Take a read. Tolkien is the father of the fantasy genre. Not likely what you'll expect--like a historian who has elves, goblins, and hobbits in his long history book.

If you like the fantasy genre, give the movies a chance. To me, it is the best world created in this genre. Hopefully, you may find it this way too. If not, you still have a great movie to enjoy.

I'm not much for reading and the lord of the rings is hard if you have a short attention span. But if you can sit still for a while, I think it's one of the greatest works literary art, there are layers in it, when you read it once you can get one perspective, you read it again and it changes a little. Like I said I'm not much of a reader, and I'm a millennial with a shorter attention span, if you watch the movies which are absolutely worth it especially the extended editions you'll get a sense of the books, Peter Jackson did very well at bringing the intended feelings by J.R.R. Tolkien through into a movie, but it still can't compare, maybe try a audio book, but if you have time they are honestly very very worth it!

Beautiful! That was a well thought out arrangement. The wind passing through harp strings is one of the most magical things I have ever heard. Mine is sitting next to a window and I remember, a couple of years ago, having the windows open on a particularly windy day. I was trying to study, but kept hearing this strange ringing coming from the window. After a few minutes of this, I couldn’t stand not knowing what it was and walked over to the window and....realized what was happening. An unforgettable moment.
