‼️One thing that is very important scince many people get it wrong is: The charm is not mindcontrol, but instead calms the charmed one down and lets them forget about painfull and selfdestructive emotions memories and raises their loyalty to miquella due to him being some sort of messiah who forgives everyone and brings peace. Reason 1: Nothing ever defines or explains the charm as "mindcontrol". Ansbach only speaks of that miquella "shrives clean the heart of men" (shrive means to listen to someones confession and grand them forgiveness, mostly done by priests). He never says that the charm forces you to do anything. Reason 2: The npcs dont describe the charm as mind control once the spell broke. They all dont make a huge fuss about as you would expect if they were used as puppets and instead talk as if they only regained their emotions about something negative and harmful. Leda for example killed all other needle knights due to her not trusting others, but she didnt kill anyone once she was charmed. She says so herself that she trusted people more while she was charmed but now that the spell is broken begins to kill the others too. She feels paranoia again. morn was actually happy while he was charmed due to him forgetting the about pain he felt after being abondoned by marika. He finds a sort of new family in the companions of miquella, but he gets depressed once the charm broke. He feels the pain again. hornsent disliked the people of the lands between even while being charmed but still has a soft side which we can see if we give him the soup from his home. He gets filled with hate and revenge once the spell broke and tries to kill messmer and hates others again. he feels the loss again. Ansbach is sadend by the death of mohg, but still moves on for the greater good of others. He was feared soldiers in moghs army and killed countless innocent people, but acts now as a mentor for the other companions. He however remembers the guilt for failing his lord once the spell broke. His armor even tells us that there is no justice in killing miquella, but he still cant let go due to his feeling of guilt. he is even surprised if we help him and questions our senity, suggesting that it is unreasonable to go against miquella. He feels the guilt of failing his lord again. Reason 3: It doesnt make sense for mohg to still follow his own goals if the charm realy was mindcontrol. Just as you pointed out. Mohg clearly still follows his own ambitions. We know this because he talks about his own mohggwyn dynasty and not miquellas age of compassion, he also tries to share his blood with miquella, who rejects him ( based on mohgs remembrance). Mohg and his follower still believe that their own age will come and even claimed noble status in this new dynasty (based on the sanguine nooble set description). This new age is with 100% certainty not the age of compassion as this age they are talking is based on the outer god of the formless mother who has nothing to do with miquellas new age. The age of compassion is based on miquellas crown of light ( we know this from the item descrition) However all begins to make sense if the spell is not mindcontroll as explained ealier. Mohg kidnapped miquella for his own goal as he needed an empyrien to start his new dynasty. He tries to corrupt miquella with blood offerings as blood is the domain of the formless mother and mohg. This is also supported by mohg talisman description. Miquella however is not helpless, he knew that mohg was planning to kidnapp him and used this oppertunity for his plan. Miquella needs a vessel for radahn and needs to acces the shadow lands as this is the place where the souls of the dead go (based on the tower description in the dlc) and where the gate of divinity is located. Mohg is the perfect oppertunity as he has both omenblood ,which would grand him acces to the shadow lands ( the land of the omen/ hornsent) and is a suitible vessel for his consort radahn. Miquella charmed mohg so that he wouldnt get suppiscous of him by suppressing the feelings of doubt and distrust so that he wouldnt intevine in his plan similar to ansbach who noticed and tried to kill miquella. mohg was oblivios to this as he is clearly still confinced that he will get his dynasty. This is the charm Ansbach talked about, mohg was unable to detect miquellas plan. This being said, mohg is a huge piece of sht and not innocent in the slitest. He killed countless innocent people as sacrifices to the formless mother ( we can see these corpses scatered around Mohggwyn palast) heck even on his spear are dead people. He died due to his own hubris and greed. He deserved his fate. Explination for radahn and miquella: Miquella wants to create a world free of suffering, the age of compassion. Miquella in the base game is descripted as a kind and caring person and he still is in the dlc. We know from the crown of light that miquella (his crown) would have been the fundament of this age, not the elden ring. Miquella also wants to stop the influence of the outer gods on the lands between. In order to start a new age, one needs a god and a king, for example marika/radagon and godfrey. Miquella is an empyrian, that means that he can become a god. Only empyrians aka malenia, ranni and miquella can become true gods (all the other omes like mohg and midra are only lords, never gods). He however also needs a king consort. Here is where radahn comes into place. But why radahn? There are three reasons why: 1. Radahn was a kind person. We know from consort radahns remembrance that miquella made the hearfelt wish that radahn would be his consort. The text tells us that it was because miquella saw in radahn a kind person (his horse, saving selia protecting the world from astel etc) 2. There is not realy another option. Every other demigod is either crazy dead or has their own goals. Godwyn is dead too. Why not malenia? Most likely because she is 1. His twin sister 2. An empyrian cannot become king consort themself 3. She is cursed with scarlet rot. 3. He is simply in love with radahn. The remembrance specificly uses the words "heartfelt wish". Why else would fromsoft use these specific words, when it comes to marriage? Miquella talks very highly when he adresses radahn. We can also see that miquella embraces radahn in the death animation as they both die. Miquella made a vow with radahn and radahn agreed. We know this from his name "promised consort radahn". And now from the official lore book too. That means radahn is NOT being controlled, he shares miquellas goal. The vow goes something like this: Malenia will grant radahn a warriors death (the battle of caelid). After that will miquella revieve radahn inside a vessel in the shadow lands at the gate of divinity so that he can become a god and radahn his consort. Why would radahn agree? Reasons: 1. Radahn is, while still being a general, a kind ruler. He idolyses godfrey. Godfrey too suppresed his warrior side to become a better ruler for his people. Radahn wants to follow his example. 2. Radah is NOT loyal to the golden order. He only praises his father radagon and godfrey, not the golden order itself. We know this because morgott calls all the demigods traitors, this includes radahn. Why would morgott, the biggest golden order fanboy, call radahn a traitor if he was loyal to the order? We also know from the intro that morgott and radahn fought against eachother. 3. Radahn yearns for a warrior death and he needs to die in order to travel to the shadow lands where the gate of divinity is located. We know from the great tower in the dlc, that this is the place where all souls travel, this includes radahn. So he chose a warrior death from the only person who could match him in combat, malenia. This is why he spares her in the trailor. But why is radahn in this rotted state and why is he still clinging to life? The reason is because the duell failed. Malenia was not able to defeat radahn. She had to use her hated scarlet rot to regain the upper hand. The sacrlet aeonia wasnt planned by miquella, it was a last resort from malenia to complet her promise. This is why the destruction seems so out of character for miquella, because it was never planned to happen. Miquella tried all his life to heal his sister from the sacrelt rot and seal it with his needle, so it is unreaseble to asume that he planned to use it. We also know from freyja that miquella searched the battle field for survivors and healed them from thw scarlet rot. He tried to save as many as possible, he also later created the needle knights whos task was it to travel the land and heal those afflicted. This ia why their ash of war curse all status affects. But even the scarlet rot wasnt enough to kill radahn, it only destroyed his mind. But why does he still refuse to die? Simple, the promise wasnt completted. And as long as he doesnt get his warrior death will he keep on living. He also needs to hold the stars until someone finally completes the promise. This is why the radahn festival was founded, to find a warrior who is strong enough to kill him. Malenia is uncouncios inside the haligtree after the bloom, so she cant finish him. Until this the plan cant continue, because his soul isnt in the shadow land yet. However after we kill him can the plan continue. This is why radahn fights along side miquella, the vow has been honored. We can hear this in game to in thw introcutscene of the bossfight.

I always believed he had many charms set at once, the charm for the tarnished that told them to seek out miquella, and the charm for the promised consort/mohg. So miquellas vow could come to being
