underground, Naughty By Nature, Snap. When Eminem first came out, I first thought "Great, another Vanilla Ice! He won't last long! " I didn't get into his catalog until 8 Mile came on and been listening to him and watch reacters listening to Em. And nearly only Em that you have to listen to his tracks multiple times to get everything he says! L Jamar says black people does not listen to Eminem. But greats like Cube, LL, The Game, Common, Rakhim, DMX, Redman, Trech, Busta, Fat Joe, Kanye, Lil Wayne and others had given Eminem props and consider him as one of the greats!

Lmfao, Lord Jamar never said "blacks as a whole", he said "MOST blacks don't listen to Eminem" (which is correct). And those black rappers you named is just a small percentage, don't be fooled by that shit! I'm willing to bet they don't even listen to Eminem like that (trust me), they just gave him props as a someone who can put words together, 🤣. But that still doesn't take away from what Lord Jamar said about Eminem. 👍🏾

@@thasilentreactor9671 I respect your opinion, bur I don't think he hates white people on a personal level. But from a cultural and historical point of view than maybe that is true. I personaly think eminem is one of the, if not the the most skilled mc ever. And he has used it excellently to express his own individual traumas and what not. So I have no problem with eminem being placed among the goats. But I think jamar is afraid that the orgin and what hiphop was a expression of, will get lost. Just like rockmusic came to lose it's orgin in blues more and more over time. I don't know the man... @kh7688

The difference is Vlad has been deliberately using Black men and women, in order to get views. He brings in people and asks them loaded questions, which lead them to give out information unwittingly. Don't get me wrong, those that appear on his show are incredibly stupid. They should be wise to his ulterior motives by now. He is clearly exploiting Black people and their struggles. Eminem on the other hand is grateful to be a part of the culture. He has elevated the genre and made it palatable for a worldwide audience. He is chief among the people, responsible for making hip hop the world's premier music genre. He always praises the Black men and women who paved the way. He reaches out and works with many of the greats and he's introduced us to artists who have gone on to become legend's in their own right.

Jamar said he’s “Good” with Em and it sounds like he still had more in his chest. They say Truth hurts, but given the circumstances, it goes both ways. 1st one is that, YES, Hip Hop is 100% black music and no denying that. 2nd one, Em is recognised not only by his influence/record sales/ fame but also from his peers (mainly Black rappers) as one of the greatest. Em is probably sitting on tons of money but he still does what he loves and cherish not like the rest of the rappers and again mainly Black rappers, they get tons of money and bounce.

I can see a lil bit why Lord Jamar feels that way, in a way. However he's not making any sense. Activities in life is not supposed to be based on color. You either have it or you don't. Caucasian people created Rock N Roll and you have black people who love Rock N Roll (including me) and somebody is inspired by something. Also what Lord Jamar fails to realize while yes black people did create Hip Hop, still everybody is opinionated on everything. Even the "people" Lord Jamar talks about, that made Eminem the: "Elvis Of Hip Hop." That's their opinion, it's not facts because its always going to be somebody who disagrees and that they have their opinions of who is the best of hip hop. And that's why I said that there's no such thing as "THE" King Of Hip Hop" because it's to many good rappers and artists in the world, so its hypocritical to use the word "THE." Now there's a such thing as "A" King Of Hip Hop, we are all kings and Queens period and royalty is always passed on for those that paved the way in the timeline. And Eminem is definitely "A" King Of Hip Hop 💯💯💯

If 75% of people don't know them it's not cuz they don't know true hip hop. It's probably cuz they just weren't a big deal to go world wide or even nation wide... now everyone knows big, pac, Rakim, nas, Jay, ll cool J, pun, em, run dmc, nwa, etc etc.. cuz they're icons in hip hop..you gonna say that that isn't enough to know hip hop? So you're saying that to truly know hip hop, you gotta know a group that only 2% of the population has heard of? Sounds like twisted logic.. in my book, if you know hip hop greats but not someone like bran nubian until you hear lord jamar going off on vlad TV, it means your group was never good enough to grab the attention of the world, never made it big, and never made much of an impact... record sales matter they are a part of what makes you great.. if no one is buying your records and your voice isn't spread throughout the world or anywhere outside of your hood, how are you a goat? It's misguided to say that record sales aren't a part of the criteria.. now they aren't the whole criteria, but they're a part of it..now there's a lot of underrated rappers who are great.. royce da 5'9, Busta rhymes.. they're known but don't get the hype they deserve... but the world knows them cuz they have a legacy in hip hop. Been listening to Brand Nubian since like freshman year in high school right around the time MMLP2 dropped and ya know I can safely say Eminem is still more relevant in any conversation relating hip hop than Lord Jamar is as a solo act, Grand Puba is a legend himself from his solo projects (Reel to Reel & 2000) alone and that’s not including his stuff with Brand Nubian and the overall contribution he made in hip hop. Same with Sadat X that dude is the voice is of many 90s hip hop songs and that in a way made him a legend too- but Lord Jamar? He was always better when he had someone more lyrical or charismatic somewhat holding up theirs and his end of the bargain, Jamar was apart of a legendary group that hadn’t released anything in almost a decade and a group that hadn’t dropped anything truly legendary since the early 90s. Jamar kinda reminds me of some of the lesser members of Wu Tang Clan just sorta clutching on the coat tail of whatever they were holding onto in the past but at least the weaker members of Wu Tang Clan can say they dropped some sorta gem or cult classic while going solo. Jamar can’t say the same thing sadly.

ALL people. Not one race and for damn sure not one color.

What has lord jamar done for hip hop to keep saying that em is a guest, like he needs a pass or a ticket to get in and continue to occupy the "house of hip hop"? Em has done way more in hip hop than lord jamar ever has or ever will do, so why is still the judge of this? All lord jamar is remembered for is his critique on em's place in hip hop.. I don't even know his music, never heard a single song from him and never knew who he was until I first heard him going off about em on VLAD TV...if no one knew who you were before that then your status in hip hop is far beneath em's, regardless if you're black and he's white... lord jamar is in em's house thinking eminem is in his lol

The more you listen to this dude talk about the culture the more you pickup the vibe he's just mad a white dude Is as praised as he Is. Dig even deeper MOST of the pioneers legends goats producers etc that vouch for emonem as being one of the greatest lyricists ever are black. But when you bring this up to Jamar he says it's cuz they corny n****s . I grew up in the hood , have had more black friends than white ones my entire life and we've had this discussion before . Most of them said they don't bump em. Cuz they can't relate to his songs which is fine but every one will say he's still one of the greatest rappers ever . Than Jamar will take it to " how many black folks listen to eminem in their car " and each time he says this it makes me laugh . So your gonna base goat status on off you van listen to him in the car ? There's a mood for every rapper in the game . But this guy is drunk to say that we, black people, are the ones to decide who is the GOAT because we created that shit. If we think so, we might not be allowed to speak and say who is the GOAT in basket-ball (MJ, KB, LJ), football, soccer (Pelé), boxing (Ali, Tyson, Frazier, Foreman, Holyfield), judo (Teddy Rinner), MMA (Anderson Silva, Jon Jones) because they had been created by white & asian. I'm gonna say this right now, Lord Jamar is a clown. Talking about how black people don't listen to Eminem, bruv African countries listen to him, such as South Africa, Nigeria, and Zibawawe. A lot of hit artists today listen to his music in their past such as jcole, Kendrick Lamar, cordae, and many more. Em's been through struggles Jamar needs to understand that, he didn't have the benefits of being white. Em was poor, bullied, and been through abuse. Lord Jmar needs to face the fact that Em's the GOAT, not because of his skin but because of his widespread influence, lyrical ability, and his f u attitude is what attracted a lot of people.
